How to change timeline to 24fps as well as exporting to DVtape?

Hey Folks,
Here's my situation I shot a short film on 16mm and I got the stock processed to DV tape so I can edit it in FCP. I did all my edits, all went well and I realized my timeline is @ 29fps, so I went into the Sequence Settings and I tried to change it from 29fps to 23.98fps (I believe thats' the right format for 24fps) and when I pressed OK it said something the settings did not save you need to edit the timeline settings or something like that.
So can someone please give me a hand with that issue?
And Finally - I am wondering how to export the clip back to DVtape as I need to submit that format to the film festival.

Here is something I found by doing a Google for "converting 29fps to 23.98fps".
You are in a really, really, really tight spot because there is no way
to automatically remove the pulldown from a completed 29.97 project and
turn it into a 23.98 project. The only way to do edit in native 24P (in
FCP) assumes several things:
A. The footage was recorded with in the Advanced Pulldown (by default,
this is scene F6 on the camera)
B. The footage was digitized using the "24p with Advanced Pulldown
Removal" preset in FCP.
C. The footage was edited on a 23.98Fps timeline in FCP.
If any of these conditions are not met, you must
ManuallyRemove_The_Pulldown_From_Each_ClipIndividually using the
Cinema Tools application that comes bundled with FCP.
But, all is not lost. 24p finishing is really only necessary for print
back to film, making native 24p DVD's, and native 24p video clips for
the web. Your film is perfectly fine without a 24p edit.
If you absolutely must have a 24p version for any other the above
reasons, I am afraid you'll need to re-edit your entire movie. Sorry.
*There may be a way to use the EDL features of FCP to rebuild the
project after capturing the footage properly, but this is something I
have never experimented with.*
Another option is to bring the completed edit into Sony Vegas, which
has superb support for 24p. Unlike FCP, Vegas CAN export a "native 24p"
version from any type of pulldown in a 29.97 clip.
If I were you, I would explore the Vegas option instead of re-cutting
in FCP, at this point.

There is a workaround to move from 1.5 version to the older 1.4 version. But this could be specific to the browser setting the JRE version.

However, a user can still run older versions. To do so, launch the Java Plug-in Control Panel for the older version, then (re)select the browser in the Browser tab.

Assume you are running on Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Internet Explorer, have first installed version 1.4.2, then version 5.0, and you want to run 1.4.2.
Go to the j2re1.4.2\bin directory where JRE 1.4.2 was installed. On a Windows default installation, this would be here: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin
Double-click the jpicpl32.exe file located there. It will launch the control panel for 1.4.2.
Select the Browser tab. Microsoft Internet Explorer might still appear to be set (checked). However, when 5.0 was installed, the registration of the 1.4.2 JRE with Internet Explorer was overwritten by the 5.0 JRE.
If Microsoft Internet Explorer is shown as checked, uncheck it and click Apply. You will see a confirmation dialog stating that browser settings have changed.
Check Microsoft Internet Explorer and click Apply. You should see a confirmation dialog.
Restart the browser. It should now use the 1.4.2 JRE for conventional APPLET tags.

My system (Windows XP) has the version 1.5_09 set as the default. However i just installed JRE 1.5_06 and would like to revert back to _06 as the default JRE..

How can I automatically change my edited timeline from 24fps into 25fps?

Hello everyone,
I have a timeline in 24fps with 24fps footage. I have to convert it (the timeline and the footage) into 25fps, so I can put a 25fps Timecode in it (it was a 24fps 16mm film material and it has to be rescan in 25fps...). Is there a way to do that? I mean beside of reedit everything in a 25fps timeline. The footage was quicktime prores 4444, I made merged clips of it and edited it then, so I have only merged clips on the timeline.
I would be very thankful for any suggestions!

