How to center prints on Epson printers

I've seen several questions stating this issue has been beaten to death, but I can't find any with answers.
Is there a way to use Photoshop CS5 and print an 8x10 print on letter paper with even borders at each end. No matter how I set the page setup (centered etc) I get a 1/8" border on one end and 1/2" at the other... not at all acceptable when printing landscape.
I've tried this on Epson 4800, 4880 and Artisan 700 .. all have the same problem.
I must be missing something (I can print correctly with a RIP but sometimes I just want a quick print from within PS)???
Please share your secrets :-)
thanks,
tom

  • Can't Print to Epson Printers from Photoshop

Hey everyone - for some reason I am unable to print from Photoshop CS6 to two different Epson printers - an Epson 9800 and an Epson 7880. I have tried to print from three different computers (OS 10.6 and OS 10.8) and have also tried three different USB cables. Each time I get the same results - the computer acts like it sends the data to the printer, but the printer never prints anything. I am not getting any error messages. I am attepting to print a 3960x2160, 720 DPI RGB TIF image. I tried printing from Preview as a test but that didn't work either.
This is a new problem as I have been printing to these printers for years with no issues.
I have tried reinstalling drivers, turning the computer and printers on and off, cleared my caches and repaired permissions, but so far no luck.
However there is ONE situation in which I am able to print - if I save the image as PDF and print it from from Acrobat, specifically with "Acrobat Color Management" selected, it WILL print. If I try to print from Acrobat with "Printer Manages Colors" selected, it will not print.
This is really driving me mad and I would love to find a solution. Major thanks to anyone who can help!

Success! I have no idea what the issue here is but I tried printing a completely different file as a test, and lo, that file prints fine. The other file does not. Since the file I'm trying to print is a rasterized Illustrator file, I just rasterized it again so I'm working with a new file, and it prints! I am so pleased.

  • Need wireless printing for Epson printers

    I have 3 Epson printers.
An R380 direct printing via USB, an R380 wireless via an Airport Express and an Epson Artisan 810 wireless via my Airport Extreme. The 810 also has bluetooth capabilities.
_So I have three avenues to print wireless:_
    Through the Airport Extreme
    Through the Airport Express
Through the Bluetooth capable Epson 810
... BUT the iPad provides no way for printing.
When I purchased the device I assumed that printing was a given.
The newly announced beta IOS4.2 only allows printing on HP printers...WHY?
There are other printer manufactures out there.
I chose Epson because it allows for printing on DVD’s and CD’s

I think only certain HP printers will have a direct print ... but that any printer on the same network as your iPad will work. From the AirPrint press release:
"AirPrint automatically finds printers on local networks and can print text, photos and graphics to them wirelessly over Wi-Fi without the need to install drivers or download software. HP’s existing and upcoming ePrint enabled printers will be the first to support printing direct from iOS devices... iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users can simply tap to print their documents or photos wirelessly to an HP ePrint printer or to a printer shared on a Mac or PC.”
So if your Epson is on a network, you can print to it.

  • HT3771 how to disable printer updates for printers I do not have anymore

I'm using Snow Leopard and find that auto-update is constantly wanting to update printer drivers for printers i do not own, but might have had connected in the past. How can I disable these printers? I've spotlight searched through my system and cannot find where these printer profiles are located.

/Library/Printers/ and delete any manufacturer's folder for the ones you don't have. This is all I have left:

  • How do I get CD/DVD to print on Epson printers?

I had an Epson R200, and when I had Panther it printed on CD/DVDs but it was always rather iffy. Sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't. However, since I have upgraded to 10.4.6, and now 10.4.7, it's just not working at all. I worked back and forth with Epson and they sent a different tray, and it worked a couple of times, and then it would work if I shut down the software and brought it up again, but would have to do it every time. Then the rollers or something started spinning as the tray went in and then would back up. I fussed with Epson and got nowhere, and finally gave up and got an R340 figuring it cost more it would work. First time out I got 4 printed, thought the problem was over. Now I go to print again and same thing, starts to enter about an inch, stops, something spins and then it backs out. Now, since two printers are doing essentially the same thing, it would seem to be some glitch with the software and the OSX??????

    Hi Pamela
Sorry to hear about the problem; I really believe the problem is with the printer mechanism itself, and not software related. My 2-year old R200 finally gave up the ghost this month (though I've been able to get two disc prints out of it in that time), and its performance was always inconsistent. Same thing you described, with the tray spitting out, and from what I've heard from others, I'm lucky I got the productivity I did out of it.
I'm now desperately looking for another machine that will do the job; was thinking of getting the other model you mentioned, but after reading of your experience, I think I'll avoid Epson altogether and just start saving up my quarters for a Bravo II. Unfortunately, right now there don't seem to be a lot of alternatives for us Mac users.
But to repeat, I don't think it's Mac system software; the two labels I printed were done since the current update. It's just basically cheap inket technology.

