In the sync process of the ipad,in the application section (on the Mac),it appear applications already cancelled on the ipad.
How to afford cancelling?
Thank you very much.

Although your post is informative it does not help the OP in his question about how OS X works differently in this situation from Windows. In Windows if I minimize a window and then do an Alt+Tab to that program the window reopens on the desktop. Which IMHO is the way it should work. No need to go to any menu and select anything with the mouse. My fingers never leave the keyboard. I can even Re-Minimize that window from the keyboard in Windows.
But then OS X is the Most Advanced Operating System in the World. Original idea stolen from Zerox PARC.
You have switched to a different operating system, it is not the same as Windows, to help understand those differences read this.

If you want it to be the same as Windows, use Windows.
In your case this may be too complex for you but try anyhow.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash

  • How to start a Java application on Mac OS

    Hello,
I am not sure whether this post would be appropriate to this community, but with the hope to find the answer to the question we have I'll try:
We are fairly new to Java Technology. We had the task to develop an application for Windows OS, and have successfully completed the job. BUT, we decided to go a bit further and see how our program would behave on Mac OS.
Unfortunately, we have never dealt with Macs before, thus don't have any idea on how to make the application run on Mac OS platform.
With Windows we have no problem, went by the most simple way by creating a .cmd file with "java name_of_file" string. Is there any similar simple way to start our small program on Mac OS?

    There are many options:
From Terminal (similar to ms-dos prompt, if you didn't know it already):
If you have "java MyApp" in your myapp.cmd, you can execute it with:
    sh myapp.cmd
Another option is to set myapp.cmd as executable:
    chmod u+x myapp.cmd
    and then from Terminal: ./myapp.cmd
Third and best option is to make an executable jar. Then you only have to double-click .jar -file to launch your application (and no need to go to Terminal).

  • How to cancel/reset iOS 7 software update that's failed?? Please save my sanity!

I tried to update my iPod touch 5th gneration (32GB) to iOS 7 over the air last night at around 19.00 UK time (from the device itself, rather than via itunes on my PC). This was the second attempt after the first (initiated at about 17.57 UK time) gave me an unsuccessful error message after almost completing the download. But now all I have on the software update screen is the 'less than one minute remaining' message. The cogs are rotating in the little icon window but NOTHING ELSE is happening & I cannot get the updating message off. It is now 15.11 UK time the following day & I'm STILL getting the 'less than one minute remaining' message... this is obviously not the case BUT I cannot seem to find any way whatsover of stopping/cancelling the failed software update.
I've tried everything i can think of: shut wi-fi off, signed out then back in to my itunes account, reset the device (long press of home & sleep buttons), power off then back on, & I am at a total loss & becoming incredibly frustrated.
I've managed to update on my iPhone no problem but my ipod seems to be broke!! Please can anyone out htere help me?!? How do I cancel the failed download or re-set it to d/l again??

yes I've done the update OTA but why this screen cant go
it keep asking me to connect to itunes and when connecting the I tunes appear a massage

  • Can anyone shed some light on how to run window based application on mac air?  I must run Meta Trader 4 platform and MS Office.

    Hello,
Can anyone please shed some light on how I can run MS Office and Meta Trader 4 platform on mac air.  I have been using Play on Mac and Wine for the past couple of weeks, but now suddenly it has stopped working, only crashing and giving me nightmares.  Is it juts best to install the latest Windows or Parallel?
    Regards Joe

Meta Trader 4 is Windows only - Office is available for the Mac and Windows and are mostly compatible but given that you'll be doing online trading you may prefer the Windows version of Excel since there are financial spreadsheets with macros that only run on the Mac with some significant editing.
You can install Windows 7 or 8 in BootCamp or any version of Windows usting virtualization. VMWare and Parallels are commercial programs and VirtualBox is open source. VB may be all you need. Whatever solution you choose, you'll need a commercial version of Windows (or get an OEM disc from NewEgg).

  • How to run Windows-only applications on Macs?

Is there a way to do this without having to purchase huge software programs (like Parallels, etc.)? I am only wanting to run 1 Windows-only application, not install the entire Windows-theme onto my laptop. Thanks for the help!

    Eric,
there is Windows emulation software called Wine that can run many (but by no means all) Windows programs without needing a Windows installation. It is gratis, but on OS X you need to compile Wine yourself; they do not have precompiled downloadable disk images for OS X. However, a company called CodeWeavers does offer a precompiled version of Wine called CrossOver Mac for OS X, but it costs $59.95. They do have a gratis 14-day trial version, so you could download that to see if your lone Windows application would work well under OS X with it.

  • How to cancel syncing purchased movies to Mac

I just can't cancel the option of snyc movies with my mac
everytime I unchecked that and press sync, that option would automacticlly check again...
I want keep the movies just on my iPad, then it would not take any space on my Mac
please help me with this, thanks

Whether you can redownload films depends upon what country that you are in (and whether the studio allows redownloading). What you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes - is that where you are looking ? If it is and the film shows there then click on the cloud symbol on its top right-hand corner and you should be able to redownload it.

  • How to cancel screensavers ?? thanks a lot!

    anybody help me pls,
how to cancel "screensavers" --- this application program in solaris 2.6 open windows environment?
    thanks a lot!!

    Hi
Your question is very clear. What do you mean by "Screensavers" ? Are you referring to the Solaris screen savers that appear on the screen when you leave the system with no activity for a while or are you referring to some program called screensavers ?
In case of the first, it is very simple.
    Assuming you have Openwindow desktop,
    1. DO a click on the right mouse button in an empty area of the workapce.
    2. Select Properties
    3. Click the Category section drop down window.
    4. Select Miscellaneous
You will see that a Screen Saver On/Off button which can
be put to off or put in on "auto" with timeout minutes specified.
    Change it as you please.
If you have a CDE environment,
Just run /usr/dt/bin/dtstyle and select Screen icon.
It will show you the details of the screen saver settings.

  • How to run ipad applications in mac

how to run ipad applications in mac i ahve downloaded the application in macbook air . But i do not know how to run?

It can't be done. iPads use iOS as the operating system. Macs use OS X as the operating system. iOS apps don't run on Macs and OS X apps don't run on iPads.
That's why if there is an app that has been developed for both platforms, you have to buy them separately; iOS apps from the iTunes App Store and Mac apps from the Mac App Store.

  • In the new mac app store how do you limit displayed applications only to os x applications.

In the new mac app store how do you limit displayed applications only to os x applications. I do not have Iphone or ipad so all the phone junk is annoying and one cannot find the relevant software.

The Mac App Store only has apps for Mac OS X. There are no iOS apps.
The iOS apps for iPhones, iPods and iPads, are in the iTunes App Store.

  • How do you "pause" an open application, like Mac automatically does when the memory is full?

How do you "pause" an open application, like Mac automatically does when the memory is full?
I would like to do so proactively when I am not using a certain program but need to keep it open, and I want to free up computer resources.
In other words, I want to keep a given program open, but stop it from "thinking".

There is an application that I can only open a set number of times before it expires.  Every time the program closes, you get one less use out of it.  I want to use it as long as possible, so I thought I would just keep it open all the time.  However, it consistently turns on the fan on the computer, so I imagine it uses a lot of resources.  I got the idea after the Force Quit program "paused" it once after getting overloaded with all the apps I had open.  It stopped the fan, and I was able to open it and run it again later with no problems.  The tricky thing with trying to intentionally overload the system is that it's a hit or miss on which open program the OS will pause (to my knowledge).
