How to reset cisco switch srw224g4p
I was trying to add some vlans to the switch. After adding , when I updated the settings, the web admin wont open no more. The address 192.168.1.254 was no longer accessible.
Is there any way that I can reset the switch and bring it back to factory settings?To rese the SRW switches you have to go through the console cable on the back of the switch. Then you can pull up your hyper termial and start a new connection. Make sure to set the seial port settings to : Bits per second-38400 data bits 8 parity none stop bits noe flow control none. Then hit enter twice. It will ask for your username and password. Once you get in go under 1.system configuration menu, 6. restore system to default settings. 7. reboot system. Once the system comes back up the switch will be back as if you had just pulled it out of the box. and back at the 192.168.1.254

Cisco switches routers plug-in
has anyone attempted on writing a plug-in for cisco nework devices like 6509?
You can use snmp fetchlet. For Cisco OIDs goto "Cisco SNMP object navigator"(http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?objectInput=ifInOctets&translate=Translate&submitValue=SUBMIT).
Also snmpwalk can help you:). -
High CPU utilization in cisco 6509E
I am facing a issue with CISCO 6509E switch with high CPU utilization. it reaches to 65%-70% which usually reaches 20 to 30%.
Hi
Your High CPU is due to interrupts, see 65% alone due to interrupts out of 89%.
Also, see last 72 hours CPU history, CPU always between 50-70%.

How is GC cpu utilization % calculated?
I am trying to find a way to capture the problem where a user process eats up a ton of cpu for over 30 minutes. I thought that I could possibly use the cpu utilization metric.
In testing it, I reset the values to warning and critical thresholds to 0 and 5% respectively to see what would happen. I was emailed with the expected critical alert. In looking at the top sessions on the server, I noticed that 1 session was eating up 100% of one cpu (which I want to know about) but the alert email said that 45% was utilized which I noticed was about what the user load is on the server.
Initially, I had the warning and critical threshold set to 85 and 95% respectively but did not get any warning about a user process that was taking up 100% cpu for > 5 minutes (in which the 5 minute collect times were set to once).
My questions are
1) How do I capture a single process eating up > 90% cpu in a multi-cpu environment
2) Is the cpu utilization % capturing the Average Load of the cpus on the server and alerting when it's above the critical threshold?
3) How is the cpu utilization % calculated?
Help would be appreciated.The cpu load is determined by running the Grid program nmupm found in $AGENT_HOME/bin
The output is like:
dbc12ykf: PDBGRP> nmupm osCpuUsage
em_result=1|206331806.000000|201540370.000000|102524043.000000|958620752.000000
em_result=2|212731589.000000|201203614.000000|67775500.000000|948506267.000000
em_result=3|212402913.000000|230642957.000000|76833167.000000|917779040.000000

You will get a line for each cpu.
YOu'll need a bit of reverse engineering to figure out the columns - I think they are user, system, idle , 5min avg - Multiplied by 10000 ?
Now to capture a big one - I think you will need a user defined metric. Just write a simple shell script to run the above command, and evaluate the numbers coming thru. -
Cisco PI 2.1 can't generate CPU utilization report
Hi Expert,
I just want to generate a CPU utilization report for my test router, I follow cisco offical documents step by step.
But unlucky, there's no result be display when I finished run the report.
Can anyone come cross this issue? Please help me to solve this issue.
The config detail please refer to attachment (Pic1, 2, 3)
Thanks in advance,
The PI display this error:
No data matches the specified criteria for the report