  • Unable to Print to Epson printers using LPD on PPC, works on Intel

After updating to Leopard, I am unable to print to my network printer Epson 870 and CX6400 from my G5 Imac. Everything worked fine with Mac OS 10.4.x. It works from my MacBook running Leopard. I am unable to select (even using browse) the appropriate Gutenprint V.5.1.3 driver. It fails to output to print server. From my MacBook all my network printer works - Samsung ML-1710, Epson 870 and CX6400. From the PPC Imac, only the Samsung works.
If I share the printer from the MacBook, the iMac sees the printers and automatically selects the appropriate Gutenprint driver. I am using IPD. I also tried Window. I can not select the Gutenprint drivers. For the 870, I tried selecting Epson Stylus Color and Photo series 1.3 and Epson CX6000 series driver.
I've reloaded the drivers from Apple and also tried Epson's drivers. I haven't tried loading the standard (non-Apple) gutenprint drivers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Al

I have the answer. It took quite a while but I know why the 3880 won't print from Photoshop 4 with Maverick. It is due to the Epson .icc page description files. The way to solve the problem is to make your own .icc. OK, so you don't know how to do it. This is what I did so now I get the quality prints I expect from an expensive printer.
You need to go to www.datacolor.com/spyderprint and purchase the Spyderprint hardware and software. It comes as a package for $300 to $350 depending on if you get a sale. The software will print on the 3880 test sheets of color blocks. With the hardware reader you then read the colors on the test sheets printed. What this does is match the monitor image with the printer, ink and paper you used. It makes an .icc page description file for you to select instead of the Epson .icc file. When you print again select the new .icc file and also choose "Printer Manages Colors" instead of "Photoshop Manages Colors" I know this is usual but it works. When you are done you will be smiling too with your beautiful results.
One other thing. If you want, it is optional, also purchase the Spider 4 Pro for $150. It calibrates your monitor and helps make excellent prints.
I understand it is more money and you already probably have a good computer, expensive camera to go with the 3880 so spend the extra money so it all works together.
    I hope this helps.

  • Problems while printing whit Epson Printers

Recently I have upgraded my MacBookPro to Leopard using the Archive and Install option, maintaining the network and user settings. After the upgrade I cannot print on both the Epson laser printer I used previously with MacOS X 10.4.
In the Printer dialogue box I see the laser printers AcuLaser 1100 and EPL 6200L, the first is connected via ethernet and the second via USB port, but the printing process start and suddenly stop without printing any sheet. I looked for the error in the console and i found this lines:
    Queued on "EPSONEPL6200L" by "paolobernardis".

Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
[Job 35] Job stopped due to filter errors.
I tried to install the new drivers from the Epson website but problem continue.
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve the problem?
    Thanks

After searching on the web I found the solution.
I repaired the permissions with disk utility and now both printers work!

  • Image Size Problems when printing on Epson printers

    Hello all,
Here's what I have- I am running Photoshop CS 5.1 on a new Mac Mini, using OS 10.6. I am up to date on all software updates for both the Mac OS and Adobe.
As of two weeks ago, whenver I send an image to print on my Epson 4900 or Epson 4880 it prints much smaller than the intended size. For instance, I have an 11x17 piece of paper and it is printing an image that is roughly 6x9in, even though my image size is really 10x16. I know that I have the correct paper size. I even tried creating a custom paper size to no avail.
After few weeks of trying to figure out the problem, I decided to install a copy of CS4 on the machine. CS4 is working properly and I have not had any resizing issues......That is until today....Now, my Epson 4880 is having the same problem printing as when I was going through CS5.1
I trashed the preferences.....That didnt work either.
    Any thoughts?

    As of two weeks ago...

Try Epson's Advanced Product Support Center (I believe your 4880 qualifies for it)

  • Crystal report printing using epson dot matrix printer (continouos paper)

Hi there, im tiff from the philippines.
i have a  question on printing using a crystal report. How do i print using epson continuous printer(dot matrix)? im having a problem printing to that type of printer specially using continuous paper. the first page is correct but unfortunately the succeeding pages are not. its automatically adjusted upon reaching the second page. hope you can help me.
thanks a lot and looking forward to hear from you soon.

