How to change cookies on mac os x 10.4

I can't load my itunes store. i keep getting message to connect to internet or change cookie settings for itunes. Problem don't know what to do

What version of iTunes are you running? If it's too old, it will no longer connect to the iTunes Store. You can try iTunes 9.2.1, the last version that would run on Mac OS X 10.4, if you're not already on 9.2.1:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1056
but it would be best to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.8 so you can run iTunes 10.6.3 which will have a much better chance of working properly with the iTunes Store. To upgrade to 10.5 you'll need to look to private sellers for a retail copy of the Mac OS X 10.5 installer. It may, however, be time to think about moving up from that old PB to an Intel-based Mac.
Regards.

Hey everyone, I just got a new laptop, well it was actually my brothers but now its mine, i deleted his files, changed the user so im the computer administrator and its all good, but theres jsut one little problem. when you open finder, on the left, you see some things; desktop, documents, movies, pictures, maccintosh hd etc etc, well, theres a little icon there which is your home apparently it has your username and a little icon of a house next to it, but it still has my brothers user name, and when get its info in order to change the name, when i want to unlock it to make changes, it asks for my brothers password. How can i make all of this disappear??

changing the name of the home directory and the login name is not advisable. it can be done

but a better way would be to make a new user account using system preferences->accounts. call it whatever you want. log into that and delete the old account. since you just got this computer you don't have any data on it yet, right?

  • How to Change Color on Mac OS 9

I recently got a PowerMac G3, and the machine has been displaying in grayscale when I first turn it on. Under the settings, it says 256 Colors. I can correct it, but then when I start the computer later, it reverts back. Is there a way to make the fix permanent?

Settings made via OS 9's control panels are retained in preference files. One or more of the applicable preferences files may have become locked, or damaged.
Go to System Folder > Preferences. Locate the file named Display Preferences and the file named Monitor Preferences (the second one may be in a folder having the same name). Neither should be locked. If either is, you can unlock it ny doing a Get Info (Command-I) on the file.
If neither file is locked, try throwing both of those files away, empty the Trash, then restart. New prefs files with default settings will be created automatically. This means you may need to redo the resolution choice as well as other settings, but you should need to do that only once.
    Another possibility, perhaps additional....
If that machine had been stored for a long while, the internal battery may be too weak or dead. If that is the case, replacing it is the solution.
However, if that machine is a Beige/Platinum desktop model (not an iMac nor a B&W), chances are the battery is okay - those older desktop G3 models usually won't display anything on the monitor if the internal battery is shot.

  • As an update, I installed an update 5.7on my Mac laptop, now the Lightroom 5.0 has become a "Lightroom Mobile" version.  How can change it back to the laptop version?

As an update, I installed an update 5.7on my Mac laptop, now the Lightroom 5.0 has become a "Lightroom Mobile" version.  How can change it back to the laptop version 5.7?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

LR on your laptop is still a desktop version.  It is just now able to upload to the cloud to replicate photos to either http://lightroom.adobe.com/ or an iPad that has LR Mobile installed.
I think you probably just want to change the LR 5 identity plate back so it doesn’t mention LR Mobile all the time.  Hover over the identity-plate area, and click on the little triangle that appears, then choose Change Identity Plate.

  • I changed my apple id but the apple id for icloud did not change on my mac.  How do I get icloud account information to change and match my new apple id?

I changed my apple id but the applie id for icloud did not change on my mac in system preferences.
I have changed my apple id on system preferences under users and groups but the icloud preferences don't pick up the change.
I restarted my computer, and still no change.
I have been using icloud under my old apple id for mail calendars and notes.
How do I get icloud account information to change on my mac's system preferences and match my new apple id?
    I am missing something.
    Please help.  Thanks.

Thank you Roger, your solution gave me the courage to sign out of Systems Preferences.  The pop up told me it was going to delete my contact and other information from my mac, so I was hesitant to do that.  Well I did as you directed and I was able to sign in with my new apple id and I did not lose the information the pop up threatened I was going to.  So again thank you.  It is the little things that make a big difference sometimes.

  • How to change the Apple ID for iPhotos and iMovies(The first ID used in the mac book)?

I found that every time when I want to update the iphotos and imovies and the native apps in the mac book it is needed to use the first apple id that used for the first time you turn on the mac book.
Since that id is not used now and i want to change it, any body knows how to change it?
And although my current admin id has changed, but still when updating iphotos the very first id is needed...

Correct.  Apps are Tied to the Apple ID that Purchased them...
    From Here   http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Question on iCloud accts:  I have my iPhone and iPad on one account, but my Mac is set up on my old mobile me acct.  Can't figure out how to change an iCloud account number on my Mac so I can sync all three.

Question on iCloud accounts:  I have my iPhone and iPad on one iCloud account, but my Mac is on my old Mobile me account.  Can't figure out how to change my iCloud account on my MacBook Pro so all 3 are synced.

First, open System Preferences > MobileMe and log out. Then, open  > About this Mac and see Version. If you see 10.5.x or 10.6.x, see > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If your Mac is compatible, upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and purchase OS X Mountain Lion.
When you have upgraded, go to System Preferences > iCloud and follow its steps

  • I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. A large chunk of emails have disappeared. Time Machine is no help. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

I recently changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac. Despite using Migration Assistant, a large chunk of my recent emails and nearly all of my wife's emails have disappeared in transit. Strangely, emails from my distant past are still there. Time Machine is no help; the messages may be on my backup disc but they're behind an invisible  icon. Any ideas as to how I can get them back?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • How do I prevent other Mac users from changing my Airport Extreme Network Name and Password within the Airport Utility?

How do I prevent other Mac users from changing my Airport Extreme Network Name and Password within the Airport Utility?  My company is using an Airport Extreme in our office now and I want to prevent other employees from messing with the network/settings.  Is there a way to place a password on the settings to allow only the admin to access the network name and password?

Hi - you have will have to change the device passwords on all the base stations and then don't give them to anyone except the administrators and tell them not to save them on their computers that use the older versions of the Airport Utility - for the newer versions like the mobile apps, as soon as you enter the pasword it is saved and is visible in the advanced pane along with the network password - so if anyone gets a hold of your iPad or iPhone, they can edit the whole network - I have this same issue with my networks in the office and it is inconvenient but doable - I hope this helps
