How to change DNS name ?

I have an iMac and Macbook Pro, both of which I set up to triple-boot Leopard, XP and Ubuntu. I've noticed that after booting into one of the other OSes, the DNS Name of that machine shown in Remote Desktop will remain whatever it was called in Ubuntu/XP even after rebooting into OS X.
On the iMac this seems to revert to normal after some time/number of reboots but the MBP insists on appearing as ubuntu.config in ARD and as ubuntu in my command line prompt in Terminal. This is especially annoying as I have since wiped the two extra partitions and returned to a single volume of OS X.
I know it's hardly a big deal but I've tried everything I can think of and I'd appreciate some advice.

Well I have the correct hostname in Terminal now.
I tried the obvious things (SysPrefs->Sharing->Computer Name->Edit->Local Hostname). Rebooted, same old same old. I tried running sudo hostname <my choice>, rebooted, no change.
Finally I ran sudo nano /etc/hostconfig, added a line HOSTNAME=<my choice>, rebooted and my prompt was correct but Remote Desktop still showed ubuntu.config. My /etc also has a hostconfig~ so I added the HOSTNAME line to that and rebooted but Remote Desktop just refuses to recognise it.
I've had a poke round in every plist I can find that seems relevant but I'm all out of ideas.

an other solution is change the block property QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_TYPE from "Table" to "Sub-query" , than change at run time the property QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME.
First create block and add items
The QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME will be for ex. "Select 'A' as col1, 'B' AS col2, 'C' as col3 from dual"
Set into items the column name property to col1 , col2 ...
At run time change the query to "Select 'Z' as col1, 'X' as col2 , 'Y' as col3 from dual"
in this way you can change the source of column value.
Caution because if you change value type from varchar2 to date you must cast date into varchar2.
May be that this way is valid only for view data not for insert-update, i don't remember.

you can change it in System Landscape directory.
Go to the http:yourportal.com:50000/sld
then click on the Landscape and update the new host name.

Go to the open dialog in Pages and select iCloud.
Click on the folder that you created on iCloud to open the folder.
On the lower half of the window (the open folder) click on the name of the folder.
Once you click and select the folder's name it should be editable.

How to change of NAME and IP after RAC installation.

I have a challenge here...Would appreciate if anyone can help me..
I have to install 10.2.0.3 Oracle RAC on windows 2003 server 64 bit.
My issue is now the server names and ips are set and I am going to install the RAC.
But the client need is that after one month, they need to change the names and ips of the servers (a one time change).
Because according to their server naming standards, current production servers are having the acceptable names and ips.
The installation was on a 32 bit OS, so they are facing out of process memory errors. Thats why they are going to 64 bit OS on new servers.
After the new servers are ready, the data will be migrated to new server. After a month, they need to change the names of new servers to that of the old (current production) servers.
Could anybody help me by giving me information about how to change the NAME and IP after a RAC installation ?

Hi,
You can change the IP later but you can not change the hostname of the system.
You have to install CRS freah if you want to change the hostname of the system.
Please let us know which IP you want to change.
You can see the metalink Note.276434.1 for VIP or VIP hostname change.

OK, working on an Advanced Server that was setup months ago. An active server used by a small workgroup. It was setup using server1.domain1.local DNS name and now would like to change it to server2.domain2.com Can this be done, if so how? It will have the same external and internal IP addresses.- Lewis

Thanks for your attention for my humble problem.
I have performed Meeting Place Express configuration through the “net” command.
But now unfortunately I can't connect to meeting place through web browser. I just get blank page.
Though I can reach the server with help of ssh. I think my DNS works properly because I can resolve the ip address of cumpxvoice .uclab.com and cumpxweb. uclab.com with help of dig command.
Have you any idea?

Possible to change DNS name?

Hi all,
I would like to chnage the name of my DNS name(currently server.mydomain.com) as I have recently purchased a VPS that I would like to give the sever.mydomain.com name to. The current DNS name is purely internal and does not relate to anything outside the server or router that it is behind. I have already unresolved the IP to the DNS Name at a public level in anticipation of the new VPS.
Is it as simple as changing the DNS name in Server Admin, or do I need to do something at root level?
Any ideas owuld be greatly appreciated!!
