When attempting to download latest version of Firefox, a window pops up to say I need to change the desktop setting. I don't know how to do this. Thanks

You can change your password by restarting and holding the Command and R keys so you restart on the Recovery Hard Drive. Then select the Utilities drop down from the menu bar, and Terminal. When Terminal opens, type exactly:
resetpassword
and press Enter.
When the Reset Password window opens, select the hard drive, highlight the user name, and type a new password twice. Do not enter a Hint. Select Save, and accept the next window that opens. At the bottom of the Reset Password window, Reset the home directory permissions, quit the Reset Password, and click the apple left side of the menu bar and Restart.

wjosten is spot on. If you really want iCloud, then you will need to acquire a new or second hand MBP that can run Lion.

Your Photoshop CC can be installed on a Mac or PC. Just install the Mac CC Desktop app and install Photoshop CC from there. It will be in your Application folder.

I am trying to figure out how to change a setting in the Java Control Panel with command line or with a script. I want to enable "Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format"
I can't seem to find any documentation on how to change settings in the Java Control Panel via the command line

OK figured it out. This is for the next person seeking the same solution.
When you click on the Java Control Panel (found in the Control panel) in any version of Windows, it first looks for a System Wide Java Configuration (found here: C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment). At this point you must be wondering why you don't have this folder (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) or why its empty. Well, for an enterprise environment, you have to create it and place something in it - it doesn't exist by default. So you'll need a script (I used Autoit) to create the directory structure and place the the two files into it. The two files are "deployment.properties" and "deployment.config".
Example: When you click on the Java Control Panel it first checks to see if this directory exists (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) and then checks if there is a "deployment.config". If there is one it opens it and reads it. If it doesn't exist, Java creates user settings found here C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7.

If you look in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7 for example you will find "deployment.properties". You can use this as your default example and add your settings to it.

Easy. If you want to add *"Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format"*

deployment.security.SSLv2Hello=true
Maybe you want to disable Java update (which is a big problem for enterprises)
Add these lines:
deployment.javaws.autodownload=NEVER

Below is a basic AutoIt script you could use (It compiles the files into the executable. When you compile the script the two Java files must be in the directory you specify in the FileInstall line, which can be anything you choose. It will also create your directory structure):

HT1428 How to change the account name in Mac OS X via a command line. I did a type-o on the account name. So instead of it saying "Company" it says "Comany" for the account logon.

DAQmx uses the operating system language settings.
try to switch the language settings on your windows system to english, then DAQmx should also be english.

How to change desktop background in AppleScript in 10.7?

I'm just now upgrading from 10.6 to 10.7, and I'm having trouble with a script that I wrote that worked fine under 10.6. In part, it executes the following command:
     osascript -e "tell application \"Finder\" to set destop picture to POSIX file \"<path>\""
to change the desktop background image to one of two different files based on other conditions.
In 10.7, this command completes with no error code, but it only changes the background of one of my four desktops. Is there a way to programmatically change the background image of all of my desktops simultaneously? Failing that, is there a way to a) find out how many desktops I have and b) loop through them, setting each of their backgrounds in turn?
I did search the web and found the following suggestion:
     osascript -e "tell application \"System Events\" to set picture of every desktop to \"<path>\""
Unfortunately, that also changes only the current desktop's picture.
The larger script is in Perl, so I'd prefer a technology that works well with that language, but if I have to change to a different scripting language, that's not the end of the world.

Actually, “repeat with k from 18 to (18 + N - 1)” was not a good idea, since it works only with N < 5, as I discovered after posting the script.
So here's an improved version of the previous script that should work with any number of desktops:

RRMX opens a default report. How to change this setting ?????

Hi all,
If we type RRMX transaction code, it should go to BEx, but user has reported that whenever he types RRMX it opens a particular REPORT. How can we change this setting so that the default report will not be opened, PLEASE ? It seems it started after upgrading to BW 3.5.

Thanks for your response. I have created a TEST User Id with the User Id that has the problem. I am not getting any default report with the TEST User Id when I type RRMX, just it goes to BEx (blank) only, but not to the report.
I have followed your navigation steps (Business Explorer Tab/Setting/ New Workbook on embed) with TEST User Id and 'is based on permanent template' is checked' under 'New Workbook on embed', but not 'is empty'.
I will go to the User's desk tomorrow and check the BEx settings on his PC.

Go into Expose & Spaces preferences (under the Personal category), click on the "Spaces" tab, and at the bottom of the window is the "Keyboard and Mouse Shortcuts" panel. The second drop-down menu for "to activate Spaces" will say "Secondary Mouse Button". (hence spaces being activated when you click the 'secondary mouse button' - bottom right corner of the trackpad) Change this menu to the "-" or "Middle Mouse Button" (since there is no middle mouse button on an  trackpad, this will do the same thing as the "-").
And have you tried the two-finger tap option. That's what I personally use the most.

We will load delta Intial with data transfer every weekend , and we run delta everyday , because we do delta init with data transfer with selections say ( 01.20011 to 12.2003 ) every weekend , hope I need to create new delta infopack with new data selections say ( 01.2004 to 12.9999) only to get update data in Infocube.

I want to change the System name and other settings such as app Store, calendars etc to my own profile as i still see his name come up all the time. i cannot update Apps on the store as it keeps asking me for his password.

Do you mean you have a Macbook Pro (laptop) versus a Mac Pro (desktop)?
You can back up the MBP, restart using Command+R to boot into the Mavericks Recovery HD, erase the Mactintosh HD and Reinstall OS X. Then you can go through setup and configure it with your information and Apple ID. Mavericks should not prompt you for an Apple ID when it goes through the install since that OS is free.
One thing you might want to consider is asking the previous owner to unregister the MBP from his Apple ID if he previously registered it. Then you can register it under your Apple ID.
The previous owner should have wiped it clean and reinstalled the OS that came pre-installed before selling it.

How to change desktop background at specific time of day

Pretty much all in the title, although i guess i should add that it would be good if I could have the background change on all desktops at once. Basically I'd just like to have daytime themed images in the day and nighttime themed ones at, you guessed it, night. Thanks in advance!

A hacky way of doing it would be:
Make 12 copies of the daytime image, but give them different names
Make 12 copies of the nightime image, but give them different names
Put the images in a folder.
Opern the folder in System Preferences ----> Desktop
Select the images. Make sure it is set to change the pictures every hour.
But the question is ----> Will this work if you switch your mac off ? XD
Probably not.
Perhaps you should look for an app in the app store that can do this.
