How to change the name of the Mac I connect to in the drop-down window.
Using my brand new MacBook, in the drop down menu when I connect to my iMac, it shows up as my name ( which is Derek Walton's Computer) ...... How can I change the name that shows up here? I have tried all areas that iI can think of and altered my name on the iMac but to no avail - e.g. - Network Sharing, Account Name, and so on.... anything anywhere I have changed... but it always shows up with my full name. I have however managed to get the name in the sidebar of the Leopard window to read as I want ( Derek's iMac) but that is all.
Also, when I am using Airport on my MacBook, in the drop-down menu I see also other neighbours connections.... I am wondering therefore does it follow that they can see my wireless connection ( as Derel Waltons Computer)?
This has been vexing me all night and I am geting very frustrated, but I bet there is a simple answer..... for those that know!

Thanks for replying again. I've got a little bit further thanks to you. I tried the US keyboard layout as you seemed pretty definte that it should work. This time I applied the setting and also started the language toolbar and selected it from there.
Hey presto, I've got the @ where it should be. Excellent.
However the single quote ' works in a weird way. When I press it, it doesn't show up on the screen. But when I press another key, I get the single quote plus the next key I press. When I press the single quote twice, I get 2 of them. This is also the same with the SHIFT ' key. i.e. for the double quotes.
Very strange. I'll look at other keyboards and see where that gets me.

Above can be used in plsql stored procedure before submitting Concurrent Program (Bi Publisher report) or may be you can try to add this code in Oracle reports after report or before report trigger

Your Photoshop CC can be installed on a Mac or PC. Just install the Mac CC Desktop app and install Photoshop CC from there. It will be in your Application folder.

Move the entire iTunes folder to: Macintosh HD > Users > Shared.
Hold the option key when launching iTunes (for each user).
Click Choose Library.
Navigate to Macintosh HD > Users > Shared > iTunes.

Graphic card problem maybe? Since when I have changed the hard drive to my macbook pro and I installed all the new softwares, my mac is very slow and the screen gives crazy pictures,could maybe be the graphic card, does anybody have experienced this?
after a restart it works for a time, but always slow. I went to the Applestore this afternoon and the made a check and said it would be the logicboard and they would have to change it for CHF 600 and it would be ready in 10 - 15 days

Hi, my trial version of Lightroom 5 has recently expired and I have now fully bought it. I have uploaded the CD onto my Mac, but when I open the Lightroom application again, it still says the trial has expired. Does anybody know how I can update it so I can finally use it again? Joanne please remove your current installation of Photoshop Lightroom using the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
You will then want to download Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1 from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh. The update contains the entire application. Photoshop Lightroom can not be installed through the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application and still be licensed with a serial number. -
I have read the HT4627 but I think my original question is more specific Our new iphone5 id name is the same as an existing still in use iphone4 in the family; if I remove the devise; change its name can I then immediately associate it with the correct name.
You can change the name of a device on it via Settings > General > About > Name - you shouldn't need to remove the association and then reassociate it.

If possible, connect to your router with Ethernet and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

then click on the Landscape and update the new host name.

How to change "Full Name" in iCloud IMAP mail account information
Brand new to this forum so please excuse any newbieisms. I am running OS X 10.7.5 I created an iCloud IMAP mail account so that I can sync with my iPhone.
Windows Live is my original mail account. All is good except the "Full Name" in "Accounts" preferernces is somehow incorrect. When I send mail frm my Mac, this incorrect name shows in the "From" field. Mail sent from my iPhone shows my correct name as it appears in my phone cloud settings. The name doesn't sync in iCloud. All other syncing is good. When I try to change it manually in my Mac mail preferences, I get the message "the"Incoming Mail Server" field can not be empty" when I try to save the changes. The aforementioned field is not empty and is in fact greyed out as this was self populated upon creation of the account. I can't even change the case sensitivity of the name or I get the message. As a stop gap I have created an alias to send mail with, but would like a proper fix. Any ideas?If you created a new iCloud account it would have a new associated iCloud email account. You wouldn't be able to move your current @icloud.com address to the new account.
Just to double-check, after quitting (Command-Q) and re-opening Mail, did you start an new message and click the down-arrow next to From to see if the new sender name was available from the drop-down list (see image below)? If so, you might try signing out of iCloud entirely. To do this, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in and test Mail again. (This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud. Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.) -

For Some reason my name in my iCloud account is not correct. When i sent an email with my iCloud
Emailaddress my name as sender is not correct. I assume thuis changed when i had to fill in my husbands name with the creditcard info.
How Can i change this in my correct name? Apple id is ok.

It may well be that it is somehow related to your credit card, I have seen this mentioned before in these communities. However the name associated with my email address, comes from the name as entered at my Apple ID.

Why do the screens on my Mac Book fly off to the side? Scrolling and clicking on open programs bring back the screens BUT I don't want them to disappear in the first place. Help?
Just realized this is occuring on an older Mac with 10.6.8 system, so no Mission Control. But I did change hot corner settings to do nothing and we'll see how that goes.

I am a new Indesign user and a Creative Cloud member. I was using the Window/Pages drop down window to view my pages alphabetically or by page number and also to determine whether or not my JPEG files were sufficiently HI-Res for the printer. I don't know how I did it but somehow the window has changed so that now it does not have the alphabetical/numerical/Hi-Res information. It just shows the pages in a two page spread in numerical order. How can I restore the window so that I will be able to view the information as I did previously.

[Personal Information Removed]The pages panel is not the place where you see this information. You can customize the Links panel to show all sorts of things, including the page number, effective and actual ppi, and whether the link is OK or needs updating.