Hi Richard, unfortunately I need to burn in Timecode from the source clips, so this won`t help me:/ but thanks for your answer! I think the only possibility for me is to create a new timeline in 25fps, modify the source footage from 24 into 25fps and reedit it. Is there any way to use command match frame (and reversed match frame) from merged clips in a timeline to source material from which I created the merged clips? so the source footage and not the used merged clip will be loaded into the source monitor? it would make a reedit much much faster...

How to change the color of SOLIDS ?

Hi there,
In the Effects panel, I select the color solids, we only have green and a few colors. I chose the green one as the background.
Then I wanna choose my own color by changing the color of the green but my eyes are blind, I cannot find where the selection are ?
Can anyone be kind enuf to let me know where the switch is ? How to change the color of the solids to be used as background ?

Hi.
I know how to change the duration of one still, but changing the duration of many seems elusive. I've gone to the Help menu and typed "Duration." That points me to the menu where I would change the duration of one still.

For items already in the timeline, Select the each item in the timeline, right click and select "change speed" from the popup menu. You can not change the duration of a group of slides, only one at a time.
To change images that are already imported but not in the timeline, there are two ways to go - the brute force method and the item by item method.
Brute Force: Delete the stills from the Browser, change the duration of still setting in User Preferences>Editing to what you want, then reimport the stills. They will come in with the new duration. Changing the User Preference setting only affects stills imported after the change, it has no effect on material already in the Browser.
Item By Item: Go to the still in the Browser and change the duration for it. Right click on the time and copy it. Select the next still image time, paste the new time in, rinse and repeat. If you have a lot of stills and they are well organized (ie all in the same folder), the brute force is probably faster.

25fps timeline in 24fps convertion

I have a 25fps timeline with 25 fps footage. I need to export this timeline in 24fps, so I chaged the sequence settings from 25fps to 24 fps. Now I have to interpret the footage from 25 to 24, when I do this, the footage on the timeline changes , but the edit points don`t, which means I have to make every clip on the timeline a little bit longer, which of course takes much time and I also have some subtitles (as titles) in the timeline and I`m not sure how to do it, so they will move with the video footage to the new location on the timeline after interprating to 24fps...

Sorry but I don't know correctly, but I suposs if you work in a sequence 24@25 it's possible allow this operation... if you need a sequences 24fps to export a 25 videotape you need make a quicktime movie, and then open it in after effects and change the main properties... I hope to help you.

we have 10gAsR1 installed as a Portal instance. We have 6-server
load balancer => webcache as loadbalancer (listening port 80)
Wb ch1 and wb ch2 => webcache (listening port 7777)
portal1 and portal2 => Portal listening 7778
infra =>Infrastruture with repository Portal/Oracle SSO (listening 7777)
This set up is working fine for our intranet setup, now we need to open this for couple of external clients. Well initially we need to open on the load balancer server on port 80 for external team to access, it works fine when we make it publc access.
Now when we need to make it SSO (siteminder) enables, when users click on login link it first goes oracle sso then it internally redirects the page to site minder sso.
Well, I have noted that the sso server details are mentioned in global setting sso/oid details. Since we need to open this for external client we have to add a DNS entry for this so that we can allow its access over firewall..
Now I have made DNS name change at my infrserver level, now I need to update the change at the load balancer server (where wheb chache is running).
Any one know how to chang the URL at load balancer.
I am struck at this point please suggest how should i proceed..

Okay. In the interests of being completely clear:
I have already tried this. Several times. This procedure will change the default for any of the fields that I place by hand. It does not change the default for any of the fields placed by the Wizard. I was unable to find a solution to the problem in any of the manuals, books, or on-line forums, which is why I posted here as a last resort. This leads to two conclusions:
A. Your advice is incorrect
B. There is a problem with my installation of Acrobat
I will assume that A is not the correct conclusion. I will therefore try a re-install of my software to see if this clears up the problem. There have been other issues with other Adobe software on my machine that a re-installed has fixed nicely. Luckily, I don't have to do this at all often.

How to change default texts in OSX dialogue windows?

