How to change character encoding in firefox 4 without enabling menu bar

Occasionally I need to try various character encoding so the characters look correctly. However, with the new Firefox 4 interface, the only place I can find to do that is to re-enable the old style Menu Bar then select View->Character Encoding

You can find the Character Encoding in the Firefox > Web Developer sub menu.

I have two languages that I have selected for regular use in my language input menu (on the right-hand side of the menu bar), and I would like to change the Spanish input flag from the Spain national flag to an Argentina flag, just for aesthetics. I figured it'd kind of be like changing the image of how the HDD looks like on the GUI (control-click, get info, copy and paste image), but I'm not sure where to start or if it's even possible. I've filed Bug# 3147045 for this. Our DataBinding.cpx file and UIModel XML files seem to be getting hardcoded to use the ISO-8859-1 encoding. Our ADF Business Components XML files correctly pickup the IDE encoding.

After updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google,yahoo, Facebook (message,notification,profile,home) and others site are disabled. How can solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.

I updated to Firefox 4 and there's no orange Firefox button and the Menu Bar is still there (File, Edit, View, etc.). Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

As the question states, I tried updating from Firefox 3 to Firefox 4 two different ways and though I see a difference, it's definitely not all of Firefox 4. I updated with the auto update installer and downloaded the exe and installed and it's still not right. I don't have the new Firefox style or the Infamous Orange Firefox button. My Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, Etc...) is still there as well. The only thing that has really changed is the tabs going above the URL bar. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

To get the new style UI you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

That button is 'grayed out' when I click on the orange Firefox tab. I do not want to have to do three extra steps each time I find what I need. Go to View (or just right-click on any empty space of Firefox's panels - for example, near the tabs) and turn off the Main Menu Panel. You'll see what you're looking for.

While uploading only that page from Muse to your host, use the "Host Directory" option to upload it to a different folder. I've tried holding down all three keys, control, option and command as well as every combination of them in twos and three and then clicking on the menu bar icon I want to remove and I only get the option to use the software, not to delete it.

Hold command and drag them off the Menu Bar, drag them at least a couple of inches. (or 50mm)

It's on your Desktop, is it not? You cannot put it on the menubar through OS X although you may find third-party utilities that will. If you want it on the Desktop:
Select Preferences from the Finder's Finder menu and check the desired boxes:
Click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar to set what you want displayed in the Sidebar.

Keeping Firefox Icon in my Menu Bar

I use Mac OSX Tiger. I cannot keep the Firefox Icon in my Menu Bar, which means each time I turn on the computer I have to fuss with getting the icon in my menu bar. Can anyone advise?

Typically when you install Firefox you download a .dmg file (disk image file), which if you double-click, will open and show a Firefox icon. To install Firefox, you'd drag that icon to the Applications folder. Then you would close the window that opened when you double-clicked on the .dmg file.
To run Firefox you would double-click on the Firefox icon in the Applications folder, not the dmg window.
To install the Firefox icon in the "dock" (what you call the menu bar), drag the Firefox icon from the Applications folder to the dock.
(My suspicion is that instead you dragged the icon from the dmg window to the dock.)
I'd recommend that you not have Firefox running while you attempt any of the above actions.

Found it, thanks to later posts in that thread I mentioned in the OP. Here is what they suggest (you have to use Photoshop):
1. In Photoshop, go to Help >Updates:
2. Click "Preferences" at the bottom right.
3. Uncheck the box labeled "Notify me of new updates on the menu bar." Then click "Ok."

When trying to save the corrected content in 1.) I get an

file. Is there a "head" file like in HTML? Or how does one

When I change the encoding in the prefereces, which is
"Western" to "Greek" or "UTF", I have the same result.

The .js file and the html need to have the same encoding. If
your html uses iso-8859-7, then the .js must also use that. But if
the original text editor created the .js file using utf-8, then
that is what the html needs to use.

How to change proxy credentials in Firefox?

Hello,
One of our staff recently changed her password which is used for the proxy.
I've updated the credentials in network preferences and it seems to work fine for other browsers (Chrome and Safari) but Firefox does not seem to work.
All other settings in FF should be correct.
Can anyone tell me how to update credentials for the proxy?

I believe changing the proxy for firefox is the same on a mac as with window. You can go to the network settings and change it from there, and I believe firefox will ask to use the settings, otherwise you can go to Settings>Options>Advanced>Network and then on the top will be place that says configure how firefox connects to the internet. Hit that settings button and you can then configure it all. At the bottom of there, there is a button that says "Do not prompt for authentication if the password is saved". I would clear that box because that is probably why her authentication isn't working. Once she has put in new authentication, it should ask if you want to update it. Thats when you can go back there and check the button to not prompt for authentication if the password is saved.
Just in case this was way to long, or didn't make sense, I have a couple screenshots. These were taken on my windows computer, not my mac but it will be the same thing.
