How to change fonts in the Finder window

How does one change change fonts in the Finder Window?
I've done it before and I know it's different in the Side Bar and for the fonts in Column View or List View.
It doesn't seem to be in Finder Preferences.
I can't find in in System Preferences.
It's not in Font Book.
Where is it???
TIA

If you click the Action Gear you have the option to change font sizes. I am not sure if changing the font per se is possible without a system hack which I do not recommend.

  • How to change fonts in iTunes for Windows?

    Typeface in bold type is difficult to read and I want to change it. I looked everywhere online and could not find a simple solution, but then found one myself which seems to work. I have iTunes 10 and Windows Vista.
    For some reason there's a conflict or problem with the Helvetica fonts.
    Go to the folder C:windows/fonts. Wait for full font list to load, then sort in alphabetical order. Minimise that window, then open another Windows folder and navigate to a folder where you know you won't accidentally delete a folder. (I have a folder named "Keep" that I never move or delete to store important stuff). Create a new folder in that folder (organise>new folder) and name it Helvetica fonts.
    Restore the Fonts window you minimised, then locate all Helvetica fonts you have (they should all be together if you sorted alphabetically). Select all Helvetica fonts and click and drag across to the Helvetica fonts file. You may be asked to confirm permission to do this. Confirm that all Helvetica fonts are in the new folder then close that window.
    Return to the Fonts window and delete the selected Helvetica fonts. You will be asked for permission and get several pop up windows checking you really want to do this. **For some reason I was not able to delete Helvetica bold but the fix still worked.
    When all Helvetica fonts are deleted (except for ** above if you had that problem too), then go to File>Install New Font at the top of the Fonts folder window. Navigate using the drop down box to find the folder where you saved the Helvetica fonts. The Helvetica fonts should all list in the right hand pane of the dialog box. IMPORTANT: at the bottom of the dialog box is a check box "Copy Fonts to Fonts Folder" - make sure this is NOT checked. You do not want the fonts reinstalled in the Fonts folder. Click Select All, the Install. All fonts should install, but their actual files remain in the new folder you created. As long as you don't delete this new folder the Helvetica fonts will be available to all programs which need them - but for some reason iTunes will now select a different font to display in iTunes.
    And if it doesn't work the way you want, simply re-open Windows/Fonts, then repeat the installation instructions above but this time make sure the check box "copy fonts to font folder" IS checked and all will be restored.
    Did this help anyone?

  • How to change font size in Finder system wide?

    Hi all, I'm wanting to increase the size of the font in 'Finder' in my folders. I've increased the size of fonts in Firefox and it looks much better. I went into 'Finder', 'Show View Options' and I can change the size of fonts, but it's for every individual folder not for all the folders on the system...
    I'm running Mavericks.
    Thanks!

    You can set the font size for the Finder, when you open the folders iin icon view, then the button "Use as default" will be available.

    If you need a GUI to change the owner of a file or files, try BatChMod
    Download BatChmod 1.51
    Works on 10.5 and 10.6
    http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/BatchMod/Download.html
    Here are similar teminal commands:
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    #Your current user is:
    echo $USER
    #Let's assume myuser
    #Or, you can use the id command.
    id
    #Remember, this will be the correct userid.  You need to find the bad userid.
    #You need to look on one of your bad files. To find out your UID and GID do:
    cd ~
    ls -ln
    ls -l
    ls -ln filename-of-bad-file
    Now, compare the output and write down what you find.
    You best use the numeric value of the old userid. In this case it is 501.  Before you do a command that will change files,  you should  list all  the files to be changed.   From an administrator  account, enter the following command:
    sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec ls -l {} \;
    # the system will ask for your log on password.  Type it in.  The letters will not appear on the screen.  Then, press the enter key.
    # adding a -x before the / limits the search to the current file system which will be your startup partition.
    # To stop the display press control-c ( hold down the control key then press c )
    mac $ sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec ls -l {} \;
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/AppleWorks 6
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleWorks Essentials
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/Contents/MacOS/Clippings
    -rwxr-xr-x   1 na  unknown  0 Oct 23  2001 /Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks
    ^C
    This command will change the ownership of a file.
    Any file or folder with a userid of 501 is changed to 1000.  Your numbers will differ.
    sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec chown 1000  {} \;
    #And you need to do this from an administrator id.
    More examples:
    sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec chown 5464 {} \;
    sudo find -x / -group 20 -exec chgrp 211 {} \;
    #combined change of uid & gid
    sudo find -x / -user 501 -exec chown 5464:211 {} \;
    Hope this helps a little.

