How to change audio device?

Hi!
My computer is HP Compaq 7900p small. I bought new graphics card which is Asus AMD HD6450. When I test it I saw problem - no sound.
When I click on Sounds tab, I see that AMD HDMI Output-AMD High Definition Audio Device - not plugged in and I couldn't change it to default device. When I troubleshooted it, problem was that one or more audio devices isn't running.
I was searched in google for solution, and found it that I need to change in BIOS from DVI port to HDMI port, but in my comp BIOS version is 7.11 and I don't see where it would be changed.
Only what I did was that I swapped integrated audio to enabled then I get sound from my speakers, but AMD High Definiton Audio Device still isn't plugged in. Please help me change it to default!

There is no audio line input on your Mac, get a USB interface, get one that is specified for guitars.

How to enumerate audio devices in Windows 7?

My Labview application works now in WinXP environment.
It uses audio device enumeration to select the appropriate device on PC.
To do it I use now Automation call to DirectX interface.
This function generates error on PC under Windows7 with message: "unregistered class....".
Of course Win7 doesn't have DX8,
What an alternative does exists in Win7 and what I have to change in my Labview function?

Can firefox change audio device preference without restarting?

I use my PC as a home theatre as well as for day to day usage, and have multiple audio devices.
For most usage, I route the sound through on-board audio (realtek) but for watching movies, I run it through the ATI HDMI output to the TV.
Currently, in order to watch a movie, I have to shut down Firefox, change windows prefered audio device, then restart Firefox.
Can I change the device preferences somehow within Firefox without restarting it?

How to remove audio device?

Here's my problem: Including the use of the application uninstall, the "Apowersoft_AudioDevice" is not being removed... It doesn't seem to be causing any issues, but I want it gone!
The uninstall (below). After going through it's process an "Apowersoft_AudioDevice" is left over...
The Apowersoft application has been "uninstalled".
System preferences > Sound Panel > Output (picture below) - There is no minus button to deselect.
System preferences > Sound Panel > Input (picture below) - Same issue: No minus button to deselect...
OS and such. Running Mavericks.
I have tried reinstalling and re-uninstalling, but the audio device seems to enjoy sticking around.
Please help! I would greatly appreciate it!

I had the same problem and I've just solve it with a tutorial that I found in Youtube. It in German, but ithere's no problem because you just have to follow the steps this man follows. After rebooting, the Apowersoft_AudioDevice preference disappeared!

How to change audio/video speed

I'm trying to change audio/video playback speed, so I could
play it faster, but I haven't find any solution.
It has to be changed dynamicaly - there is no possibilty of
making normal, fast playing file.

If you convert the video into an SWF and embed it playing
through the frames, you should be able to "skip" frames or pause
between frames through flex to increase/decrease playback speed
through the MovieClip.gotoAndStop method.
Not sure this would work or not. Just a thought.

How to chang audio-output-device(s) in Windwos 8

Hi,
currently I’m working on an application that starts by changing the audio-output-device and ends with re-setting the old one.
On Windows XP I do this by changing the Registry-entry “Sound-Mapper” and it works quite well.
I hopefully assume it works on all Windows Systems from XP to Windows 7.
The background is that our program is supposed to play certain multi-channel sounds over an external USB-multichannel-soundcard and it should switch to that device on start. To actually play the sounds we use the AxWindowsMediaPlayer-Class
to integrate the Windows-Media-Player in our application.
However, on Windows 8, it is possible to set multiple Audio-Outputs and the Windows-Media-player has a setting to choose from them (under Options). I was unable to use the Registry-trick to switch the output-device and I could not find
a way to programmatically tell the AxWindowsMediaPlayer to choose the USB-soundcard as an output.
Is there a Way to programmatically(c#) ether change the audio-output-device(s) in Windos8 or to tell
AxWindowsMediaPlayer to use a certain device?

I think your reply pushed me in the right direction.
The waveOutOpen-function is part of the
winmm.dll-API and I think, that API is the solution to my Problem.
Unfortunately I am stuck at this point. I tried mciSendString and mciSendComand. Both are cappable of playing sound, but I am unable to change the output Device.
This is my c# code to open a WAV-File via mciSendCommand:

I am going to develop a online voice chat applet. Now everything works fine. But I didn't find anyway to capture audio in a lower sample rate. The default sample rate is 441000Hz. I am using MediaLocator to capture audio and pass it into Processor.

