How to change photo into a pastel illustration in PSE 11

Hi from a newbie.  I am trying to find a nice effect which will create pastel illustrations from my photos. I think it is done in PS by turning the photo into black and white first then using Oil Paint filter to work towards the soft effect I am after.  I can't find a way to get this effect in my PSE 11, does anyone have any ideas to help. Many thanks.

Try this:
Open picture file
CTRL+J to copy
CTRL+SHIFT+U to remove color
CTRL+J to copy b/w layer, then CTR+I to invert
Change Blending mode of inverted layer to color dodge
Go to Filter>Other>Minimum ---4px
Go back to original layer with color, CTRL+J to copy
Drag that layer to the top of the stack of layers in the layers palette, and reduce layer opacity
Merge the top 3 layers so you're left with 2 layers
CTRL+J to copy the top layer
Go to Filter>Artistic Poster Edges. Play with the sliders and reduce the layer opacity to suit

What and how an email is seen on the other person's machine is dependent on their settings and not what you do. You can, for instance, send a HTML email, but if they haven't set their machine to deal with those, it won't work. It's all down to them.

How to change it into Yes or No Button?
    Thank you.

I don't think you can change those buttons. However you may try use some rich Javascript library like YUI (Yahoo! User Interface) to pop up custom alert and confirm boxes.

  • How to import photos into LR 2.6 from Elements 8

When I used Photoshop elements 6 I was able to import into LR 2.6  from elements catalog. How can I do this with Elements 8. The option doesn't come up in files menu.

When I used Photoshop elements 6 I was able to import into LR 2.6  from elements catalog.
I think you mean you were able to *convert* a PSE6 catalog to a Lightroom catalog. This isn't possible with Lightroom 2.6 and PSE8 catalogs, but you can *import* your photos from PSE8 into Lightroom, although you will lose some PSE catalog information. First, use psedbtool to write the metadata from the PSE8 catalog to the photo files themselves; then import the photos into Lightroom.

  • How to import Photos into Active Directory

    Hi -
IT Director asked me to import employees pictures into Active Directory so that we can use them in Outlook, SharePoint, Lync etc.
Do you know how to import pictures into Active Directory?

Thumbnailphoto Attribute in active directory is responsible for adding photos to Active directory.
By Default Replication of this attribute will be disabled to Global catalog server. To make use of this facility we will have to enable replication of this attribute to Global Catalog. ( To accomplish this you will have to edit the schema using Active directory
    schema snap in).
Refer Below link which explains about enabling the replication of Thumbnailphoto attribute to Global catalog.
    http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/management-administration/configuring-using-display-picture-exchange-server-2010.html
    Requirements
Minimum requirement for your exchange enviornment to use this - Exchange 2010.
Exchange 2007 Don't support uploading photos AFAIK.
Domain controller should be running with atleast windows server 2008 or later. And
schema has to be windows server 2008
    Additionally for your information,
How to remove the uploaded photos?
Either You can edit the Thumbnailphoto attribute using ADSIedit and remove the entry which is assocaited with Thumbnailphoto attribute.
    Or,
    Try this.
The Import-RecipientDataProperty and Export-RecipientDataProperty cmdlets allow you to import and export the photo blob to and from
thumbnailPhoto attribute, but there's no Remove-RecipientDataProperty cmdlet to remove it. You can use the
RemovePicture switch of Set-Mailbox cmdlet to remove a user's photo. For example:
    Set-Mailbox "Bharat Suneja" -RemovePicture

  • How to import photos into new Photos beta app

I am trying to figure out how to import photos from an auxiliary (i.e., not my main)  iPhoto library into the new beta Photos app. Has anyone been able to do this?  Thanks.

You can't import a one library into another library with either Photos or iPhoto.  You could with iPhoto if the library to be imported was created by iPhoto 6 or earlier and still had a normal folder for the library.  Since iPhoto 7 libraries became packages and  can't be imported into another library.

