How to check HD space?

I'm down to less than 4GB of my 40GB hard drive. Is there any way to check iBook to see where all my space is going? Is there one single place that would show that say pictures is 4.5 GB, iTunes is 4GB etc. How can I find out what amount of HD space each section of the system is taking?
I recently upgraded to Tiger and then added iLife06 yesterday. Those 2 literally ate HD. I'm getting an external drive, but how can you monitor where that HD space is going?

Can you please let us know which responses helped the most or solved your thread. The reason is so one can use this post as future reference. I noticed that you marked this thread as solved, can you let us know what helped. You can also award points to the users that helped (two) and the one that (solved). This is not that important, but it shows the quality of answers by the number of points one user has (when levels are put back. They are based on the number of points from being awarded helpful or solved). As I said, the points don't matter that much, it is know which post helped that does.

How will check the space taken by a single table in a tablespace ?
dba_segments is giving the same values even if I truncate the table?
    Pls reply

I need to know how can we find out the size of the table in the tablespace.use user_segments (bytes) column.
How much bytes it has taken ?value from user_segments, bytes column
If u delete records will the space be used for another table in same tablespace? No, it keep the space in the same table for future usage.
How can we free that space ?truncate or drop the table and reduce the size from tablespace, if you want to reclaim the space from the tablespace, OS level.

  • How to check word space in a pdf file?

hi, i need to check the word space in a pdf file.
if the the space between any two words exceeds 6pt i should be get alerted.
also such events should be displayed as a log file.
is there any possibilites to check the above criteria in adobe professional or its supporting tools such as enfocus pitstop professional?
    if anyone knows please answer.
    ramsankar

If it can be checked it would be with PreFlight or PitStop. However, because of the structure I doubt that it can be done. Spacing and such aspects of word processing are really not part of a PDF. The PDF should be a duplicate of your word processing file and if it is correct there, then the PDF should be fine. However, it sounds like you are doing a check for paper submissions or such. In that case I understand your interest, but still doubt that it can be done. Hopefully others may drop by with a more favorable answer.

  • How to check for space in manual trigger Search Mask(True/False) Propertie?

I would like to trigger an section called section1 coded within the from frm1, when at least one record of a transaction has a value of FRM at offset 1 and spaces in position 358?
I am trying to specify as below:
    1,FRM,358()
    is the above syntax correct?
Even though, ' ' appears in extract file for record at offset 358 and with FRM in position 1, the section1 is not triggrered. I have verified in the NA file?
Please note that FRM can be a repeating record.
    Thanks,
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
    The correct trigger would be:
    "1,FRM,358, "
Please note the space at the end of the trigger.

  • How to check space on asm and raw device?

    Hi All,
I want to know how to check the space on asm device.
we are using asm device which is on raw partition.
Our archive gets full.I need to check the space on asm archve partiotion.
how can i check the archive destination space?
we are using raw device partition for crs and voting device.
how can we check the space on raw device and how can we know which device is in use and which are not in use
    Thanks in advance

    4 - 5 raw partitions...
    What oracle version?
Install OCR + VOTE in raw device better than OCFS2. if you use 10g to 11gR1.
If use 11gR2,keep OCR + VOTE in ASM Disk Group.
you can check which raw device OCR:
    $ ocrcheck
    VOTEDISK:
    $ crsctl query css votedisk
On 10g if use raw device for OCR + votedisk: recommend 1 file = 250M
    11g recommend 1 file = 512M
    Good Luck

  • My hard drive icon has gone from finder. how do i check available space?

I normally check my available hard drive space by clicking on the icon hardrive in finder window.  However in Lion its not there. where is it?   How do i check available space?

Go to Finder Preferences (in the Finder menu) > General tab, make sure the item "Hard Disks" is checkmarked. Once it is, your hard drive's icon should appear on the desktop in the rightmost column.
You can also maintain a quickly viewable summary. In Finder, go to the View menu and select Show Status Bar. That will add a narrow area at the bottom of each Finder window. In that area will be shown the amount of free space remaining on the drive, as well as the number of items in that folder.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.

  • How can i tell how much hard drive space my website is taking up on my computer?

I have a website that i build through iweb and publish via mobile me.  i have about 200 podcasts on the site, and I am trying to figure out how much hard drive space this is taking up on my computer.  these files are not in itunes, and i'm not concerned about the space they are taking up in my cloud, i just want to know how much space on my computer they are taking up because i'm trying to decide if i should move my iweb site to a different computer to alleviate some space issues.  any help would be much appreciated.

Check the size of the Domain.site2 file that is in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.  it contains all of the files used to create and publish your site.  I'm not sure if it copies the podcasts into it or not. You can open the domain package and do a search for them. Just don't move, rename or delete any files inside that package or your site is toast.
