How to check the contents of my time capsule back up

My new Time Capsule has treid to back up my MAcBook since yesterday. In the Time MAchine list, I can find the folder but not the size of the back up or any other details which files etc. were backed up. The symbol in the upper part oif the sreen (what is hte name) is working or not.
Time Capsule is also quite hot.
I have connected the Time Capsule with ethernet to MacBook, not to my modem. Is that correct?

You also access it from the finder just double click on the time machine icon then you can see the backups on the drive right click on a backup and select get into.  Or you can open airport utility and click on the manual button, when your get to the next screen click on the disk up top then click on the time capsule in the window it will get you info.

How to delete all content on a time capsule created by Time Machine, and begin again creating a new savings bundle ?

You make a sparse bundle.. but don't ask me how that is different to a bundle of savings. Sparsebundle is what the special TM backup is called. It is a kind of disk image I think.. what makes it sparse is unclear as well.
Anyway.. you are on Lion I guess.. download 5.6 utility for Lion. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
So you can get a utility that does utilities.. and not pretty faces.
And go to the disk page and erase the drive.. a quick erase is plenty and is pretty fast.

  • How to erase the existance of a Time capsule

    Hi,
I would like to know how to erase the existance of a Time capsule, like it never existed, because sometimes I can see remains of my old network, and I'd like to know how to reset all this,
    sincerely

    Welcome to the discussions!
You will want to do two things to get the TC back to total factory defaults:
1)Return all configuration settings to factory defaults
2)Erase your disk. (Do this only if you want to erase all of your backups).
Power down the TC for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and KEEP holding it in as you plug the power back in
Release the reset button after approximately 10 seconds
Your configuration is now reset to factory defaults.
    To erase the disk:
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Disk icon at the top of the setup pane
Click the Disks tab just below the icons
Click Erase. Choose your erase options only if you want to erase all backups.
    That's it.

  • How to change the "content created" date/time in FCPX?

Since I've had problems importing my whole iMovie event library into FCPX I decided to run some tests with importing individual files (part of iMovie events and originally imported from camera into iMovie). Some of them for some reason got the wrong "content created" date/time in them while in iMovie they have the right date/time set. Does anybody have an idea on how to change the "content created" timestamp?

I had a bunch of DV files that imported stamped with the file modification date and time.  I did not find a way to change it in FCPX. With FCPX not running, I used A Better Finder Attributes to modify the creation and modification dates of the files in the event folder. FCPX reconnected to them but the event still showed the old range of dates so I created a new event and moved the clips to it. Maybe ther is a beter way but that is how I did it.

  • How to check the contents of MCVBAK table?

    Hi all of you,
I am using MCVBAK table for extraction using LIS.  The problem I am facing is when I am running the init load in BW for my IS S511, it is successfully running but in the monitor screens it says only 1 from 1 record. I thought that there are no records in the table MCVBAK so I wanted to make sure if there are really no records in MCVBAK table.
So I went to R/3 gave the T.C SE11 and entered the table MCVBAK to check its contents.  But in the MCVBAK table what I find is the graphics button and contents button are invisible.  My question is
How to find the contents of the table MCVBAK?
    Please help.
    Thank you,
    Tristan.

    Hi TR,
Yah, you need to check VBAK Table at SE11, Things that start with "MC...." are usually structures. Anther point, I want to mention is, When you schedule as Init load at the BW side, the system will get the data from S511 table(which is Information Structure table). So, you have do statistical setup first (at eg for sales Tcode is oli7) which will copy the records from VBAK table to your Information Structure (i.e S511).Only then, you can perform Init Load. Hope this Info help!

  • How to check the contents of Control file, Log file & Parameter file

Can anybody help me how i can check the contents of Control file, Log file & Parameter file.
    Arif

    OK ...
    Parameter file:
It will normally be in the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directopry. It could be aan init{sid}.ora or a spfile{sid}.ora ... do not edit an SPFILE as yu could corrupt it.
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/create.htm#sthref434
If it's an init{sid}.ora, use any editor to see the actual content.
If it's a spfile{sid}.ora, use one of V$PARAMETER, V$PARAMETER2, V$SYSTEM_PARAMETER, V$SYSTEM_PARAMETER2 as aappropriate (read the Reference manual to get an idea about when each is appropriate)
    Control File:
You should not edit a control file. It consists of many areas, as described here http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/physical.htm#i10135 and each are is interrogated by V$views as given in the reference manual. • How to check the DHCP lease remaining time

