I've just got my new iPad and I'm not sure how it suppose to be charged for the first time. I think that the guy in the store told me to use it until its 20% and than charge it for 8 hours ... Is this what I should do??

When syncing my iPad for the first time to my iTunes (which was in Australia at one time but no longer) my iPad defaulted to the Australian format for phone numbers and each contact listed was now an Australian address. My iTunes is set to the USA. How/Where do I change the setting? It also changes the default to Australia on each of my iTouches and iPhones.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Just got the 5G Touch. I turned it on and was using the camera and stuff before I charged it for the first time. Then while charging, I listened to the music I was syncing through the speakers. I would think (from your original post) that the document was created in Numbers '08. Numbers 3.2.2 will not open a Numbers '08 document. Hence the message to save in Numbers '09. It looks as though your colleague must export to Excel and send you the Excel version.

How to download certificate for the first time programmatically?

Hi, I'm accessing a https server which has a self signed certificate for the first time. I was trying to download the certificate using like
cert = sslsession.getPeerCertificates()[0]
However I got the following exception: SSLPeerUnverifiedException
If I have the certificate on disk and I installed it using keytool to the keystore, I could see the keychain using this method. But is there a way in java to download the certificate for the first time?

Now I'm having another problem. I could now download the certificate and store in my keystore. but if I immediately reconnect to the https web page, I still got the exception telling me the certificate was not found:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
This should not happen as I have already had this certificate in my keystore. If I rerun the program, there's no problem, indicating the certificate was really there. I first guessed I might have to again call System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", "mycacerts") but that does not help.
anybody with an idea?

Connecting iPad for the first time.

I have an iPod Touch (3G) that I use to Sync with iTunes on a Win 7 laptop.
A few weeks ago I got a new iPad (32Gb) that I've downloaded many apps onto but nothing so far from iTunes.
I was about to update to iOS 7 but wanted to create a backup before I started.
I hadn't connected the ipad to the laptop until now but when I do I'm asked if I want to:
Set up as a new iPad
Restore form this backup -> iPod
I don’t want to de either!
There is no option to Transfer Purchases under Devices/ iPad as other suggestions state. (only for the iPod)
If go ahead and set up as a new ipad do I lose the Apps I've already bought and have to pay for again!

I bought myself a new iPhone and this was from the store, not from someone else, so how should I charge it for the first time? Should I wait when iPhone loads out till blank screen and the charge it to 100%?
How do you charge your iPhone by the way, sometimes I think that I should not let it load out till the blank screen, because when I put it on charge it sometimes took at least three times to begin charging - instead it loaded me the apple logo, waited for a second and then it loaded itself out, then I needed to push the sleep/wake button to turn it on and again it only showed me the apple logo for a second and loaded the iPhone out.
Do you start to charge your iPhone when it gives you the alert that 20% or 10% are remaining?

The new batteries don't need as much care as the old generations. Their lifetime is supposed to be mostly independent of how often and at what charge levels you discharge them. So feel free to charge as you wish.
If it starts showing inaccurate battery levels, calibrate it by doing a full discharge/recharge cycle.
