How to change startup volume

This might be a silly question, but how can you change the volume of the signature start up sound on the new iMac?

The startup sound uses the volume setting of the built-in speakers. So if you do not have external speakers connected, adjust the volume of the built-in speakers and that will change the volume of the startup sound.
If you have external speakers connected, Mac OS X maintains separate sound volume settings for the built-in speakers and "headphones" (used by the external speakers). So you can disconnect the external speakers, adjust the sound volume of the built-in speakers, and reconnect the external speakers. The external speakers will still use its own sound volume. However, the startup sound always comes from the built-in speakers, so that separate volume setting will be used.

  • Boot failure on G5 - how to change startup?

I added a new drive to dual processor powerpc g5 running os10.5.6. It worked fine.
I changed the startup to old disk, OS 10.5 boot disk and back to new disk 6-8 times and no problem.
Last night I changed startup to old disk, rebooted and no go.
I get a gray screen (no apple logo), then a blue/green screen (my background color) and there it stalls.
I've tried rebooting with the OS boot disk but it doesn't override startup preference.
Tried the option key after the reboot fanfare, also tried it as soon as reboot stops. Neither work.
I tried doing all of the above after machine had been shut down overnight.
    Still doesn't work.
    What now?

First, thanks for your help. Whatever the outcome. Now on to the specifics:
Didn't work -- Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup).
Didn't work -- Command+Shift+Option+Delete  bypasses the disk selected in the Startup Disk control panel in  favor of an external device or from CD-ROM.
I don't have an bootable disk/external device, but I do have the OSX/Leopard boot disk in the superdrive.
Didn't work -- Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
I did go to the provided URL and went through the steps a couple of times.
But I'm thinking the reset would set the startup to the original HD, which is the one I'm having trouble with.
Is it a Wireless or USB Keyboard? It's a USB Keyboard with a wireless mouse.
Would this work? Turn it all off, remove the original HD, and Would I need to put the second/new HD in its place? Or just remove the original and would the boot up process automatically roll over to the new HD? Or just hang in its everlasting search for the old HD?
I had backed up everything from it except some movie clips, including some of my husband before he got sick. I'd really just like to get those clips off and the rest of it can all go to Jupiter.

  • How to Change the Volume Changing Sound

How can I change the volume changing sound? I don't want to turn the sound off but I dislike the sound it makes when the volume changes currently.

    Yea, that reason sounds silly.
There are always 1001 reasons why it isnt being done because someone just doesnt WANT to do it.
It only sounds silly to you because you don't really understand the reasoning - obviously. Back in the days of CEP, this software did have a direct link to whatever mixer was being used - almost invariably the internal Windows one. And it was removed. A lot of sound devices simply don't provide links into their mixer panels any more - you run them standalone. On top of that, sound devices these days don't always use the same driver system, and also a lot of devices access Audition by external linking software, like ASIO4ALL. All of these things combined make it not as simple as you seem to think to implement something like this.
So it's not a case of no-one wanting to do it - it was actively removed, because strictly speaking it's not something that Audition should be legitimately addressing. Audition is an editor, and multitrack system, not a machinery controller. That's why its internal mixer is a purely virtual device, and has no direct influence on any of the hardware, except to determine the available inputs or outputs that it addresses.
So typically with the devices I use, if I want to control the physical attributes of them I leave their control panels open, almost invariably on a second monitor. And that is entirely sufficient.

  • How to change startup disk for a 2012 Mac mini with dual HDD and clean installed with Windows 8.1?

    Hi,
I have a Mac-mini (late 2012 model), originally with Mac OS X Maverick Server installed (with two HDD). Recently, I had clean installed Windows 8.1 on one of the HDD (worked perfectly, just slow) and swapped the other HDD (with Mac OSX) with a SSD. I then cloned the Windows OS HDD in to the new SSD. Now I am trying to boot this Mac mini from this SSD, however, since this Mac mini do not have BIOS for me to change the boot sequence at the startup, is there any one can help?
    Thank you,
    Liusc

If you boot with the Option key depressed what boot options are shown?
    Also:
    Restart your computer
After Windows is installed, you can switch between OS X and Windows. Use the Startup Disk preference pane in OS X, or the Boot Camp system tray item in Windows to select your startup disk, then restart your computer

  • Change Startup Volume

I have 2 volumes on my HD. Startup boots into Volume 2 if I don't use Startup Manager. I want it to boot into Volume 1, not 2.
    How do I do this?

Holding down the Option key with the power button brings up the Startup Manager & then you choose which volume you want to use. If you don't use the Option key, the startup defaults to, in my case, volume 2. I'm looking to get it to default to volume 1 (without the Option key), then if I want to work with volume 2, I use the Option key.

  • How to change startup programs

Every time i start excell opens up how do i change this?

Two possible reasons come to mind:
    1.  When you shut down, you may have "Reopen windows when logging back in" checked.  That would do it.
    2.  Check System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items

  • Setting/changing startup volume in NV or PRAM

I know there are some 3rd party apps to change/modify the NV-RAM and PRAM but I recall that there was a simple command to modify the contents of the bootram to change the level of the volume.
Problem is simple - the initial volume is much to high for me. I have to remember to reduce it before accessing anything that uses the sound system, since the sound is so loud. I think this happened since Snow Leopard, but am not sure.
Any help would be great, tnx.

    The command given is

I presume the 80 is the level based on 0 to 100. I shall find out soon enough.
I further presume that a PRAM reset will fix any errors I might make.

Here is what just happened when attempting to set it

nvram: Error setting variable - 'SystemAudioVolume': (iokit/common) general error
Perhaps the % is the issue?
    Close, but no cigar
I have asked this question again in the Audio forum. Not a crosspost, just a differently phrased question.

  • C3 - How to change startup profile?

My C3 phone has suddently taken to starting up with the Silent profile selected. This is a pain because I keep missing calls but cannot find a way to make the general profile the default.
    Does anyone know the solution?
I'm sure it must be something easy but I can't find it in the manual. :-(
    Alan G.

Select Menu > Settings > Profiles.
Select the desired profile and from the
    following:
    Activate — Activate the profile.
    Personalise — Modify the profile
    settings.
Timed — Set the profile to be active until
a certain time. When the time set for the
profile expires, the previous profile that
    was not timed becomes active.

  • Media key volume control stepper, how to change?

So I just started using kdemod, and I got my multimedia keys working but I'm wondering how to change the volume stepper? Right now it changes the volume by 10% for every step made by my media volume control keys. I would like to have it set to something more sane like 2-3%. Anybody know what I'm talking about or can offer some help? Thanks.

    Hi,
"Default value" tab is in Work center. Check for the same in CR02 (Workcenter change view)
In CA02, in Operations Overview, you can change the control key in the routing.
      Hope this is clear now..

  • How to change default startup OS.

How do you change the default startup OS from WinXP to OSX and vice versa?

Alternative to using Startup Disk is to use OPTION booting. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Click on the icon for the desired startup disk, then click on the down arrow button beneath it. Unlike using Startup Disk this method is a temporary switch. The next time you restart the computer will startup from the original startup volume.

Check, if you have a volume automation set on the software instrument track.
If the track volume automation curve is enabled, the volume slider for the track will move with the automation curve.
Click the automation curves disclosure triangle in the track header and disable the volume automation.

Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement.  They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device.  Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now.  They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.