    Hello Community,
I am troubleshooting a connectivity issue on my Macbook pro which APPARENTLY ignores the DHCP ACK messages sent in reply to Unicast DHCP Requests (the ones sent when T1 timer expires at 50% of the lease time) from a particular DHCP server.
Do you happen to know the command which shows the current remaining lease time for the assigned DHCP IP address? I need that to confirm my assumptiom.
By checking in the /leases folder you may only see the original lease Start date, which is the time the initial DHCP DORA process took place. When the 'refresh' DHCP requests are sent after 50% of the lease, and consequently the DHCP ACKs from the server are received the value in that file does not change. That means that this command is not good to check what I need.
    I.e.:
    xxxxxxx-mac:db xxxxxxi$ sudo cat /private/var/db/dhcpclient/leases/en1-1,<omitted-MAC>
    Password:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
              <key>IPAddress</key>
              <string>192.168.1.14</string>
              <key>LeaseLength</key>
              <integer>600</integer>
              <key>LeaseStartDate</key>

              AQT///8AAwTAqAEBBgTAqAEBDwRob21lKgTDDQGZ/wAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
              </data>
              <key>RouterHardwareAddress</key>
              <data>

              <key>RouterIPAddress</key>
              <string>192.168.1.1</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>
Even when a subsequent DHCP ACK message is received that value remains unchanged.
I need a command or application which shows instead the actual lease timer.
    thanks,
    Riccardo

apparently I am not getting lucky by putting the question this way.. let me try another approach giving more background details.
    PROBLEM:
When I am in a particular location my mac get disconnected from the network every 30 minutes when my DHCP IP address expires. The DHCP server grants 30 minutes IP leases only.
I took some capture (I sniffed DHCP transactions) and I could see that when 50% of the lease time is reached (T1) my mac sends a new unicast DHCP request to the DHCP server which replies immediately with a DHCP ACK confirming 30 more minutes.
Unfortunately I did not find any command to see if the lease gets actually extended.
What I see is that after few minutes (matching the 87.5% T2 timer) my match fires a new DHCP request, which is also answered immediately with a ACK. Then in the last minutes before the 30 minutes threshold I see many other requests which are also all answered. Nevertheless when the origianal 30 minutes lease expires my MAC releases the IP and start a new Discovery process (sending a bcast request). After few seconds the DORA process completes and usually the mac gets the same IP address. The issue for me is that in the meantime my VPN session to my corporate network goes down and all the services associated with that go down too (softphone, presence, chat, email etc).
I did some test in my place and I configured my DHCP server to assign IP addresses with a 30 minutes lease time too. Strangely the issue does not happen. On my place every 15 minutes (again the famous T1 timer = 50% of the lease) my mac sends a request and the DHCP replies with an ACK. This time apparently the lease gets extended as I don't see all the other requests. Needless to say that the IP does not get released at any time.
I compared the wireshark capture to spot any difference between that DHCP ACK I got in that given location and the one I got in my place but they look the same to me.
So the question is, how would you troubleshoot this issue? Which kinds of logs, outputs or debugs should I take?
    thanks,
    Riccardo

  • How to check the Memory consumtions and time taken by a Java Program??

    HI all,
I want to know how to check for the Memory Usage of an XML Parser.
See, a product was developed completely in DOM parser and now I am replacing that thing with SAX Parser Completely, because the DOM parser was taking huge memory as u may have guessed.
BUt the thig is that, now I want to check how much memory is being taken by the SAX parser alone and DOM parser alone so that I can compare them.
Can anyone suggest me how to do that ???
    Thanx in Advance
    Kaushik

    Thanx boss ..thanx a lot
I tried that, but in the API docs, it is mentioned that freeMemory()Returns the amount of free memory "in the system"
and totalMemory() Returns the total amount of memory in the "Java Virtual Machine".
So if I compare both the Values then would it give the Correct result to me ???? Beacuse the freeMemory() gives the data in terms of the Host System whereas totalMemory() provides the data in terms of Java Virtual Machine ..... are they Same ?????
I think I am clear in explaining what exactly is going on my mind ...
    Please clarify
    Thanx again

  • How to check the content of cluster table smw3_bdoc1(00)

    Hi!
I want to check the business partner changes sending via bdoc from crm to sap.
For this i want to look into the bdocs.
    I think it's the cluster-table smw3_bdoc1.
'Cause i don't know which is the name of the structure in the clustd-field i use:
data: dirtab type table of cdir,
          wa_dirtab like line of dirtab.
import directory into dirtab from database
                                      smw3_bdoc1(00)
                                      id '49600667F6980046E1008002AC18C6E5'.
    if sy-subrc = 0.
      write  / 'Directory:'.
      loop at dirtab into wa_dirtab.
        write: / wa_dirtab-name,  wa_dirtab-otype, wa_dirtab-ftype,
                 wa_dirtab-tfill, wa_dirtab-fleng.
      endloop.
    else.
      write 'Not found'.
    endif.
So i've found the directory object "BDOC_BODY".
Now i want to read the content with:
    data:   iclust type string.
    loop at itbdocid.
         IMPORT BDOC_BODY = iclust FROM DATABASE smw3_bdoc1(00)
                                        ID itbdocid-bdoc_id.
    endloop.
    An error message raises with...
    "error importing the object BDOC_BODY"
The dump tells me that object types of BDOC_BODY and iclust doesn't match.
I've changed the field iclust to type xstring... but it's the same error.
If somebody here can help... Thanks a lot!
    Cheers, Ingo

    Hi,
Thanks, I can see the data now.I am expecting that data should display in the 2LIS_VDKON extractor. There are two records for particular condition type.Item 10 and Item 20, but in RSA3, it is showing only one record for Item 20 and not showing for Item 10.
I have cleaned and filled the setup tables, but still no luck.
Can you please guide me, where else to look?
    Thanks

  • HEEELP, how on earth can I see what the content on my Time Capsule??

