How to charge / disconnect Nano withouth iTunes

Hi,
I just bought a new apple nano and I sync it with my computer at home.
However, I have another computer at work in which there is no iTunes
installed. I want to charge my ipod in that computer so I have the
cable and I plug the iPod to the computer.
The iPod screen says do not disconnect, what do I do to disconnect the
iPod without damaging it if I dont have iTunes installed?

You can eject the iPod with the keyboard shortcut Control-E in Windows or by clicking on the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop: Safely disconnect iPod

Is iTunes installed on the computer? If so, open iTunes and see if the iPod is recognized. When it is, let iTunes update the iPod and then you can eject the iPod and remove it from the computer.

Thanks so much for your help. I took the time to go through all the songs saved on my Time Machine backup drive used by the older machine and drag those music files I want to keep. Now I'm using an old hard drive to backup up the entire iTunes folder on the old Mac to be able to keep those files until I'm sure I have all that I want.
Everything is now in iTunes Match and my iPhone seems to have sync'ed successfully. Now I'd like to delete those files stored in iTM from my hard drive and just keep them in the Cloud. Is this a good idea? I'm thinking I can save a lot of hard drive space.
My iPhone does have Match turned on. So I should be able to keep everything sync'd just by using iTunes Match, right?

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not your "account." The "account" you have for iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use when purchasing or downloading from the iTunes Store. If these songs came from music CDs that you imported into iTunes, those songs are not related to your Apple ID.

How are they not "recognized"? Are the songs still listed in your iTunes music library, but grayed out? They no longer appear in your iTunes library at all?
If you search your computer (not in iTunes) for the song files, using one of the song names, can you find the song files?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

I have bogus charges on my bank account. How can I get help from Itunes customer service? Been in an insane loop here.

Copy the iTunes folder from the disk to the Mac, and the iPhone backup to the right place on the Mac (Google for "iphone backup location"). Then when you restore you can reload the last backup.

I just bot a new ipodnano and synched my playlists from my itunes library. However, I am unable to disconnect as it says the the ipodnano contains files that are in use by "another application". What is it talking about and how do I disconnect?

This is after my synch was succesfull and it says I can disconnect now - but it won't let me.

For the immediately problem, you can shut down the computer and disconnect the iPod.
There may be a process (program) running on your computer in the background that continuously monitors mounted volumes for things like maintenance, data corruption, and malware. The iPod's storage is a mounted volume. If you know of any such program, such as an "anti-virus" utility, and it has settings that allow you to exclude certain volumes, you can set it to ignore the iPod "disk" when connected.
Also, if you are using automatic syncing (not the manual method) to load the iPod, and you have Enable disk use turned ON, turn it OFF. With Enable disk use turned OFF, iTunes only mounts the iPods disk when syncing, then immediately unmounts the disk. Thus, other processes you have running on your PC (not iTunes) will have less of a chance to make the disk "in use" and cause this problem. You won't even have to eject the iPod before disconnecting.

I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".