  • How to get photos into computer

Can someone please tell me how to put photos I've taken with my iPhone, and put those photos into my PC? I've looked everywhere and I find info only on how to do the opposite of what I want to do.
    Thanks guys...
    Karen

Hi there. I'm the developer of one app that may be able to help you getting your iPhone photos to your computer if you continue having problems with Windows. The app is called 'Photo Transfer App' and it allows you to transfer photos from iPhone to computer over your wifi network. Here is the link to the app's website where you can see how it works and get more details about it: http://www.phototransferapp.com/
I hope it will be useful to you if you can't get your photos off the iPhone with the USB cable.
    Cheers!

  • How to get photos into Quick Collection?

    I just installed
Lightroom 3 and I have lost
my circle to put photos into Quick Collection. " Set Quick Collection as Target" is grayed out, but no other collection has a white + indicating that it has been designated as a Target Collection. What can I do to restore my circle for Quick  collection? Thanks for your help.

I don't have my LR3 test laptop in front of me, but since your preferences are probably started from scratch when you loaded LR3, right-click one of the images in the grid and select "view options".  Under the "Cell Icons" options there is a box that should be checked called "Quick Collection Markers".  See if that works.
You might have other options like this that you selected in LR2 that didn't make it over to LR3 automatically.

  • How to transfer photo into expansion drive

Can anybody tell me how to download / transfer photo from iphoto into external hard drive

Copy the /Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library file to the external drive. Hold down the OPTION key while double-clicking on the iPhoto application. You will be prompted to select a library. Select the iPhoto Library file on the external drive. iPhoto will now use this library. You can then remove the one in your Pictures folder or keep it as a backup of the library at the time you changed its location.

  • How to import photos into LR4 that LR states have already been imported.

LR4 in import mode shows photo files that it has labeled with a leading "_" in a muted format and states they have already been imported and will not allow importing. I have been unable to locate them by file name or date in LR or using file searches. How can I find and/or import them? Do I have to rename all the files by deleting the leading _ in the file name?
    Thanks

Duplicate file detection is based on more than just file name. Duplicate file names are allowed in your catalog. You can try turning off the "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" (under the File Handling roll-out on the right panel of the Import dialog window) and see what that does for you. As to finding the files that these are (potentially) duplicates of, it's hard to say. Name and date are some of the easier ways of doing it. What folder it got imported into may be another. If you've been using keywords and/or Collections, this may help as well.

  • How to get photos into photo stream?

How do you get photos from your iPhone camera roll into photo stream?

OK, after a bit of Googling I managed to get my photos from the iPhone to my PC without iTunes or a desktop app. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-pictures/i-cannot -download-pictures-from-my-iphone-to-my-pc/94f5c656-c1d9-48e6-9b6f-796ae048b75e
When I plug my iPhone into the PC as well as iTunes coming up the Windows AutoPlay popup appears. If I choose Open device to view files in Windows Explorer, I can then see the folder containing the photos and copy them to my PC. This worked fine for me, although from Google others have had problems.
I suppose I could now put these back into the Photo Stream on my iPhone via iCloud by putting them into the Photo Stream/Uploads folder on the PC.

  • How to change photo size settings on cell phones and tablets

I've worked in graphic design for many years, but I just encountered a new situation for me.
In the past, whenever I got photos from a digital camera or even a cell phone, the default pixel settings were more than sufficient to work with. For example, the default pixel settings on my digital camera are 4608x3456.
But in this situation, I'm getting photos from technicians who know nothing of computer graphics. I need to crop their photos to 640x480. But some of them are coming in smaller than that (one is 234x420).
I believe they are taking these photos with their cell phones or their tablets (but they could be using different brands).
So I've been asked to instruct them in how to take their photos so they come out big enough for us to crop to the appropriate size.
But I always thought that the defaults for all devices that take photos are pretty huge, like my own digital camera. I don't understand why any would come in so small, unless the techs tried to edit the photo themselves before sending it to us.
So is there a way to change the photo settings on smart phones and tablets? If so, is it pretty similar for different brands, or will I have to research and give instructions for every brand they have?
Or, do you agree that they might be trying to edit their photos themselves before sending them?