    Hi,
I have recently switched from PC to Apple and bought a MacBook Air and a 2TB Time Capsule (although been using ios for yonks)
I have trawled a gzillion forums trying to find a way to view all my stuff (photos mainly) on the Time Capsule .. but I'm getting nowhere fast!
When I use Finder, I can see the my TC in the 'Shared' section, but when I click through, I keep getting to something called 'SparseBundle' but cant actually see my stuff .. it is driving me nuts!
Does anyone out there know how to solve this problem?
Surely it shouldn't be this hard to do something so simple .. should it?

Time Machine does not store the files in the same format that is used on the actual computer drive.. you cannot just use a photo from TM backup.. and you are likely not to be able to see individual photos in the library at all. The backup has to be restored to an alternative location and then you will need to open the library from there.
See pondini and read about how TM works.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Works.html
For the particular issue with iphoto permissions.
    http://pondini.org/TM/E9.html
Go to top menu and read though the FAQ and the home page for the first nuts and bolts stuff.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
If you are trying to locate the photo library on the TC it is fraught with danger.. the TC has no internal backup mechanism.. other than a manually started full disk backup to usb drive.. very slow and TC cannot be used while it works.

  • My ATV is full, how can I move the contents to my Time Capsule?

My Apple TV is full (although some of its contents appear as other and I cannot see them). I have a MacBookPro and a Time Capsule. I back up my mac everyday, but what I want to do is to erase content from my ATV so I can download more in it. Is it possible to sync the content of the ATV directly to the time capsule? So I can have my library in the time capsule and don't get my mac's hard disk full either?
    Thanks!
    C.

You could use custom syncing to sync only unwatched videos, that would delete them from the ATV once they've been watched through to the end, but they would remain in the iTunes library. You could also move your iTunes library to your Time Capsule if you want to free up space on your MBP hard drive.
You would need to copy your library folder to the Time Capsule, then change the library location in iTunes preferences. Once you've confirmed everything is working properly, you can delete the files from your MBP. Regardless of where your library is located, it's a good idea to keep your files backed up to DVDs.

  • How to restore the backup files on time capsule after reinstalled the system

please can someone help me to restore my backups on time capsule after reinstalled the new system. I tried after finished reinstall but it could not find. I also tried with the migration assistant in utilities, it also doesn't work. I always have time machine backed up all my files but now I can not bring anything back

What "new system" did you reinstall?
Are you upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Or did you reinstall Leopard?  If so, why and how (that may provide a clue)?
How is your Mac connected to the Time Capsule (use Ethernet for best results)?
You may need to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

The hd media player can access film in shared disks of LAN but not that in time capsule?

    More info required.
    What media player would help.
Can the media player see the TC?
Can the media player see files and directories in the TC?
If not have you turned on guest access, and got the right workgroup name for the rest fo the network?

  • Why am I not seeing the contents of my Time Capsule?

I have a Macbook Pro with Yosemite, and an Apple Time Capsule that I back up to with Time Machine. I plugged the capsule into my wireless router and plugged the capsule in to the wall, my laptop is connected to the Internet via the capsule wireless, but nothing shows up in Finder when I click on the capsule in the sidebar.
I did click on the small Connect menu button on the top right of the Finder screen, as well as Get Info, when Finder shows the Time Capsule, but a message saying I need to contact the administrator is displayed. I am the admin.

    Chris Milligan wrote:
So I would lose all backups on the TC, that is a drag. I guess I will try that.
No data on the TC hard disk is lost.. except by your deliberate executing a delete command from finder or erase from Airport Utility.. otherwise it is perfectly fine.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
How does the Thunderbolt adapter work? I have a Macbook Air. Right now I just plug the ethernet cable into my router, and then I connect to the TC address.
You still have the TC plugged into main router by ethernet..
You plug the Thunderbolt adapter into the MBA and ethernet cord (you have to buy another one).. into the LAN port of the TC.. turn off the wireless in the MBA so you will force the connection to ethernet.. this is far superior and faster and more reliable interface. And always good to know if things go wrong with wireless.. which is a technology more akin to voodoo that you have a reliable method to use. Wireless is great when you travel.. but it is a major cause of bugs.. so when you are having issues.. always try to bypass it. The thunderbolt to ethernet adapter is priced at just $35 I think.. cf most thunderbolt adapters it is really cheap and worth it.
