How to charge the Reader Digital Book.

Solved!
Go to Solution.

Follow these guidelines when charging your Reader Digital Book:
If you charge via a USB connection and leave your Reader Digital Book connected to the computer to charge and the computer goes into sleep/hibernation, charging will stop and the red charge indicator on the Reader will turn off. If left connected, your battery may begin to discharge. To avoid this, turn off any sleep/hibernation settings while charging or set your sleep or hibernation settings to come on after your Reader Digital Book has been charged and then disconnect it from the computer once charging has completed.
If possible charge the Reader device using an AC Adapter (optional for some models). When using the AC adapter to charge your Reader device, depending on your model, you with either see a lightning bolt symbol that appears next to the battery icon [FIG. 1] or a battery icon with an arrow [FIG. 2] that appears in the lower-right corner of the display of your Reader device. This is an indication that it is connected to AC power and is charging the battery properly. If the symbol is not present, double check the AC Adapter to ensure that your Reader device is properly connected. This symbol does not appear while charging via a USB connection.
It will take approximately 4 hours to achieve a full charge with a computer. It will take approximately 2 hours to achieve a full charge with the optional AC Adapter.
If your Reader Digital Book is left connected to a powered USB hub while the computer is shut down, your battery may begin to discharge. Disconnect your Reader from the hub when the computer is not powered on.
Always verify that your Reader is fully charged by disconnecting it from the computer and checking the battery indicator. The battery indicator will display 4 black bars when it is fully charged
After charging your Reader device, if the Reader Library software is still open, you should use the eject button in the Reader Library software to safely eject your Reader device. If you already closed the Reader Library software, you should use the Safely Remove Hardware feature of the Windows® operating system.
NOTE: When storing the Reader for a long period of time, use the Device Shutdown feature in the Advanced settings menu. After using Device Shutdown, it may take approximately 30 seconds for the Reader to start the next time the Reader is turned on.

  • How to reset the Reader Digital Book.

    Solved!

    Soft Reset
    IMPORTANT: A soft reset can be performed anytime and will resolve most issues.
    Locate the reset button access hole. It is labeled RESET and, depending on your model, can be found on the back or bottom of your Reader device.
    PRS 500 NOTE: On the PRS-500 model, you must remove the soft cover to locate the rest button access hole.
    Using a thin object such as a paper clip or stylus (included with touch models), press the RESET button.

    - When the movie or tv show does transfer onto your iphone/ipod touch you will be able to see it in the expanded view of your device in the "DEVICES" section.
    - If the files are not on your device, then:
         -- confirm you have SD or HD-SD video. HD-only content will not play and probably will not even sync. iTunes seems to reliably have SD versions with their HD distributions so this should not be an issue
         -- confirm you are synch-ing the content to the ipod device by browsing the DEVICE view's Movie or TV Show tabs to confirm the movie or episode is 'checked'
    - If the files are on the iPod and you cannot find them, check your Settings: General for Restrictions.  If you restrict, for example the movies to "G" rating. PG and higher movies will sync but you will not be able to find them on the iPod!

    Dear friend,
    Could you please advise me "how to transfer the whole address book from one nokia to another nokia phone via blue tooth connectivity. (move one by one is not convenience for my hundreds of contact.
    Thank and waiting for advice...
    victor

    If your phones have the built-in "Transfer" (sometimes called "Switch") application, try it.
    Otherwise, depending on the model(s) you can also copy all contacts to/from the memory card, and get them over that way.
    And you can also synchronize both programs to the same service (e.g., Outlook on a Windows PC using Nokia PC Suite).
    And newer versions of Nokia PC Suite can also be used to make a backup of one phone, and then restore to another.
    PC Suite you can find here: http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite

    Programming help - how to get the read-only state of PDF file is windows explorer preview is ON?
    I'm developing an application where a file is need to be saved as pdf. But, if there is already a pdf file with same name in the specified directory, I wish to overwrite it. And in the overwrite case, read-only files should not be overwritten. If the duplicate(old) file is opened in windows (Win7) explorer preview, it is write protected. So, it should not be overwritten. I tried to get the '
    FILE_ATTRIBUTE_READONLY' using MS API 'GetFileAttributes', but it didn't succeed. How Adobe marks the file as read-only for preview? Do I need to check some other attribute of the file?
    Thanks!

  • Asking for comparisons of the reading experience (books) on an iPad vs an iPad Mini before I buy

    I'm looking for comparisons of the reading experience (books) on an iPad vs iPad Mini.  Would prefer getting the Mini, but wonder if the screen is too small for prolonged reading?

