  • How to install ovi suite to a drive other than C:?...

how to install ovi suite to a drive other than c:??? my c: drive is almost full with other partitions perfectly free to install it, how do i do that? can i use previous versions of ovi suite to use with my e63? at this point, i'm unable to use ovi suite at all, because there's no room to install it on my c: drive.
allllllllso there's one more thing, when i originally had tried installing ovi suite on my computer i had more than 1gb free. after installing it i on'ly had 500mb free. i had only intended for it to use a very small amount of space, and since i also use my c: drive for virtual memory i quickly uninstalled it, looking for an option i'd maybe skipped over while installing it the first time. no luck. anyways, when i looked in the add/remove programs control panel the installed size of ovi suite was only 40-50mb. even after uninstalling ovi suite the extra memory space that seemed to all of a sudden taken up by the installation stayed used.
when looking at the file sizes of everything on my hard drive, (including system files and paging file) there is still a descreprency between the amount of memory used and the size of all files total on the drive. at this point im quite disgusted and disapointed in ovi suite as i'm mostly unable to use it to connect my phone to my computer and i'm also having problems with the CA101 cable as well. i guess i'll have to go check for another cable.
nokia!!! wake up and fix yo **bleep**!!!!
anyone have any solutions for the main problem? (installing to a drive other than c? is there support for this option in any of the new beta versions? can that be included in the newest betas? i'm suuuuuure i'm not the only one begging for this option!!!

Hi ostrenga4, sorry to hear about your experiences.
When installing Nokia Ovi Suite to PC, Windows makes "system restoration points", which are available to restore operating system to previous condition, if something goes wrong, for example in driver installation.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
    - Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
    - Start Windows Command prompt
    - From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
    - Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
    - This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
    - Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)
As you can see, this is possible, but it is very much recommend to have enough space for installing software into system drive.
    Cheers, Samuli

  • How to install ovi suite to D drive?

How to install Ovi Suite to the D drive?
The installer does not offer any options. -SS.
My C drive is full and there is not enough space for the humoungous Ovi suite. As a matter of my personal policy, I never install any application to my C drive. I have created a separate D partition expressly for installing applications.

  • Problem connecting C3-01 to OVI Suite via USB

I can't seem to successfully connect my C3-01 to the OVI Suite via USB.
The PC (running Vista) sees the device, but OVI Suite keeps complaining that I need to change the USB mode on the device to OVI Suite, although that's how I set it.  OVI Suite also doesn't show the device under the update section.  Does work when using Bluetooth though.
Any ideas what may be the issue with the USB connection?
    Thanks!

I just bought Nokia C3-01 over the weekend and I have the newest version of OVI suit and I connect mobile and pc with USB cable click sync and nothing happens my mobile is still without pics and videos and music I'm trying to uplod on the phone?????
Sometimes it writes some contentn was not synced properly error code:80043bee and other times it says sync ok but nothing happens...no pics or video were transfered??

  • How to uninstall Ovi Suite from N97?

For the last 2 months i can not use Ovi Suite from my phone. After the network selection option it stops working and the screen stops loading on OVİ logo and only 1 option in settings which is EXIT.
Is there a way to uninstall OVİ completely from N97 and then reload it?
There is no problem on PC side using OVİ.

    Hi.
You really must mean ovi store on phone.
Try to uninstall it with phone application manager, from installed side, Do not
allow phone to get it again from nokia.
Try to locate old school version of nokia pc tool, not this ovi-manager. I haw probs with w7 too
with this. Now nokia shoul say: AT OWN RISK ONLY AS I TOO !!!!
My N97 had same prob, it did get mini n97 ovi store inside and f..,,ed up from it.
I managed by this way to install working ovi store, but it leaves ovi "plastig back icon" somewhere other folder what even wont work (vines about old ver.), not sure where it was now, cause phone is again at service by other problems....   c'est la vie. mmf    The very best.

  • Ovi Suite + 5230 USB not working

    Preamble:
I recently connected my Nokia 5230 mobile phone to my PC via USB connection and loaded up Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23). Everything worked lovely. But alas! Both an Ovi suite update was available, as well as a update for the phone itself! So I downloaded the latest version of Ovi Suite (3.0.0.284).
Unfortunately, now Ovi Suite does not detect when I select "PC Suite" USB mode (selected on the phone screen). This essentially makes Ovi Suite useless.
So I followed some advice on other discussion pages (more on that later) and reinstalled the Ovi Suite. The problem persisted.
Here are some pictures to help you understand my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/5IknF.jpg
The computer is able detect the phone is connected via USB. I can even browse the contents of the phone memory and memory card. Upon detecting the connected phone, and me pressing 'PC Suite' on the phone screen, it will show this:
    http://i.imgur.com/lV0rs.jpg
I cannot progress past this screen. The Ovi Suite simply does not recognise that I've selected that option on the phone.
    Defense:
I know what your thinking. "Just another USB thread". Well, I did in fact read plenty of threads on this forum before posting, and have spent the last few hours uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and drivers in various ways (as suggested in those threads), with no success.
The following is a list of forum threads which I have read and tried all the solutions found in each, and I have copied the solutions (which appear to have worked for other people), for your convenience:
    /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/Ovi-Suite-PC-Suite-USB-Connection-Problem/td-p/682828
Solutions which did not work for me:
Could you please follow these steps and check?
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    1. Uninstall all nokia related applications like Ovisuite, pc suite, connectivity cable driver,pc connectivity solutions, nokia software updater etc. from ur PC.
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Now download and install the recent ovisuite from http://www.ovi.com/suite
    4. After installation, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
    5. After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.

