How to capture using Pinnacle 700-USB Analog to Digital (USB)?

I have a Pinnacle 700-USB Analog to Digital converter which inputs Composite and L+R Audio and outputs a Digital signal through USB.
I'm using this to digitize VHS tapes.
I am trying out different Video Editing sw including Adobe Elements 7. Others like Pinnacle Studio 12 and Corel Video Studio 12 can import from this USB-device. It doesn't seem to be possible using Adobe Elements 7.

It mentions at the end "Note: If you capture using an AV DV converter, you might need to capture without using device control."
1) What does the last Note mean? Which device control?
2) Are there any possibility of this working? What should I try to play with?

My Pinnacle Dv500 came bundled with Premiere 6.0 which I updated to 6.02... and I also updated the Dv500 driver software from the V3 to V4.5a so it would save in "standard" DV AVI Type 2 48khz files, instead of the ones that required the Dv500 codec to edit
When I bought a new computer and started using WinXp instead of the Win2000 that came with my Alienware Pentium3, I could never get Premiere 6 to work... would start, flash a screen or two, and then just go away
I then bought Scenalyzer, since it was compatible with the Dv500 (still had to have P6 and Dv500 drivers installed) but it turned out to be very FRAGILE as any slightest glitch on the tape would stop the program... and since some of what I'm doing is capturing my OLD library of VHS tapes, that simply wouldn't do
My current solution is a dual boot drive with Win2k/WinXp
Premiere 6 captures EVERYTHING in the Win2k partition... files saved to 2nd drive... and then I use PProCS3/Encore3 for editing and DVD creation
Just a "bit" of a hassle to have to restart between capture & edit/dvd... but much better than Scenalyzer stopping every time an old movie hit a rough spot in the tape... rough spots that capture just fine with P6

How can I use Pinnacle break-out box to capture in CS5

A colleague uses Pinnacle's break-out box to capture analog video directly through CS4, bypassing Studio.
I have CS5, and bought Pinnacle Studio 14.
But when I open CAPTURE in CS5, I get a "capture device offline" statement. Anyone got any ideas?

How to capture using vixia hf200/memory card

I am editing a video for a friend and they gave me their canon vixia hf200 camera which captures to a memory card. They gave me no book or cd so im not sure how to capture the footage to my computer. ive only used tapes to capture so im not sure what to do, they gave me a usb chord to connect the camera to my computer but nothing happens when i turn on the camera. soo what do i do to get this footage on my computer and ready to be edited in final cut
and i assume this footage is wide screen, so do i just keep everything the same only click the anamorphic button for my timeline settings and exporting?

The newer versions of iMovie and Final Cut as well as Final Cut Express 4 support ingest for AVCHD cameras. You don't copy the MTS files to your desktop, you hook the camera up to the computer and use the process for the particular application you are using.
If you don't have any of the above, look into *Voltaic HD* for converting your MTS files.

Hello, I have a similar situation of trying to get my Maxtor One Touch4 external HDD to connect to the AEBS for use as a central storage location for files that I can access from my new Mac Mini and my Windows XP laptop. Based on your reply to David's post I wanted to share my experience and see if you have any suggestions.
1. I connected the HDD to the USB port on the AEBS and the drive shows up in the Disk Tab of Airport Utility but I cannot access any folders on the drive.
2. When the HDD is connected directly to my Mini I can access all files on the disk but I cannot save newly created files to the external HDD. In Finder, my HDD shows up in the Device list and if I right click on the HDD and select Get Info this shows my Sharing & Permissions as "read only" for this drive and the "shared folder" checkbox is unchecked. I have gone into System Preferences and turned on File Sharing and I see my name as the admin with read/write permission for this HDD.
3. I'm guessing, based on other posts of yours that I've read, that my situation might have to do with the formatting of my external HDD. It was previously used exclusively with a Dell PC running Windows 7. I will research reformatting the drive but once I do this will my PC laptop running Windows XP still be able to access this drive if it is connected through the AEBS? Also, I may be a bit confused as to how the File Sharing works on a Mac and how it applies to my issue.

How do I use 5th Gen iPod and 2009 Civic USB?

I tried everything I can think of to get my iPod working with my 2009 Civic. From what I've read in the manual, I just be able to plug it into the USB and the car finds it, displays the Honda "H" logo/mark on the screen and away I go. I wish it were that simple.
I have a 5th Gen iPod with verison 1.3 firmware. It's formatted for Windows so it's a FAT32 storage format. I restored the iPod and put the music I wanted back on it so I could test again and still no dice. I don't have another iPod to test with.
Is there something I missed? Anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

The problem ended up being the controller board/card/box (whichever of these) in the car that was malfuctioning. I gathered that they had to do some diagnostics, comparitive testing (with another vehicle and audio system known to work), and test my audio system before isolating and replacing the controller.
I bought my Honda Cerified Used, so it was all covered by the dealer and Honda. I asked what it would cost had the car not been Cerfited Used. I was given an estimate of $350 USD. I know labor alone was $198 USD.
So, if you are expericing the same issue of no connectivity between your Honda and i(Device) and your car DOES NOT display any sort of error message on the audio system, this may be your problem. If you wish to get it fixed without a warranty to cover it, the cost will neighbor $350 USD. An alternative and cheaper option is to buy a headphone to headphone jack audio cable, plugging one end into your AUX outlet (if equipped) and the other your i(Device). Plugging into the AUX outlet does not charge or let you control your i(Device) through the car stereo.

