  • IXML - Checking if a specific node exists in XML data

    Hi,
I´m reading XML data by using iXML classes. One XML file I´m reading contains header and
    item data.
Right now I´m starting with reading the header attributes and then read all nested nodes and their attribute data. That works all fine, but now I had the error, that the XML file wrongly didn´t contain the items.
My XML reading method then ended up in a dump because the node was null:
    l_node = l_iterator->get_next( ).
Can anybody give me an advice, how to check at the beginning of reading my xml data, if a specific node (in my case the node for items) exists in the XML data? If not, I want to stop with an error message. I want to check that at the beginning, before reading all element data, to keep my method structured.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi,
You can create a filter and set that filter to the iterator. If this is done the iterator returns you only the node with a specific node name or node ID.
You can also check the parsing in the following WIKI code gallery
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/JoDmAQ
Subroutines create_set_filter_attribute and parse_xml_file would be helpful.

how to check which version of hyperic is installed , hyperic 32 bit or 64 bit version on solaris

If you have only a single home, the quickest/easiest way is probably just to check the properties of %ORACLE_HOME%\odp.net\bin\2.x\oracle.dataacess.dll
Or are you asking how to check it at runtime?
If you want to see externally what is actually loaded by an app you can use process explorer

If you want to check it in the app itself:

In Solaris 10 you can tune it by setting 'segmap_percent' in /etc/system, i can imagine its doable in Solaris 8 as well.

  • How to check for updates on SCM packages?

    Hey guys,
I wondered for some time now how to check for updates on SCM packages, i.e. -git
or -svn ones. Updates for binary packages are automatically updated by pacman,
no problem there. Checking for updates on non-SCM packages from the AUR is
easily done with one of the various helper tools available (personally, I use
    slurpy).
However, SCM packages can change without their PKGBUILD changing, so I'm not
notified that I should recompile and update them.
Is there a "proper" way of doing this? Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance!

If your system is booting then u can say that your bootblks are installed.Usually BootBlks are present in 0 & 1 slice of UFS Filesystem
    /usr/platform/platform-name/lib/fs/ufs
directory where ufs boot objects reside.
An x86 FDISK partition for the Solaris software begins with a one-cylinder boot slice, which contains the partition boot program (pboot) in the first sector, the standard Solaris disk label and volume table of contents (VTOC) in the second and third sectors, and the bootblk program in the fourth and subsequent sectors. When the FDISK partition for the Solaris software is the active partition, the master boot program (mboot) reads the partition boot program in the first sector into memory and jumps to it. It in turn reads the bootblk program into memory and jumps to it. Regardless of the type of the active partition, if the drive contains multiple FDISK partitions, the user is given the opportunity to reboot another partition.

  • Preinstallation check; Sysdef on Solaris 10

    Hi,
Sysdef on solaris 10 doesn't work.
How to check the Kernal params during preinstallation of R12

Not any more in Solaris 10.You can still set the kernel parameters in Solaris 10 but with some caveats as follows -- Otherwise, it would not be documented in Metalink Notes (R12 installation) plus it would not work with me :)
    - Values in /etc/system must be greater than the new defaults values of Solaris 10
    - Any kernel parameters tunables that are obsolete in Solaris 10 are ignored
    - Values specified in /etc/system are global and affect all processes on the system
    - If you use /etc/system to set IPC rctl values, you must reboot the system for them to take effect
You can set system parameters temporarily by using prctl, but that is lost at reboot so you will need to add the command to the oracle user's .profile
The other option is to create a default project for the oracle user:
    projadd -U oracle -K "project.max-shm-memory=(priv,2048MB,deny)" user.oracle
    What this does?
    - Makes a project named "user.oracle" with the user oracle as it's only member
    - Because the name was of the form "user.username" it becomes the oracle user's default project
    - The value of the maximum shared memory is set to 2GB, you might want to use a larger value here if you have more memory and swap
    - No reboot is needed, the user will get the new value at their next login
You can check the default project associated with user with following command:
    $ id -p oracle