Solution which did not work for me:
    Hi GannonC,
Uninstall the following Programs, if any, from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.
    http://www.ovi.com/suite
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
After connecting you can go ahead and update your maps/ download new country maps.
NOTE: before updating your maps/ download new country maps, you should have used your maps in you mobile atleast once.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
You can connect back your internet anytime after the drivers installation.

I found this on the Europe forum and it worked for me--finally!
    From /t5/Nseries-and-S60-Smartphones/Synchronisation-error-code-8393f010/m-p/734155/highlight/true#M21944...

Choose Nokia Nokia Cable Connectivity then Change and repair
Do the same for PC Connectivity Solution - Change then repair
    Reboot computer
After re-starting the computer, I also followed this portion of a suggestion from another post (don't know if it made a difference or not):
"connected the device, waited till all the drivers were loaded.
    Then launched Ovi suite"
     (From /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/E52-Sync-Error-8393f010-838c03ee/m-p/740481)
Ovi Suite then recognized my device and the sync appears to have gone smoothly.  I hope it works for you too!  It's ridiculous that it causes so many problems though--I've wasted many hours on something that should have installed correctly the first time.

    Zship's revelations:
So this is not really a problem for me. I have the working, older (2.2.1.23) version of Ovi Suite installed on my netbook, and sure enough, it works fine, I just tried it. I wont be updating Ovi Suite on it though. I also could probably just download the update via 3.5G using just the phone itself, but the problem remains that a simple software update has caused a critical connectivity problem between your software and hardware. Given that many Nokia customers would have less technical know-how than say, myself or anyone else on this forum, this problem is a quite likely a huge inconvenience to them, they probably wouldn't visit these discussions and spend 5 hours reinstalling software like I just did, and they surely would be thinking twice before purchasing another Nokia device in the future.
tl;dr - Nokia recommended update breaks connectivity between software and device, various attempts to fix seemingly simple problem don't work.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

SAME PROBLEM. And none of the many suggested solutions has worked for me yet. I want to thank all on this thread (and many others) for their help. I've learned a lot but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I think maybe Nokia needs to ... uh ... bloody well BOTHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE themselves, maybe. Like, cuz they're PAID FOR IT and I'M NOT. Harrumph.
I run Windows XP, and was on Media Player 11, but have rolled back to 9 and 10. I have a Nokia E 72. I have all the latest Nokia cable-drivers, PC Suite, OVI Suite, Connectivity software, etc.. The symptoms are as follows: when I plug in the phone by USB cable, the laptop won't recognize it. It says "USB device faulty" or "failed to load properly" and refuses to get the hardware into its brain. The Device Manager shows only a "Unknown Device" which I cannot install drivers onto. Taking the extra media-card out of the phone doesn't make any difference -- nothing I've done will make the computer recognize the main (built-in) card in the phone. I can't browse to it via any sort of populate / repopulate disk drive, or any other method of connecting it.
As I understand it, this is some conflict with the phone and the new concept of MTP. Media Transfer Protocol confuses the computer, causing it to kind-of think that the phone is kind-of a media player, when in fact it's a whole lot more. So, the "parent" doesn't get loaded, then the rest of the phone doesn't get loaded, then it kind-of tries to load some MTP but fails, etc.. If I could browse to the phone through a non-Nokia connection I'd be happy to do so in order to implement any of a number of the suggestions above. But I can't get the computer to recognize the phone when the phone is plugged in by USB, regardless of all the solutions above.
The problem began a few days ago. It just up and wouldn't recognize the phone. I hadn't installed any updates that I knew of on either item, but it's possible that my memory is faulty and a newer version of this or that snuck in there and screwed it all up. I have tried a serious roll-back to a Restore Point about six weeks old, but that didn't solve the problem. This suggests to me that the problem is phone-resident, since the rollback was to a computer-based Restore Point and I don't have phone rollback capability.
This seriously hampers me. PC Suite, OVI, and some future version of Nokia Suite, will all be useless to me unless Nokia accomplishes the stunning act of supporting their software. I won't hold my breath. Just in general, you'd think that plug-and-play of a phone into your computer would be a lot simpler. Just take the cord -- stick it in the phone; stick it in the computer -- and shazam, you're plugged in. But NOOOOOO we're on NOOOOOOKIA ... Now I know why Microsoft wanted to buy them so badly. They knew they'd all get along and have the same assumptions about software -- that it doesn't really matter whether it works reliably on a user's computer at his home, as long as it works in theory on some programmer's ideal personal computer in Seattle once in a rare while. Nokia? Meet Microsoft. Microsoft? You and Nokia will get along juuuust fiiiine ...