Check with the printer manufacturer that the matrix printer is Unicode compliant. If it is not, it will  not work with Crystal Reports. If it is, make sure you have the latest printer driver updates.

  • Lion OS and Epson printers not printing photos through Aperture or CS4

    Hi everyone,
I have done a search on the above topic but nothing obvious is coming up as a solution (ie...sorry if it has been done before)
    It's driving me mad.
    I have 2 epson printers, R300 and Stylus 1400.
They were both performing perfectly well before installation of osx lion.
They will both print word and pages documents perfectly, they will also print from pdf and screen dump.....so they are mechanically ok, (paper loaded correctly, loads of ink etc etc )  now, here is the issue.....
When I try to print a photo from either CS4 or Aperture the information seems to send to the printer, the printer icon jumps up and down and the text for the jobs queue says 'printing'....the printer 'shunts' as if engaging to print, doesn't do anything else and tells me a second later that the status is 'completed'.....but it hasn't printed anything!!!    aaaaargh
I have been to the epson website and downloaded the latest drivers....same outcome.
I have even been on the live assistance thing on the epson website, no help at all, assistant didn't seem all that competent.
    Anyone have/had a similar problem.
Words of one syllable if there is a fix, I am savvy but not expert.
    Cheers
    Rob

    Hi nenavella,
One more thing you could try, the problem re occurred for me on a different printer and I found the reason for the fault by accident, a longish story but stick with it:
I had set up an unusual custom paper size so that I could print off passport photos for a client....for reasons I don't quite understand (probably my own stupidity!) that paper size became the default size for that printer...very rarely used...so any time I tried to print anything on that printer that wasn't passport photo size...it behaved exactly like my previous issue, made all the right noises etc etc but didn't print.
To cut a long story short: On that particular printer, every time I print anything I have to go to 'Page Setup' and change it to an appropriate size (A4, 6x4, A5 etc etc...anything but UK passport size of 35mm x 45mm) before I hit the print button.
It may be worth checking that your printer hasn't somehow 'obtained' an odd page set up parameter somewhere/somehow.
If it isn't this I hope you find the problem soon, I know how infuriating it can be.
    Cheers
    Robin

  • How do I get CS6 to not distort color when using Lion and printing from Epson R2880?

Ever since I up-graded to CS5 , the color has been distorted.  It is not an Epson Lion problem because printing from preview or iPhoto the color is perfect.
Adobe has known about this problem since January 23, 2012.  Their help people have taken over my computer for hours at a time and not been able to discover the source of the problem
I thought they might have fixed it with CS6 but no luck  I chose use CS4 settings because CS4 had worked.
I printed using Printer Manages Color and color matching, epson color.  I selected the correct media.  The prints came out dark.  The yellows turned green and the greens turned blue/green, reds became dull and blues a bit dark.
This is most upsetting because I cannot afford to buy a new printer and ink.  Also I should not have to buy new equipment because Adobe cannot make their product work correctly.

    cmszinnia wrote:
If the printer prints colors accurately from Lion apps, which it does, then the problem is in Adobe.
Uh...ok...then the REST of the FREE world is going down the tubes because obviously, Adobe has screwed up?
Some of us are using LR4 and CS6 to print and getting accurate and excellent results with Lion (10.7.3) so the question begging for an answer is why can't you?
Read very carefully what Chris wrote...the odds are REAL GOOD you are NOT using the correct settings...but since you don't bother to show or explain the EXACT settings you are using when printing, we'll never know. Will we?
If the vast magority of the user base is NOT having an issue, to what do you attribute the disconnect? User Error is the single most likely result...
You want help? Or do you want to argue?
I know a little bit about printing and I seem to be able to print with zero issues on a wide variety of Epson printers...you wanna place blame or do you wanna learn how to fix the problem? (clue, the odds are it isn't Adobe nor Epson leading to the problems, it's you bud).

Please help...I'm a new user...how do i print- select paper Epson options and make colour adjustments using iphoto and  Epson Stylus Pro 3800 with Printer Driver v8.64

  • Printing pdfs to Epson printers, images do not print properly

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional v8.2.5 and Windows 7 64k and since the recent upgrade of Acrobat when I print to either of my Epson printers (Epson Aculaser 2600 and Epson Stylus Office BX610FW) the text is fine but images are smeared or just print as a block of print with no detail.  I don't seem to have this problem with HP printers and I don't recall making any changes to the printer settings. Up until about three weeks ago I did not have this problem.
If I save the pdf file as a tiff or jpg etc then everything prints fine.
    Any ideas anyone?

Not sure how to back up you did, though Time Machine could be your friend.
