How to choose a specific port via Palimpsest?

I found out today that Palimpsest Disk Utility can access remote harddrives via the SSH protocol. But Im not running SSH on my server via port 22. How do I choose a specific port?

You don't state which version of Keynote you're using. Keynote 3 offers an option to restart the presentation after an inactivity of x min (at least 1 min).
Look at Document inspector on the Document tab.

How I choose a specific font?

I have only just started using Edge on occasion so don't berate me if this is really obvious but how do I choose a specific font to use?
When I add a font it lists it as a font family e.g. "Georgia, Times New Roman, serif" and it automatically sets it to a specific font and I can't select the font I want. This is also an issue with web fonts where it uses the system font rather than my custom web font. I'm trying to use a cursive type of font. I had the same issue when using Dreamweaver but Photoshop does not work this way.

Once you've added a web font (last item in the fonts menu, or + button to its right), it appears in the Fonts section of your Library (here Quattrocento Sans) :
Then, you can apply this font to any text element by selecting this new item in the menu :

Well, I'm not quite sure how to use that classid for "static versioning". I mean, if I need to use 1.3.1_08 but not others (not even 1.3.1_07 or 1.3.1_09, but only 1.3.1_08), what classid should I use?
That page doesn't teach us what syntax we're supposed to use!
On the other hand, my webapp needs to detect what JRE is installed and would suggest what to do in case the specific version can't be found in client computer. What should I do?
Thirdly, I've noticed that the order of installing versions is important. Let's say there're two versions in a computer, V1 and V2, while what I need is V1. Depending on V1 or V2 is the final installed one, my detection might or might not work. Someone knows what to do?

Multiple AEBS, How to choose a specific base station?

Hello - I have a new AEBS N as well as an older UFO-shaped AEBS. Both are connected to the internet via ethernet and I am sharing a wireless network between the two. I have one printer and 2 USB hard drives hooked up to the AEBS N via Air Disk. So far so good.
The question I have is in regard to which base station I am attached to. Is there a way to switch from one base station to the other without having to pull the power cord on the one I want to disconnect from? I ask this because if I move to the second level of my house which has the UFO-shaped AEBS then I will get my wireless connection via that base station however I still wish to stay connected to the AEBS N on the lower level which has the printer and USB drives attached to it. Going through the old AEBS through the new N one to access the hard drives really slows down hard drive access time, and it is much speedier with a direct connection.

Same here... Not sure what the deal is with that... How can you see the other and the drives connected to it through the other one, but if you are connected to the other one, you can't get on the internet... Not good. When I moved and it automatically connected to the one that can't access the internet, I selected it through AirPort Utility and restarted it, the computer than found the one with the internet while the other one was off line restarting. Not a fix, but easier than unplugging it. I'm sure Apple is working on a TON of fixes for this thing... Time will tell and it will take time to perfect it!

Open IP to on specific port

Hi!
I have one internal IP and two external IP adresses. I want to use one adress for allowing mail to my server and one address for sending mails to mobile phones.
I am not sure about how the NAT should look like. The ACL is no problem since I have two public adresses.
How do i NAT specific ports for specific adresses?
10.1.1.2 should be NATted to 15.15.15.15 port 34
10.1.1.2 should be NATted to 15.15.15.16 port 443

WRT54G: How do I limit access to specific ports, only to local IP's

Using a WRT54G with Windows XP, and I've setup a web server that I'm still testing. Until I understand the security better, I want to limit access from outside IP's to the port that it's running on, but NOT limit access from the outside to services running on other ports. Is there a way to block a range of IP addresses (or conversely, only permit access for a limited range of IP addresses) to a specific port? So for example (assuming server's on Port 99, and IP address to the outside world is 99.99.99.99: Port 99: Blocked IP Range: 0.0.0.0-99.99.99.98, and 99.99.99.100-255.255.255.255 - OR Port 99: Allowed IP Range: 99.99.99.99 Alternatively, I would be interested to permit access to the web server port, only for certain MAC addresses. Is this pretty secure, and if so, how can this be done? I've poked around the router settings and spent a good deal of time researching this; any help would be greatly appreciated...

Why do you want to block IP addresses: "IP Range: 0.0.0.0-99.99.99.98, and 99.99.99.100-255.255.255.255" ?   This is everybody on the web, except your router!    If you really want to block all these people, just unplug your router from your Internet connection. That is a block that cannot be hacked!
Normally a server is assigned a fixed LAN IP address. This address must be outside the DHCP server range of your router, and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.
Next you forward a port (for example, 99) to the server's fixed LAN IP address.
Data arriving at the Internet port of your WRT54G for port 99 will then be forwarded to your server. If you have other Internet services (i.e. server B) running on port 1297, then data that arrives at the Internet port of your WRT54G for port 1297 will be directed to server B.   Assuming that you only have port 99 and port 1297 open, then any other unrequested data (for any other port) that arrives at the Internet port of your WRT54G will simply be ignored (and thereby blocked).    If you connect another computer to a LAN port of the WRT54G, connect to the Internet, and request data, then when that data arrives at the Internet port of the WRT54G, it will be allowed to pass, and it will be routed to your computer.
In summary, by default, all router ports are closed. The only way to get data through the router is either to open a port (using port forwarding, or alternatively, the UPnP function), or for someone (or some program) on the LAN to request data from the web.
The router cannot limit the use of a port by MAC address.    When you open a port on your router, you are opening your server to invasion from anyone on the Internet. So, your server must be setup to protect itself.   Rather than limiting server use by MAC address (which can be faked), your server should be setup to require a user name and password.