Use GSM format and do it with setting of BitRateControl. It is better than convert the sample rate of your capturing device. I suppose that you try to reduce load of network traffic with changing sample rate, right?

How to change the device template in GPIB 2.0

I am not able to communicate with the device. I am using the function call ibfind. Previous versions of the GPIB enabled us to modify the device name from dev0. How do I do this in NI 488.2 2.0 version?

In the NI-488.2\bin\ directory within the installation directory, there is an executable gpibconf.exe that will allow you to modify the device templates. Just run the executable and you should be able to change dev0 to another name.

How to change logical device names

Hi, I would like to change the logical device names for an external StorEdge. Booting into single user mode from a CD and deleting everything in /dev/dsk/ and /dev/rdsk/ as well as the path_to_inst file and then reconfigure booting doesn't work. Solaris remembers which physical device name was allocated to which logical device name. Haven't been able to find any info on how Solaris remembers this. I've thought of booting into init S from CD and renaming the logical device names but I would like to rename them to the next available controller which is c3 and which is probably already "reserved" for the unused onboard SCSI controller. Does anybody have any info on this ?

I would like to stream a flv-video, but every time with
different audio-track.
So how can I change the audio track on a video-stream? Is
there any server-side solution for this?
I used to stream the audio on different stream - parallel
with the video stream -, but because of synchronization problems,
it didn't work.

Thanks for the helpful response. I'll check out the the options available for shaping the sound with eq, efx and amp sims as you suggest.
It still would be helpful to know if I change an audio track (.aif file) into a midi track in GarageBand or in some other software so I can change the instrumentation of the track from piano to another instrument.

IMac + remote Bluetooth speakers: How to aggregate audio devices?

I have one of those iPod slot on top speakers in a box systems.
I bought a “wireless Bluetooth music receiver” (looks like a chunk of licorace) that plugs into the iPod slot so I could transmit A2DP V1.2 audio to that speaker box from the iMac.
It works and I can transmit audio to that reciever and hear music from my iMac via iTunes and Pandora on the web.
But I want sound to come from both the built in iMac speakers and the external speaker box at the same time (kind of like having close by remote wireless speakers).
Using Audio MIDI Setup in Utilities, I created an Aggregate device so that I might play music through the iMac speakers and the Bluetooth speaker box at the same time.
(For those unfamiliar with Aggregate devices, please read here for quick intro. Note that when you search aggregate devices, many of the answers/links show a previous version. I think pre Leopard or Snow Leopard/Lion version. In current Snow Leopard/Lion version, you add by clicking the plus sign.)
No matter how I have the Aggregate device settings configured, it will only play to one or the other devices.
Is this a hopeless cause or, is there a trick to get sound out of my iMac speakers and the remote speakers with the Bluetooth reciever in the iPod slot at the same time?
I sound like an audio pro but I am not. Indeed, I still can't find an explanation anywhere on how to know your best Clock Source, what a clock source is, what a resample is, why it is needed, and while I have matched device formats at 48000 Hz and 44000 Hz, the 2ch-32 and other bit numbers never match and, does that matter?

So far, investigating it on my own, I think the problem is with the Snow Leopard version of Audio MIDI Setup. (If an Apple or audio expert could confirm here, that would be good.)
The Lion version of AMS does seem to permit this. From the Apple site: "Audio MIDI Setup works with audio and MIDI devices connected to your Mac using FireWire, USB, Bluetooth, PCMCIA, and PCI."
So the answer for Snow Leopard users may have to be some kind of third party software.
The nice people at Rogue Amoeba gave me an idea (to try) to use Audio Hijack Pro to hijack the audio and send it to the Bluetooth using the Auxiliary Device Output plugin under Effects. But it did not work.
Any further thoughts would be appreciated.

How to change Boot device order to enable install of OS from CD/DVD?

I have an external USB CD/DVD drive. I would like to from YOGA "OFF", boot to this drive.
From YOGA "OFF" tried the tiny button (pused with pencil point), choose boot menu, this is using "windows boot mgr.", it said to use the "UP & Down" arrows to, change then press <enter>
The up & down arrows offered NO other choices than what was already there.
So from off how do i boot to the CD/DVD plugged into the USB port?

First go to BIOS setup and turn off secure boot. If that doesn't do it, switch the boot mode from UEFI to legacy.