  • How do I change the user name that appears next to the House icon on the Finder Window?

    I'm giving my old iMac to my father-in-law and would like to change the user name from mine to his.
    I've edited my Account info and changed it to his, but this does not seem to change the name in the finder window.

  • The finder window for an external USB hard disk suddenly started separating files by time (today, yesterday, etc.) and stopped allowing me to change column width, order, etc. Also the header bar shifted to flat white from gray.

    The finder window for an external USB hard disk suddenly started separating files by time (today, yesterday, etc.) and stopped allowing me to change column width, order, etc. Also the header bar shifted to flat white from gray.
    All was normal until the icon for the disk stopped showing up on the desktop when I would plug it in. I rebooted the computer, and the disk icon now shows up but this new look to the finder window started as a result. The hard disk does not have this problem when I use it on another Mac running Snow leopard. Also, two other external hard disks that I use on this computer running lion 7.4 still have the normal header bars with columns that can be reordered, etc.
    I have tried looking in preferences and other places but have not seen this discussed.

    Well duh - I finally figured out that somehow in the View options for the hard drive, the "arrange by" option had been changed to "by date" from "none". Not sure how that happened, I had never used the "view options" menu tem before. Changing "arrange by" back to "none" gets the gray column headers and the collapsible folder icons back.

  • Find/Change won't let me load any fonts in the "Find Glyph:" tab

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to do a basic find/change to replace the " in a document. However when I try to choose a font family, the tab window is either grayed out or won't let me load the font I need, even though the font is loaded and active. It's very erratic; it will work fine with some files but not with others. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    InDesign v.5.0.2
    OS X 10.4.11

    i have the same issue, will only let me find 1/2 fonts trying to do something similar by importing a word document and doing styling by find/change as the writer doesn't and wont use style sheets.

  • How can I set the finder window to open the same way every time?

    Everytime I open Finder it goes back to it's default view which is just too small, but I want to set the finder columns and window so that they open the same exact way every single time. I'm tired of resizing everything.
    Currently I have to resize every window and column everytime and I think my work is much slower then when I was on Windows because of it.
    Is there a setting, script, file, patch, anything, is there absolutely anything I can do to actually control the Finder views and make them adjust to MY criteria and stay that way...

    That is a big negative. That does absolutely nothing other then close my window, next time the finder window is opened then the column widths are small again.
    In Windows Explorer all your windows are customizable, how do I do this with Finder?

  • How to change font size, maximum column size in the result screen ?

    hi All
    That's great when using SQL Dev.
    But I also have a trouble that how to change font size, maximum column size in the result screen ?
    My users think that font in result screen is shown very small, and whenever the data in each colum is long then it's not shown full data in column, they must double click for extend the size. Have the option to default the max size for showing full data in each column ? I try but still not to do that .
    Appreciate for anyone to help us.
    Thanks all.
    Sigmasvn

    You can't change the font for the results screen yet, however you will be able to select an auto-fit option for selected columns, so if some columns have slitghtly wider text you'll be able to set the column widths to handle these wider columns.
    Also, there s the option of switching the layout of a record in the grid.

    How do I change font in the whole document at the same time?

    Menu > View > Show Styles Drawer
    Menu > Help > Pages User Guide
    Download and read page 27 on creating and using Styles, which is done largely by example ie you make the text what you want then save it as a Style to be applied wherever you want in the document from the Styles Drawer.