    First, I can say that your project involves many things, I cannot describe all features in the forum, and I'm not used with GPRS modems (my modems are base band serial modems...).
    Anyway, I would say that in your project you should proceed like this:
      1) Configure your FP 2000 module via MAX and ethernet connection;
      2) Download an embedded application to your module (build in LabView Real-Time)
      3) In your application, you should build a kind of serial port manager, and by the means of serial port you send/receive commands from PC.
    The commands from PC can include "Tell me the about the FP 2000 file system ", or "switch on line X", or anything you need.
   I think it would be difficult to use Internet exp, because you use IE with TCP/IP, and TCP/IP is over ethernet.
   I know that for Windows you can find some wrappers that make you "see" the serial port as an ethernet, but these wrapper do not exist under filed Point, and you shoul build one yourself!!!(and that's not easy).
    For example, to browse your files, you should build a VI that searches through your file system, and reports, via serial, the files present in a directory (it's an example....).
    About communication between GPRS modems and FP2000, I know nothing. I suppose that these modems accept serial inputs, so you'll have to configure your serial port on FP 2000 with the correct baud rate, parity, and so on..... and you send your data to the modem. The modem will transfer data in its way, no matter on how it does.
    To send data to your modem you shoud take a look to some Serial communication examples. What I suggest you, first, is to connect the serial port of FP2000 to a PC, and test communication between PC and FP2000, without modems. Just direct cable connection! If you're able to do this, insertion of modems is the next step, and should be quite easy. If you're not able to make the PC receive strings of data from FP2000, over RS232, adding modems is a further complication, and you won't come out of this mess!
   So, what I say, is just build, for now, a simple embedded application for FP2000, that, using RS232, sends data to a PC (you should see data sent with use of Hyper terminal).
    To build this application, use Instrument I/O --> VISA commands (VISA open, VISA write, and Property node should be enough, for now).

I need to add specific ports/port ranges to the OS X Lion clients' firewalls, any ideas?
OS X Lion firewall settings only allow adding applications. There is no "LDAP" application, it's built into the Network preferences settings. The LDAP server is an OS X Lion Server running Open Directory.

No, you can configure both the client and server as much as you want. The only issue is that most people just don't understand what a firewall does (they think it is the same as anti-virus) so neither Apple nor I will bother explaining all the nitty-gritty details right off the bat.
The client version of Lion doesn't need to be providing any services at all. Hence, there is really no need to run the firewall. If you are doing something fancy that the application firewall doesn't quite support, then you might want to run the real ipfw firewall instead. It is also installed on the client, but isn't a tool for the great unwashed.
Personally, I find the fancy stuff pretty interesting, but I don't think you are doing that.
We're trying to configure SSL within the Lion clients and didn't know if there was an incoming requirement. There's a bug (logged even by Apple) when Lion client's attempt to bind to an SSL enabled Open Directory server. So the firewall preferences wasn't the reason for this failure. We're resorting to non-SSL binding until Apple fixes the problem, although we running on a private network and can get away with non-SSL for the time being.
You might want to ask about this in the Server forums. This could be a situation where Apple isn't going to bother explaining the details on how to fix it because it would just confuse most people and they may already have it fixed in-house. It has already been discussed and some people say they have fixes. See the details in this thread.

How do I configure a specific port number to the telnet service other than the default port number. I opened /System/Library/LaunchDaemon/telnet.plist with XCode but it won't let me modify the port number. Is there another place / item that I need to go to?

Telnet is obsolete and insecure. Use ssh instead.

So I have a Mac Book Pro with a bootcamp Windows 8. I dual monitor on the Mac side with my Mid 2011 iMac through my mini display port via thunder bolt cable. In my perfect world, I would be able to switch to the Windows side and have the iMac mirror or extend my windows display for my gaming pleasure, etc. I'm not sure if it's just a simple driver or that it cannot be done. How do I ping a specific port (from a specific por...

Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to measure the bandwidth/throughput/travel time/etc of packets from a specific port to a specific port on another network? Ping gives the travel time, but doesn't allow specified ports. Iperf allows you to specify the port you connect to, but not the port you connect from. Wireshark doesn't send packets, though I think it does record traffic by port. Pathping is the same as ping in that it doesn't "do" ports & neither does tracert (and ping/pathping/tracert traffic may well be blocked where normal traffic isn't). So, does anyone have any ideas (or is friendly with their comapny's network admin)?

How to force dg4msql to use a specific port

I've configured an Oracle Database Gateway (Linux RHEL 5) to connect to my SQL Server boxes, but have a host based firewall (on the Linux box) in between them. Sniffing shows that the communication to port 1433 comes from a range of port numbers on the Linux box. Is there a way to force 'dg4msql' to only use a specific port?
Removing the host based firewall is not an option, nor is opening up total communication between the two machines. Hopefully 'dg4msql' can be configured to use a specific port.

It isn't possible to configure the gateway to onlyuse specific ports.
This is not just a gateway issue but the way that SQL*Net works and you should see the same problem connecting from one Oracle database to another through a firewall.
The only workround is to use a firewall which is SQL*Net compliant or a firewall which will limit the number of ports to a certain application.

Password Protect a specific port

I'm familiar with pw protecting a page or directory, but can I do it to a specific port? Say I've got a page at www.myawesomeserver.com:2920, how can I put a pw on that when brought up on a browser?

That all works fine, but found a little glitch. I'm using a 3rd party app to generate a "page" via the port of my choosing, say 2920. I mention "page" like that since physical html is not being generated, the app is simply using that port to display data from it's database. When I use a realm and point to that port, it's being overridden by the apps port privileges, if I change the port on the app or just quit the app, then the realm works fine. Got that?
This is probably an issue with my app and NOT the server. Unless there is a way around this.