  • N96 & PC Suite & Ovi Suite connectivity - USB

    Hi
Forgive me if this has already been covered.  I've searched the forums and have not found a definitive answer.
    Win XP Pro SP 3
Micro USB cable supplied with N96, standard USB cable for N95
    N96 Type RM-247
    Software version 20.050
    N95 (01.01) RM-159
    V 31.0.017
    PC Suite 7.1.26.1
    Ovi suite
I have an N95 and two N96's.  Both N96's have been updated to the above software using PC Suite.  After the update, neither N96 is recognised by PC suite.  N95 is happily recognised.  I've installed Ovi in desperation and it opens knowing that I have an N95 but will not connect to either N95 or N96
The N96's connect as unknown USB devices.  In Device Manager I have 5 USB 2.0 devices with Yellow question marks.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PC suite 5x.  I have also uninstalled the cable drivers and PC Connectivity.
Also, connecting the N96 to the USB cable will sometimes result in BSOD - a driver conflict.  Has anyone any ideas how I can get the N96's recognised?  The software update seems to have caused the problem.
    Thanks

I uninstalled again last night, used CC Cleaner to clear all traces, checked DM - only the N95 is listed and then reinstalled PC S 7.  The instant I connected an N96 to the USB cable, I got a BSOD and a driver error notification.  Went to bed after that......

  • E72 / Win7 64-bit Ovi Suite - MTP USB device drive...

Just installed Ovi Suite (most recent version) on Windows 7 64-bit for my E72.
Windows installs all drivers, however 'MTP USB device ' driver fails to install.
What does this driver do ? And can this be solved ?

    I am running OVI 2.2.0.245 on 64 bit W7 and Office 2007 and using a 5800ExpreMusic..
I have experienced all the problems mentioned above. After 2 days of try and error end nearly getting crazy I found a solution at least for my situation. However I can imagine many more people are maybe in the same situation.
At first I had been using the USB ports in front of the machine's cabinet. None of them worked for a longer period than 3 minutes and I always lost the connection to the mapserver. Until I found out that each two ports in front of the cabinet share the capacity of a single USB connection at the back of the system. So I moved the USB from one of the front ports the a back port. Now that the full Capacity of a USB port can be used I no longer suffer any problems with OVI.
    It works great.
However it is a shame Nokia users must find out what Nokia could have told its users.

  • Connecting N95 to ovi suite using usb cable

I have just upgraded to windows 7. I installed pc suite and ovi suite just like i had before on windows XP. However when i try connecting using ovi suite and choosing the option of pc suite on the phone when connecting the usb cable i keep, ovi gives me the message "Please wait while USB drivers are installed on your computer" and stays in this state like for ever. I didn't have this problem before when using windows XP. Please help me

I've had similar problems, but wait for the drivers to install, also sometimes my phone won't connect straight away, pulling the usb cable out of the phone and pushing it back in again quite quickly usually gets the connection to work ok !

Or you can also change the mode from the Weblogic console > click on the domain after logging in and then goto General Tab and uncheck the Production Mode checkbox and restart your weblogic.
Once your server is started in Dev mode, your deployed applications like SOA should also be in Dev mode.
    Cheers

  • How to change a dialog box to its ' full-screen' mode ?

There is a dialog box in an application I am writting currently using swing.
The question is, how can I change it to ' full screen ' mode and switch it back to its normal mode ?

To that purpose, you might make use of myDialog.setSize(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize());Hope this helps even though it is not 'true' full-screen. As far as I know, it's as close as you'll get.

  • How to change a users login password via single user mode, plus multiple issues?

So, there is much to this Thread.
    (First Issue)
A lil back ground, i'm working on a MacBook Pro 3,1 running OS X Tiger 10.4.(something, no idea), the The user has forgotten their account password. Now before you tell me to just change it through the Root Admin account, that account seems to have its own issues, the accounts do not show up in the system preferences, therefore not allowing me to change that users account password.
    (Second Issue)
Once I'm able to login into the users account, is there any way to disable / erase / eradicate the key chain system?
    (Third Issue)
All of a sudden the MacBook has lost all audio capability, both in the built in speakers and through the headphone jack.
i'm open to any ideas, its currently 10:14am the user is wanting this to be done by 2:45pm please help i'm desperate and i don't want to be defeated by a Mac

It's possible some of these things are related. I'd first do a basic verification of the computer's system.
First, if at all possible make a backup of the drive in its present configuration. If something goes wrong during repair attempts and makes things worse you will have a backup. You will have to decide how to work this in the light of any present backups you may have, for example, a backup that may be a few days out of date. In that case you may want to keep that one and make a second backup of this as they are now, though I realize people often don't have a lot of empty drives sitting around.
Boot from the System installer disc that came with your computer or is the one for the version you currently have on there, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
From BDaqua (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