    Reading on a glossy glass LED backlit LCD is sometimes difficult for some people - they report eye strain and headaches and such.  If you are like that, then for a dedicated ereader, that pretty much rules out any tablet with a glass LED lit screen (iPad, iPad mini, Kindle Fire, Nook tablet, Kobo Arc, and so on).
    If you do not like using glass LED/LCD screens for long periods, then a B&W eINK screen might be much better for you - like an original Amazon Kindle model, or a Nook Simple Touch or a Kobo Touch.
    As long as the screen is alright to your eyes, and if you want to read magazines or enhanced eBooks with color art and such, then you would want an LCD screen, the choice between iPad or iPad mini is mainly a choice about the size and weight of the device.  One nice thing about an iPad is reading in landscape mode on the big screen as that just works well with certain formats or book layouts (and is much better for magazines, IMO).  However, the iPad mini is much smaller, lighter, more comfortable to hold for long periods and more easily slipped into a coat pocket or bag.
    While I love my iPad, I actually use my Nook Simple Touch (the original model) if sitting down to read for a long time.  It is the lightest ereader I've ever held, and the size is perfect for one hand holding while reading.  The eINK is superb for text only novels and such, and it is a non-glare glass screen (it does not use capacitive touch for control - the touch control is via infrared LEDs mounted along two sides of the device, forming an infrared grid over the screen).  My Nook Simple touch is about 1/3rd or less the size of an iPad weighs right about 7.5oz, while an iPad is a bit over 23oz.  That difference may not seem like much, until you've been sitting holding it for a half hour trying to read.  The iPad mini is only about 11oz, so maybe a nice compromize weight, as long as you like the screen for long periods of reading.
    P.S. I do read a lot on my iPad too, as glossy LCD screens do not bother me, but if settiling down on a weekend to read a novel, I'll tend to pick up the Nook ST instead.
    That also begs the question of whether you want a truly (or mainly) dedicated ereader, or do you also need tablet functions as well (email, web browsing, other apps/functions).  eINK readers are pretty much ereaders-only, as the screen technology is really only good for displaying text, and is much slower to refresh than an active matrix LCD is.

  • I tried to update my ipod 4th gen. but when I came to see how much charge the screen was red and it wasnt charged and i cant use my ipod. the screen turned blue also one time, and now the apple logo comes up and its bright then dim and it stays there help

    I tried to update my iPod 4th generation while it was charging and when I came back to check on it the screen was red and it wouldnt go off, and my ipod wasnt charging like it was supposed to. I found out how to get the color of the screen off but my ipod always has the low battery thing and when I charge it sometimes the screen turns blue or the apple logo comes up bright and then it gets dim and stays there. My ipod wont turn on, and I really want it to work again. Help me please! Also, I noticed my ipod battery hasnt been lasting long as it should efore this happened.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Or you can select all your contacts in Address Book, click File/Export/Export vCard. Save the file to your desktop. Open Contacts at iCloud.com then click the Gear icon in the lower left corner to reveal the Import vCard option.
    It will get your contacts to iCloud and syncing with an iOS device however obviously any changes will not automatically sync between iCloud and the computer.

  • How to set the read only property for dynamic ALV column

    Hi All,
    I have built one dynamiv ALV and I have one name column inside that ALV for which I have to set read only property based on two column fields that exist in the same ALV,say IS_SP and IS_CORP of type boolean.
    If any one of the flag is 'X',i have to make that name column as display only and
    If both flag are not set,it should be displayed as ediatable column.
    I have written one method as INIT_ALV which gets called when ALV is loaded.
    Code is as  follows:
      lr_column_settings ?= wd_this->alv_all_roles.
      lt_columns = lr_column_settings->get_columns( ).
    LOOP AT lt_columns INTO ls_column.
    CASE ls_column-id.

                value_fieldname = ls_column-id.
         ls_column-r_column->set_cell_editor( lr_uie_input_field_ro ).
        After this,I have to set the read only property based on IS_SP and IS_CORP values,
              CALL METHOD lr_uie_input_field_ro->set_read_only_fieldname
              EXPORTING
                *value = 'IS_SP' or 'IS_CORP'

  • When/how to charge the iPhone for optimal battery life?

    I have an iPhone 3G 8GB. I was just wondering what the best way to go about charging the iPhone is, in order to optimise the battery life?
    Should you wait until the iPhone is really flat/ low battery and then charge it up full, or are smaller and more frequent 'shallow' charges healthier?
    I also heard somewhere that every couple of months or so it is a good idea to let the battery run completely dead and then charge it up, in order to calibrate it or something... but that doing this too often could be detrimental.
    Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated! I don't know if I should let my iPhone run really low before charging it or if smaller more frequent chargers are the way to go.
    Thanks!

    Thanks! I did read over that and have taken the steps mentioned and fiddled around with settings of my phone to optimise use. I was just wondering if anyone else had anything else to add about charging habits specifically and what works best... I think mainly I'm just being paranoid about my phone dying prematurely since it's the first time I've owned such an expensive gadget!
    Also, can you overcharge it? Is it bad to leave it on the charger overnight? I've done some searching in other threads/ webpages and there seems to be some discrepancies but for the most part people seem to think that it will be fine?

  • How to charge the direct FI cost to network activities?

    Hi,
    I was trying to use FB50 to charge the FI cost to the network. In the entry screen, there is a column called "network". But my account assignment element is actually at the activity level and I cannot find a column called "Network activity". So how can I input the network activity in that screen?
    Thanks,
    Ting

    Dear Ting,
    You can do direct FI postings to Network & Activity by using FB50 Transaction.
    When you enter FB50
    First enter Network No.
    Then you will find "Transaction No." column there you can enter Activity No. where you have to post actual cost.
    "Transaction No." column you can see in between "Grant" & "Quantity" column.