I'd like to change some of the texts that appear in the OSX dialogue boxes.
One example: I have set my Mac up to ask for the password after N minutes of sleep. I would like to change the text in the box/window that appears when the Mac is woken up and where you are told to submit your ID and password (I'm sorry that I am not sure what exactly it says in English because I'm using another language).
The closest thing to what I need I have come across is this:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow LoginwindowText 'Hands off'
However, this applies only to the first login window you see after you have started the computer. I'd like to change other default texts as well.
The default texts in different languages must be stored somewhere. How do I find them and how do I chage them? Any advice would be appreciated.

When I deploy the form then check the task URI in EM I see
Host name: server host name
HTTP port: 80
HTTPS port: 443
I know I can override these ports in the hwtaskflow but what if I want HTTPS port left blank? We don't have HTTPS active on our server. Another server in our environment only populates the HTTP port (HTTPS port is left blank) but I'm puzzled why the different behavior.
Can anyone tell me either how to specify a "blank" HTTPS port in the hwtaskflow or, preferably, how to change the server configuration so that HTTPS port is not filled in when I deploy the task form? We are wanting a completely automated deployment and presently we have to manually remove the HTTPS port via EM after deploying. Argh!

May be you already figured out the solution nevertheless i will answer your questions.
1. Turning off the https port - give value as 0 for httpsPort in your hwtaskflow.xml.
Second reason why your custom hwtaskflow is not getting picked up is you have set the TaskFlowDeploy as false.
If you set this as true , and specify your cluster address you should be all set.
for eg : - your cluster host address is somename.cluster.com with only http configured at port 80 lets assume.
Then your hwtaskflow should look like this

How to change keyboard shortcut for cycle through open tabs in PS and AI CC 2014

I would love to set my own keyboard shortcuts for cycling through open tabs in PS and AI 2014 on OS X. I found out that this can be achieved with ctrl+tab in PS, but I couldn't manage to make any of the suggestions in the forum work for AI. As said, I would like to set a more "standard" shortcut like alt+cmd+arrow-keys for both of the apps. If that shouldn't be possible, does anyone know a shortcut in AI CC 2014?

Thanks! The shortcut can be set like this in AI, although all key combinations I would want to use are not allowed. Too bad. But anyways, thank you very much for the tip!
cmd+~ is not an option for me, I guess, since the swiss/german keyboard layout has no dedicated tilde key.
So, I have a working shortcut in PS (ctrl+tab / of which I still don't know how to change, if possible at all) and thanks to you, I can now set one in AI as well. Unfortunately, I can not set it to be identical as in PS, since the "cmd" key needs to be included in AI's shortcut assignment dialogue, but I guess, this is as good as it gets.

Apple ID's are not device specific, so when you changed it on the iPad 2 it changed it on the iPhone 4 as well, since it's the same account still. What you need to do is create a second Apple ID (so you'll have two accounts, one for iPhone 4 and a seperate one for iPad 2).
To create a new Apple ID on your iPad 2:
1) Go into Settings > Store.
2) If you are already signed in, tap your Apple ID on the screen and you will be given a few options, one of which is to sign out of your account.
3) After you sign out, now click the "Sign in" button.
4) Tap "Create New Apple ID" and follow the instructions on-screen.

OK figured it out. This is for the next person seeking the same solution.
When you click on the Java Control Panel (found in the Control panel) in any version of Windows, it first looks for a System Wide Java Configuration (found here: C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment). At this point you must be wondering why you don't have this folder (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) or why its empty. Well, for an enterprise environment, you have to create it and place something in it - it doesn't exist by default. So you'll need a script (I used Autoit) to create the directory structure and place the the two files into it. The two files are "deployment.properties" and "deployment.config".
Example: When you click on the Java Control Panel it first checks to see if this directory exists (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) and then checks if there is a "deployment.config". If there is one it opens it and reads it. If it doesn't exist, Java creates user settings found here C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7.
