How to change 2 ipods and one account

When I plugged in my new ipod touch, I thought that it would ask me to create a new itunes account but instead it just copied everything from our other account. So now we have two ipods with the same name and account. How can I erase what's on the new ipod and create it's own itunes account without erasing the content on the other ipod? Does that make sense? thanks!!

You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have three Windows user accounts which by definition would give you three completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. If you go for method two, you can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" which would mean you could create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPods. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod Mini or Nano (around 3700MB for a 4G). You can read more about playlists at these links:

You can't do it on your own. The previous owner has to erase the device for you. You would need his Apple ID and password in order to delete his iCloud account. This is due to the Activation Lock in iOS 7 - assuming that your iPad is running iOS 7.
Contact the owner and ask home to erase it remotely using iCloud, or return the device and ask for your money back. If you can't contact the pervious owner, you will have a useless iPad on your hands.

Purchases using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID. Purchases are forever tied to that Apple ID used. You have to decide which Apple you want to use for purchases and stick to that Apple ID so that you can share: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID : > use the same Apple ID here to share purchases.

You can't do that.
And before you decide to store any music that you own on a computer at work, talk to your IT department. Many organizations do not permit it for legal reasons. Standard policies are that anything stored on company owned computers is the property of the company. It could not be legally stored on their machines unless you transfer the licenses and all copies, physical and digital, to the company, meaning you no longer own the music. If they were to be audited and could not prove that they own the music, they would be subject to copyright violation penalties. Just use your iPod when you're at the office if you want to listen to music.

Home sharing only allows you to stream content from a computer's iTunes to an iOS device or another computer (and to copy from the computer to another computer), you can't use it to copy items to an iOS device.
If the apps are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it, and for music (if you are in a country where music purchases can be redownloaded and they are still in the store) then you can redownload them via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad. Or you can copy them from your iPod to your computer's iTunes library by connecting it and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option and then sync them to your iPad.

Only sequentially. Each time you switch accounts, it will overwite the existing content with the new content. As AnaMusic says, you cannot sync one device with two AppleID accounts at the same time, or even with the same AppleID on different computers for the same type of content (you could, for example, sync music to one computer, and calendars to a different computer, but not music to two different computers, even if they're the same AppleID).
Also, if you want to *re-download* content directly form the iTunes store (assuming it's an iPod Touch), you can only change IDs every 90 days.