How do I use a newer kernel in the netinstall USB image

trying to install Arch onto my laptop. My laptop is a Acer 1410 and it seems to have a new wireless card. dmesg | grep firmware shows something like iwlwifi-1000-2.ucode firmware file req failed: -2
The problem is I can only find iwlwifi-1000-3.ucode on intel's website. So I assume a newer kernel will help. Replacing the kernel on the live USB with vmlinuz-2.6.31-17-generic copied from by ubuntu install makes it not able to boot.

The error message means that the firmware is not installed. Did you actually try the 1000-3.ucode before assuming you need a new kernel?
Also, there are various places where you could get an older firmware package, if you really need the 1000-2 version. Have a look at the wiki's Downgrade page for details.

How do I use video's taking from a digital camera in IMovie as they don't appear on app?

I have downloaded iMovies on my iPad 2 and also synced this with my laptop in which all photos and videos have been transferred over to it. My photos appear in the 'photo' folder and my videos appear in 'Video' folder. When I open the iMovie app it only shows my photos which means I am unable to use my videos to make a movie.

I should note that the camera (both video and audio) show up as devices just fine in other Adobe CS apps (including FLME). Does anyone have any insight as to how FLME gains access to the DV hardware?

Audio problems with Canopus analog to digital converter

I'm trying to digitize and import VHS tapes into iMovie 08. I'm using the Canopus 110 analog to digital device. I've connected the VHS player to the Canopus with RCA cables, as prescribed. The video has imported beautifully — but there's no sound, and so my then 2 year old daughter appears to sing, but alas, no voice — except, for the occasional clip (about 2 to 4 seconds of sound on a 30 minute tape). Any ideas? (I've spoken with an Apple tech who walked me through a test before assuring me the problem didn't seem to be with iMovie ['-).

a. You did install the Canopus programs (on CD) ?
b. I connect mine to a Standard VHS-VCR and use the SCART connector on it's back
and to this a RCA to SCART plug WITH AN IN AND OUT Switch !
On my VHS-VCR there are two SCARTs on it's back - only one of them works for this.
c. If You in iMovie pref - set Playback via Camera - picture will play but sound
will be directed to analog device = Your Canopus
and if You connect a TV to this or via the VCR (as I've done) the audio playbacks
nicely trough this.
Sorry this only goes for iMovie 1 to 6 - not for 08 or 09 (very bad)

Adobe Audition 3.0 and Pinnacle 700 USB - How to record audio from VHS tapes???

Actually I am having a old Pinnacle 700 USB capture card. I want to record some audio in my computer by Adobe Audition.
I downloaded and installed required driver for Pinnacle 700 USB (for Vista).
But when I tried to capture audio from my VHS tapes, It not showing proper options. I don't know how to proceed further.
Could any one please help me... Please let me know what all I need to do.

The Pinnacle is a video capture device and as such captures the video and audio into one MPEG or DV stream. Audition can't see it as an audio card and therefore can't capture audio directly from your video source. However once you have captured a video file using the Pinnacle you can probably get to the audio by using the Open Audio from Video command in the File menu in Audition.

How can I use a USB camera with cRIO 9022. Please see my strange problem.

I would like to use a USB camera with NI cRIO 9022. I used the same USB camera with NI USB 6216 DAQ device and developed a VI(within a PROJECT and outside it). So, It is working fine with NI USB 6216 device when I use the Vision Assistant Express VI and gets detected in its Initialization Window. Please see JPEG File 3 where I get NO ERROR.
I am facing a problem when I want to use it with NI cRIO 9022. What exactly I am doing in this case is:
1) Create a NEW PROJECT
2) Add Targets and Devices(NI cRIO 9022)
3) Use the Scan Interface mode
4) Create a NEW VI under the cRIO 9022 device
5) Use a Timed Loop(Synchronized with Scan Engine) for continuous Data Acquisition and Sending from the Analog I/O modules.
6) Use the Vision Assistant available through the NI Vision Acquisition 2010 Module(I get STUCK HERE! The Express VI opens the Initialization Window, but I don't see the USB camera like in JPEG File 3)
I am facing difficulties with this HOST COMPUTER, cRIO implementation differences. On my host computer I have the software packages as shown in JPEG File 1, and on my cRIO 9022 as shown in JPEG File 2.
Can someone guide me how to overcome this and get the USB camera detected when I am using NI cRIO 9022?
NOTE: If this is a problem with software mismatches on HOST and NI cRIO 9022 device, please see JPEG Files 1 and 2 for available software and Host and cRIO 9022.