1.controller performace
2.switch CPU and Memory Poll

FrankIt's a VM.
I chose the Express-Plus profile even though I could technically have used the Express profile for what they're managing. I always try to err on the side of more resources when building a management system. Getting a customer to adapt their workflow to properly leverage a NMS is hard enough without it also being a drag to use due to system sluggishness.
We're also running it on a nice new shiny data center - UCS B240 series blade with fast storage on Netapp SAS disks and connected directly to the 7010 core (via the Fabric Interconnect of course). -
Cisco prime infrastructure 1.3 makes every 15 minutes cpu high on cisco 800 routers
I have an issue with cisco prime infrastructure 1.3 and cisco 880 routers, every 15 minutes the cpu goes to 100% on those routers, but I cannot find the job on the prime which is causing this, if I look in the job dashboard I have some jobs like sam_poller_22_15_getvpnpoller_27977292 that runs every 15 minutes (other jobs that I see CDBPoller_dmvpnPoller and CDBPoller_getvpnpoller) , probably is it on of these jobs, but how can I stop it (job type : poller job, owner =system) and what are they doing?
thanks for any assistanceThis is what i expected. I know many platform like 29xx/39xx or ISR's has known issues with Cisco Prime Infrastructure when it polls CISCO-LICENSE-MGMT-MIB, devices go high on CPU.
You have to block clmgmtLicenseInfoEntry by creating a view on your 800 router by configuring snmp view.
Following is the command/example:
Step 1: Configure SNMP View:
snmp-server view iso included
snmp-server view clmgmtLicenseInfoEntry excluded
Link community string to SNMP View:
snmp-server community view ro|rw
Example per your configuration:
snmp-server view PrimeInfra iso included
snmp-server view PrimeInfra clmgmtLicenseInfoEntry excluded
snmp-server community ArgSnmp view PrimeInfra RO ACLSNMP_RO
OR you can try following on your Cisco PI:
Manually update file below,
Open the /opt/CSCOlumos/conf/sam/template.xml, modify the template id=20 (licensePoller)
Update tag for value 600 to 86400 for all attrributes () of
template id =20
Old: 600
New: 86400
Some known bugs on such issues are :
CSCug97914 and CSCuc72024
Please check and let me know the updates.

Thanks for your reply . you are right there is more than 400 users connected with this SW so how can i resolve this issue.
one more think should i go with this SW when connected more than 400 users and also we have configured with Static route and we have facing CPU utilization very high continue 90 to 99 percent. and how can i show in details which service is taking high percent of CPU utilization cause i am not able to show in details in this SW only percentage are showing.
This SW is reliable at this level ?? or not and i want to know how many BW perfonance capacity of this SW currentely we are using 100 mb P2P.

Has anyone develped an EM plug-in for Cisco switches or routers
Folks,
Has anyone develped an EM plug-in for Cisco switches or routers? Please reply to this thread if you have developed one and would like to share your experience in developing this plug-in?
Thanks,It's probably not the conversion from CMYK to RGB that's causing the problem, but color profile (ICC) embedding in Photoshop. Fireworks doesn't read color profiles. You might be able to create an action to remove the color profile in Photoshop and then batch process the images with it.

How to reduce CPU utilization time in Java Application
Hi,
I have created a Java Application. It is a 3-tier architecture. While running my Java application, the CPU utilization percentage shots up to 100 %. I feel that it will affect the system performance and it will hang up the system also.
If any body know the solution to reduce the CPU utilization or links, please post it.
Thanks in advance.
KennedyI know Java class file must be interpreted by VM. but
Visual Basic is also a language to be interpreted. Why
it run faster than Java? As Java running speed is
concerned, it's unwise to apply to the
enterprise-level application. Now I can't endure Java
running speed. I wander to know whether it is
associated with operating system or not.1. Java is nto interpreted in modern (since 1997 or earlier) JVM's - it is compiled into machine code as it is executed via a JIT or a Dynamic compiler (like HotSpot).
2. VB (5 and later) is also not truely interpreted - in fact it uses the same excellent native code generator used by Visual C++.
3. Java is principally used these days for enterprise server-based systems where it performs extremely well - or extremely poorly as does C++ in the hands of people who don't know how to use it.
4. Different JVM's (and in some cases the same JVM hosted on different OS's) perform at different speeds - your mileage will vary. The OS has little influence on the computational speed of java but can highly influence its network, disk and graphics performance, as does hardware configuration (local console versus X terminal - Swing sucks on X Term).

How to measure CPU utilization from Oracle AWR
Hi All,
How to measure the cpu usage % from the AWR reports.
Oracle : 10.2.0.3
OS : AIX 5300-12-02
I see the top 5 waited events listing CPU time in it.
Top 5 Timed Events Avg %Total
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wait Call
Event Waits Time (s) (ms) Time Wait Class
CPU time 98,655 40.0
Is it mean that the CPU utilization is full to its 100%. Is there any other way to measure how much an oracle instance is utilizing the CPU ?
Please advice.
How to search/Scan Vlan of cisco switch ports
Can any one tell me how i can scan/search vlans of cisco switch port through any monitoring tool (orion/solarwinds).
Consider this scenario as i have no access to switch and i want to know below things:
1-Vlans created on switch?
2-which switch port belongs to which vlan id?
ThanksHi,
You can do it only with hub in between and also please note that when sniffing with Wireshark on Windows the OS would remove VLAN tag so you may need to use Linux machine.
