How to change Mac Login screen background?

I realize how to rename the four files "apple.png, apple_s1.png, [email protected], and [email protected]", in the Resources directory. But my picture keeps showing this grey bar at the bottom of the screen. I keep playing around with the resolution and it still shows. My macbook screen resolution is 1280x800. When I adjust the picture in "Preview", and change the height, it ends up cutting off the top of the picture but making the grey bar at the bottom smaller. Helps but it doesn't. Can you?

Hello,

  • How do you change the login screen background?

I have been looking everywhere in the setting on how to change the background on the login screen and i can't find it, does anyone know how to do it without having to download an app?

Make sure you check your operating system first, because there are a few ways to do this.
This is for Mac OS X 10.7.5
First find out what your screen size is by going into System Preferences and clicking on display. Mine is at 1920x12000, but you might want to go with a picture thats a little bit bigger.
Find your picture, I edited mine in photoshop, but I think you can edited in Preview or some other photo converter. Make sure the picture is the same size as the display, convert it to a PNG by exporting it or saving it to a PNG format on to your desktop.
    Go to your Macintosh Hardrive
    Go to: System / Library / PrivateFrameworks / LoginUIKit.framework /  Versions/A/Frameworks / Log inUICore.framework / Versions / A /  Resources / appleLinen.png / [email protected]
Make sure your photo file has the same name as appleLinen.png. Replace appleLinen.png with the new picture by droping it in the resources folder.
Make a copy of that same picture and paste it on to your desktop. Rename it to [email protected]. Then replace [email protected] with that picture file.
This should allow you to place a new background to your login screen, but I myself am still working out the kinks. You will notice your sleep, restart, and shutdown buttons will disappear.
Now if you have a much older operating system on your computer there is an easier way to do this.
This is for Mac OS X 10.7.1,2,3,4

Make sure your photo file has the same name as NSTexturedFullScreenBackgroundColor.png. Replace NSTexturedFullScreenBackgroungColor.png with the new picture by droping it in the resources folder.
    That's it for that!!!
Good Luck, I hope I can find the answere about why the sleep, restart and shutdown buttons disappear on the screen.
Oh... and don't forget to save the exsisting files that are already there in another folder and lable it.

  • How does one change the login screen background

I have changed my desktop background picture few weeks ago with a picture I took. recently I have changed it again to one of the default pictures in OS Yosemite.
The problem is many times when I login to my computer, it shows the old picture I had instead of the one I currently set. I delete the old picture completely (from my hard drive and trash folder).
    I will appreciate any help!
    Thanks

I checked the hard drive and could not find the picture. However, it is still appear on the login screen :\

my mac book pro mountion lion system  login screen background wont show and only shows a light white/blue as the background how can i fix it ? i tried everything from loginox to onyx and it still wont solve the problem. instead of the default dark grey startup screen  the background is white with a blue tint to it. the only time that the default background shows is when i log off and relog in

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I think that your Mac detects your hard disk, but the problem is that your new hard disk doesn't contain any operating system, so your Mac doesn't find any bootable partition and you see a question mark.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting. Then, just install Mac OS X. If the hard disk isn't prepared to install Mac OS X, you will have to erase it using "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html

  • How Do I Change The Logon Screen Background?

    Hi...
I was wondering how to go about changing the logon screen background... You know... The screen background you see when you first boot the Mac and it's sitting at the logon window waiting to be logged on?
    Thanks in advance!!

You can do this with OnyX: http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php
The image you want to use has to be in one of a few locations:
This button allows you to choose a replacement image for the background of the Login Window. By default, the application directs you to the folder containing the Desktop Pictures of Mac OS X (/Library/Desktop Pictures/...). You can choose another image but it must be accessible by all users, for example in the Public, Shared or Sites folder.
Formats accepted: PNG, JPEG, JPEG-2000, GIF, PSD, TIFF, TGA, BMP.
It's in the Parameters > Login tab.

  • Login Screen Background Image

I have my mac configured so that you must pick your userid and then enter the password in order to log in. After upgrading to 10.5, the image displayed in the background of the initial login screen is the Time Machine image. This changed from what I had it set to before the upgrade, but I can't seem to find where to change this image. I was able to change the image for the desktop, but I can't seem to find where to change the login screen image.
    Any help appreciated!

Go into your Macintosh HD drive, then the System folder, then Library to find a folder called Core Services, there is a file called DefaultDesktop.jpg, copy this file to another location, DONT DELETE IT!!! Then find a picture you want to use and rename it to DefaultDesktop.jpg and copy it into the Core Services folder, confirm to replace the existing one, it may ask for a password, input the password, restart and this should do it.

  • Changing database (login screen) in 10.1.3 Jclient ADF

I have heard that in Jdev 10.1.3 there will be working login screen, but it is made exactly like in 10.1.2.
During creating fe master-detail form, You can set in wizard to create login screen, but this is only simple user/pass panel. If You want to change database during runtime it is not that simple. Everything is taken from applicationModule. There is an example (made by Frank) how to build login screen (using database list from file). Is there an example how to build complete login screen with database, sid, log, pass... ?
    thx,
    Jacek

    Hi Frank,
I have a related question could you take a look at following thread:
Setting v$session.program property in application module config
I would like to have a identifier of the application in the v$session.view/table
For the first JClient login it works but when a new application module instance is opened the v$session.program is empty?
Is there global solution for all application modules no matter the application (Web/JClient/...), another identifier field is ok.
    Thanks
    Fred

  • How to change the page Header background colour in a Theme

    Hello,
I want to know how to change the page header background colour. If you are in the Editor I don't find a property where to change it.
If you are in the Theme Editor in the header bar I want to change stands <b>Theme Editor</b>. This (in my case blue colored bar) I want to change in another color.

    Hello Radhika,
thanks for your answer. Where do I find the option for the pageheader in System Administration>Portal Display>Theme Editor ->IView Trays exactly?
The pageheader is a picture, which must be uploaded for the web dynpro. Why should any webdynpro element in the ivew tray. There is no relationship between these two parts.
I have not found any option to change the web dynpro pageheader. Could there any extra theme editor for webdynpro?
    Thanks.
    Olaf

  • How to change mac address on mac

i'm sry i'm not sure if this is the right section or not but yeah.... nyways does anyone know how to change mac address on a macbook?

If you have not updated your OS you can use the following command.
    sudo ifconfig enX ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
You will need to replace the X with your network number and the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with the mac you want to have.
    Then run
    sudo ifconfig enX down
    sudo ifconfig enX up
This change will last till your next reboot.
    cheers
NOTE: This is not working in 10.5

  • How to change mac address on time capsule

    Hi there,
How to change mac address on time capsule?

There are routers that allow you to create/clone a mac address to whatever you like. Since many companies use the mac address to 'register' a unit connected to it's system, you usually just have to let them know you've changed your router and they will reset your system to accept connections from the new device.

It sounds like a bit of a mess and what you may need is an onsite PC tech to do some maintenance on your PC.
Also, learning to properly use punctuation (particularly periods) might not be a bad idea. As it is, your post was very hard to read.
    Good luck!
