How to change DNS zone, or how to host email outside of BC
I have BC from Creative Cloud Suite, so I have the cheapest possible plan for BC. Meaning I don't get any email hosting. So I was looking to host email outside of BC. I looked it up on google to see if it could be done (I'm really new with all this hosting stuff!), and I found that if you change the DNS zone and MX records to certain things you could. I had to delete the MX record I had set up prior to finding out BC won't host my email, and I went to set up an Advance DNS Records.. But I'm not sure what to do! There's a lot of information I'm not sure about, and I don't know what goes where!
I'd like to have godaddy host my email, and what I found is that I need to change my DNS zone to: mailstore1.secureserver.net and change MX records to 0 smtp.secureserver.net 10 mailstore1.secureserver.net
I may end up finding somewhere else to host email at a later point, but right now I just want to try to figure out how to do this so I'll be able to in the future. Any and all help is appreciated! Thank youHi
All you need to do is go to Admin > Site Settings > Site Domains and activate your new domain. You’ll have to enter an MX record for e-mail to be setup, which will be provided by godaddy.

Let me know how it goes -
I have a new DNS/DHCP server that is separate from Novell. I have several Novell file/print servers, but I need to change the DNS entries in all of them. I need to know the process of how I can go into each server and change the DNS settings to point to the new DNS server I've made. Thank you for your assistance.

If by "Novell file/print servers" you mean NetWare servers then you
first need to edit the resolv.cfg file in sys:\etc directory.
How to put the changes into effect then depends on the version of
NetWare you are running - if NetWare 5.1 SP8, NetWare 6.0 SP5 or NetWare
6.5 SP2 or later you can enter WS2_32 RELOAD RESOLVE at the server's
prompt. See TID# 7001355 for this and other reload commands.
Of course for any version of NetWare you can use the ultimate reload
mechanism - restart the server!
HTH.

How to change DNS name ?
I have an iMac and Macbook Pro, both of which I set up to triple-boot Leopard, XP and Ubuntu. I've noticed that after booting into one of the other OSes, the DNS Name of that machine shown in Remote Desktop will remain whatever it was called in Ubuntu/XP even after rebooting into OS X.
On the iMac this seems to revert to normal after some time/number of reboots but the MBP insists on appearing as ubuntu.config in ARD and as ubuntu in my command line prompt in Terminal. This is especially annoying as I have since wiped the two extra partitions and returned to a single volume of OS X.
I know it's hardly a big deal but I've tried everything I can think of and I'd appreciate some advice.
ThanksWell I have the correct hostname in Terminal now.
I tried the obvious things (SysPrefs->Sharing->Computer Name->Edit->Local Hostname). Rebooted, same old same old. I tried running sudo hostname <my choice>, rebooted, no change.
Finally I ran sudo nano /etc/hostconfig, added a line HOSTNAME=<my choice>, rebooted and my prompt was correct but Remote Desktop still showed ubuntu.config. My /etc also has a hostconfig~ so I added the HOSTNAME line to that and rebooted but Remote Desktop just refuses to recognise it.
I've had a poke round in every plist I can find that seems relevant but I'm all out of ideas. -
No question, I just wanna say thanks to the person who discovered how to change the correct dns to use FaceTime. The 8.8.8.8. Really work. Genius. Thanks again.

Capitalization of DNS via Powershell? How to Change?
Yes - I understand DNS is case insensitive, but when working with a windows/linux environment we have an issue when doing zone transfers in linux.
host -l domain.com produces a variety of results that are have mixed capitalization. We're trying to determine how to rename DNS entries so that they are lowercase.
Is there any way to do it aside from removing a computer and rejoining it to the domain? Not a scripting question. You need to ask in the DNS/Directory Services forum.
There is NO reason to change case on DNS. No web, Windows or Unix system pays attention to case. Unix will but only if you configure it to detect case in dns names. Windows cannot be configured to enforce case.
Unix and Windows web servers can be configured to enforce case in url strings but are not set to do this by default. I have not seen it done for more than ten years.
THe case of names in Indows AD integrated DNS comes from the system names. You would have to rename the systems to fix that. It cannot be done in DNS or in AD.

Windows 2012 R2 / Windows Essentials Role. How to keep from Changing DNS.
So I have asked this question in the windows 2012 Server board and was directed to try it here in the essentials.
that existing thread is here >>
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/11cfbc1b-0001-42d6-85c1-304d1e450679/windows-2012-r2-windows-essentials-role-how-to-keep-from-changing-dns?forum=winserver8gen
now to the question
Ok so I will describe my problem as best as I can.
I have 2 Servers Both 2012 R2 Standard 1 is Primary Domain controller and one is the Secondary Domain controller. I had everything set up on the domain and the Primary Domain controller was set up as the DNS on ALL clients (Static).
Recently I set up the secondary domain controller with Essentials. All went well I added all the clients to connect with Essentials. a few days went by and now all of a sudden all the Static DNS's are all changed to the Essentials box.
This Really wouldn't be a problem to me except the performance level of that DNS is EXTREAMLY slow. I run to all clients and change the static back and everything works great. then a little while goes by and all DNS's are again to the Essentials box.
SO my question would be. Is there any way to configure the Essentials box to stop redirecting the DNS to itself and keep the Primary domain controller as the DNSHi Curtis_bob,
I noticed that Olaf had provided
KB2862551 in the old thread. Just check if Olaf’s suggestion can help you to solve this issue.
If this issue still exists, would you please let me confirm whether has also installed DNS server role on the
Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (with Windows Server Essentials Experience role)?
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
Best regards,

