i need a free program that can convert my windows media movies to work for the ipod or itunes

hey guys the same is happening to me. i bought my ipod 6 days ago, and i´ve tried to transfer videos from digital cameras (sony, canon and nicon) in mpeg format and I cant play them with audio.
What I do is just turn them to Ipod format, then the video is converted and the audio disapears. It´s not a problem of the ipod since I can´t hear the audio also in the software, where i converted them.
Please help me, I just wanna see and hear my videos.

For junky old browsers that can't see any HTML5 (which the <video> and <audio> tags are), they get a text message to get something better and a link to go there.

How can the Windows Media Player 12 be made to play WVC210 .avi files?

I just built a new computer and it won't play the motion captured videos of the WVC210. It has Windows 7 Home Premium as the operating system. My machines running XP play the WVC210 files GREAT. Is there a codec I can add to the WMP12 so that it will play the .avi files. I have 3 cameras around the property, 2 WVC210 and 1 WVC200. 1 camera has the audio turned off so switching to MP4 (no audio) made that work OK. But the camera in the office I need to have audio and would rather stick to WMP over something like VLC. VLC plays the files fine but I much prefer WMP. I'm hopeing to find out how to have Windows Media Player 12 play the .AVI files from the WVC210 cameras. Any Help??

There appears to be issues with codecs on WMP 12 and Windows 7
AND\OR your WMP is missing the necessary codecs.
Google the Net and you should find different things to try

Opening Windows Media videos in Safari

When clicking on windows media video file, the video will open, but also goes to a blank browser page -- being new to Safari -- can this be changed for PC (and Macs)?
I would like to have just the windows media application open to see the video, while still being on the same browser page I was at and not having to use the Back arrow button to return to the previous page.

You cannot use the WMP plug-in on an Intel Mac. To make it work you have to force Safari to run via Rosetta. Select Safari then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Check the box labeled "Open in Rosetta."

Windows Media Player Never Works

Hey folks -
Looking for WMP help. I've downloaded it, trashed the three preferences I've read about here, and it still won't work. For some reason, it plays Windows Media files I have on a CD I made a year or two ago on my old PC, but it will not play embedded videos (i.e. CNN, IGN) NOR will it play these Windows Media videos if I download them. I'm at my wits end here.
I even tried using VLC, but that simply gives me a codec error. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone know someone I can contact at Mac or Microsoft for some tech support?

I hate to give you such a useless answer, but WMP works fine on all three of the Macs in my house. Embedded videos show up in Safari or in a separate WMP window (depending on how the website is configured), and it's played every .wmv file I've thrown at it. I guess my point is, don't give up, because theoretically it should work.
You might also want to take a look at VLC. It can play most Windows Media files.

Usb windows media video

I am abroad and somebody lent me a usb drive with a large windows media video i need to upload to my ipad. I do have access to a pc in an internet cafe. How do i do that? Im a newbe, so please dumb down the step by step instructions. Thanks a million!

You can give this a try. Offhand, I can't think of any other way to do it. This will cost you a few dollars in order to do this.
I assume that you know how to copy the file from the USB drive to the PC, so copy the file to the PC.
Download an app like the Wireless Transfer App on your iPad, You will be able to upload the file to the iPad using a Web Browser on the PC.

Now you need an app that can play the files on the iPad.

You might want to read the descriptions about these apps before you get started. There are other WiFi transfer apps that you can download in the App Store and one of the others may have more appeal to you. I did a quick Google search for the Windows media file player as well. I'm sure that there are other apps that will play the files that you can look for if this one doesn't seem to suit your needs.
NOTE: Make sure that you read the support information and instructions for the Video Player app because I don't use the app and I'm not sure how you get the files into the app once you have transferred the video to the iPad. I assume that you can use "Open In" like you use for other apps on the iPad.

the plugin for win media player is already installed and working fine in FF 6.02 before upgrade. i have Google this issue without any result so far. so i reinstalled the old version 6.02, until fix is found.

The issue was not with FF 7.01. VLC player version 1.11.1 is conflicting with windows media player when FF 7.01 tries to play media files! Which was not happening before in FF 6.02.
VLC and plugin media player need to be uninstalled first, then uninstalled FF 6.02. Install FF 7.01 and then win plugin media player again.

iTunes cannot import Windows Media Video. You'll have to use some other software to convert your WMV into a format iTunes can accept. Try Videora iPod Converter, which many people seem to have success with.

Can you give us a bit of basic detail such as what phone you have?
If you are asking what program you need to watch WMV files then the answer is none. The only phones that support this are some of the newer FP2 models like the N96 & N85. For older models there is no software that lets you watch WMV's.
If thats not what you are asking then please try to explain in more detail exactly what you want.