How to change the OraSSO login link in webcache/load balance
Hi
we have 10gAsR1 installed as a Portal instance. We have 6-server
load balancer => webcache as loadbalancer (listening port 80)
Wb ch1 and wb ch2 => webcache (listening port 7777)
portal1 and portal2 => Portal listening 7778
infra =>Infrastruture with repository Portal/Oracle SSO (listening 7777)
This set up is working fine for our intranet setup, now we need to open this for couple of external clients. Well initially we need to open on the load balancer server on port 80 for external team to access, it works fine when we make it publc access.
Now when we need to make it SSO (siteminder) enables, when users click on login link it first goes oracle sso then it internally redirects the page to site minder sso.
Well, I have noted that the sso server details are mentioned in global setting sso/oid details. Since we need to open this for external client we have to add a DNS entry for this so that we can allow its access over firewall..
Now I have made DNS name change at my infrserver level, now I need to update the change at the load balancer server (where wheb chache is running).
Any one know how to chang the URL at load balancer.
I am struck at this point please suggest how should i proceed..

How to change CUE ip address?
Hi,
We moved to a new location and using comcast as ISP. I was setting up the phone system today and met a few problems.
1. First of all, all the phones are connected and working(total of 4), but I can only see 3 of them showing up in the CCA. Whats happening here?
2. I wanted to change the user name which appears on the phone using the CCA, CCA told me that the settings were successfully sent to UC520, I restarted the phone and uc520, but the names on the phones remain unchanged?
3. I forgot the password of the voicemail for one of the phone, and wanted to changed in the CUE. so I went to 10.1.10.1,but some comcast login page showed up instead of CUE. so I want to know how to change the IP address of CUE? I don`t know the CLI commands so please teach me if it can only be done with CLI. I have only used CCA in the past. Could this be the reason why for problem 1 and 2? I`m feeling wierd because all the phones can be used to call in/out.
my data vlan is 192.168.0.0 and voice vlan is 192.168.2.0 let me know if you need any other info.
need help urgently as I want to resolve this problem asap.
Thanks in advance.

endhow to change local ip address?Via an operating system command.
It's not the sort of thing an application should be doing at all. IP addresses these days are assigned via DHCP. Why would you want to change it from within an application? It would probably disconnect all sockets for all running applications, invalidate the login, all kinds of bad effects.
What is the actual requirement? -

In the existing setup, does WLC management & APs are on the same vlan ? If that is the case you may have not configured any of the below, as AP L3 broadcast reach WLC & in that way AP will learn about WLC.
If WLC & APs are on different vlan you may already use one of WLC discovery method listed below.
1. DHCP Option 43
2. DNS
3. UDP broadcast forwarding
4. Static configuration
When you change the WLC management IP address, AP need to know what is the new IP & you can modify the configuration of the method you used.

I am setting up a home network and new to server.
In the initial setup I started to perform server auto configured my DNS nicely.
My server is a DNS server also.
But now I bought a domain name for the family and was thinking of using that domain name.
How would I change the DNS?I found this, it may help. I think your on track with the changeip.
http://www.afp548.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=22822
And then I believe this will work.
sudo changeip - 192.0.0.12 192.0.1.10 oldhost newhost
But what I'd do is go
man changeip
In the terminal to bring up the manual, because it does depend on the role of the server how you change the information.
LDAP Master would be like;
changeip /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 192.0.0.12 192.0.1.10 oldhost newhost
Standalone Server
changeip - 192.0.0.12 192.0.1.10 oldhost newhost
If I come across some more info I'll post back. -
Hi all,
i have an Exchange 2010 Organisation spanning 2 sites.
I am migrating DC and DNS from Windows 2003 R2 to Windows 2008 R2, and a new DC and DNS is already in place.
My questions are:
1) any known impacts in changing DNS on Network Settings on my Exchange Server?
2) Where do i have to modify - on Exchange Managemente Console - settings for pointing to a new DC/DNS? any known impacts doing that too?
Thanks to all in advanceAs commented above it will connect to the next available DC in the same site. Jut change the DNS IPs in exchange server and follow any of these if you want to specify which DC/GC to use, and it will not create issues for you.

Changing DNS after 9iAS installation
Could anyone share with me how to change the DNS name (which starts with www) that shows the Oracle HTTP Server Components page when a browser is invoked to other desired web page (in which the DNS does not start at www)after the 9iAS installation.
Thank you.I am having difficulty understanding your sentence ... is it possible to give an example?
There is a ServerName directive in httpd.conf that you could change ... but without understanding the problem I don't want to recommend it. -
How can I get dns codes to stay on the settings? The first time I changed dns codes on my iPad it remembered it fine. This lasted a week and since any code I enter gets wiped as soon as I leave the screen and goes back to the original code.
The only way to have these settings be permanent is to change from DHCP-based IP allocation to static IP allocation. If you do this the IP you specify must be outside the range of IP addresses that your router uses for DHCP.
