How to choose Photoshop CC 2014 as my default open in Mac 10.10.2?

I've tried right-clicking on a jpeg to make PS CC 2014 the default program for jpegs, but that doesn't seem to be the place to change the default. Anyone?

This is from the post at this site: Re: Adobe CS6 file associations are all messed up
Just change the directory to the correct EXE for cc 2014 and you should be good.

Here is a registy fix for Win7 machines to the file association problem.
This from TinusHDCA user:
I installed Photoshop CS6, then found CS5 was still there. I thought, hey, I don't need CS5 anymore, so I uninstalled CS5. then I found out that Photoshop was no longer available in 'Open with' when right-clicking an image...
So I went into the Registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command, and changed the (Default) from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" (so changed CS5 to CS6) - and now I see 'Adobe Photoshop CS6' in my 'Open with' list when right-clicking an image...

  • How To Uninstall Photoshop CC (2014) from Creative Cloud (not listed in Program and Features)

My membership for Creative Cloud has expired and I want to uninstall Photoshop CC 2014 from my system.
The ONLY Adobe application listed under 'Program and Features' (Windows 8.1) is the Adobe Creative Cloud, however when I uninstall that all the Adobe Photoshop and Bridge system files remain. When double clicking on photoshop.exe (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\photoshop.exe)  I get the Creative Cloud 'Renew your Subscription' screen.  After then rebooting and reinstalling the Creative Cloud Desktop, it shows that Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC (2014), and Bridge CC are installed and are all 'up to date'
I have searched everywhere on my system for photoshop uninstall files without success.
Please advise how to delete/uninstall all applications installed by Adobe Creative Cloud when the applications are not listed in the Control Panel 'Programs and Features'

Thank you for the link. I don't want to sound rude, but I said the programs installed by Creative Cloud Desktop are NOT listed in Windows Control Panel's  'Programs and Features'. The link provided is useless.
The only Adobe software listed under 'Program and Features' ('Add or Remove Programs' for Windows XP users) is the Creative Cloud Desktop program itself and when uninstalling that, it does NOT uninstall Photoshop CC (2014) or Adobe Bridge CC. When selecting uninstall for Creative Cloud, no Change options are provided to remove Photoshop CC. Uninstalling Creative Cloud Desktop leaves all Photoshop and Bridge system files intact.
Again, I want to uninstall Photoshop CC that was installed by Creative Cloud Desktop and is NOT listed under Program and Features.

  • How to add Photoshop CC 2014 to the "Open With" dialog?

    Hi!
As mentioned in my previous dialog. THe new Photoshop CC 2014 does not appear as programm in my Open With dialog, so I tried these steps:
Double click on a NEF or PSD file
Select a program from a list of installed programs
Checked again "Other programs": No Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 at all
    Click on "Browse"
    Select "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Photoshop.exe"
But it is NOT added to the Other Porgrams list, so I'm still not able to open it with Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
Sorry, but that is really annoying now.
Has anybody any idea how I can solve this issue?
I trust the volunteering users here more than Adobe itself. So far I've no good impression since the CC story. Before CC I was never forced to use this forum. Also I got only working solutions by other user almost never by Adobe itself. :-(
    Thanks!

I found at least a workaround in Bridge:
    Open Bridge
Edit -> Preferences -> File associations
Select the file type you need
    Click on "Photoshop"
    Select "Search"
    Select "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Photoshop.exe"
Repeat the steps beginning with 3. for each file type you need
But this only for Bridge itself. I'm still not able to open my file in File Explore. Also I've to do these steps for each file type manually.
But at least it's working now in Bridge, but that is only a workaround, as I changed only some file associations manually. That must not be the solution.
Any idea how to fix this issue?

  • How to change Photoshop CC 2014 Splash Background

I would like to know how to change the start up splash screen background image. The photoshop cc 2014 splash background is huge and distracting like an ad.
    http://i.imgur.com/47tp8ya.jpg

I know of no way to change it.
While you may consider it distracting, it does serve some purpose...  You can know at a glance that you're running the application (and the version of that application) that you should be running.
A workaround is to leave Photoshop running, but minimized.

  • How to install Photoshop CC 2014 (June or August update only)?

My Mac Pro (10.7.5) is absolutely, positively unable to run the October update to Photoshop CC 2014. I've tried everything I can. It totally locks up my computer making it unusable. So….is there a way I can just install the June or August 2014 version? That would be ideal. Sure hope there is a way.

  • How to assign photoshop cc 2014 to open jpg files

I cannot successfully use the file association screens to select PS CC 2014 as the default program. Why will PS CC 2014 fail to assign when I pull it out of the folder?

Windows 7 registry must be set correctly for ley "Photoshop.exec" commands Open and Edit. and Control panel default Programs Associate file extensions must also be set correctly image type file extensions shoild be associated with Photoshop.
On windows you can use Regedit to check the Photoshop.exe key setting. see if open and edit are correctly set. if not fix the settings.
You can use the control panel default Programs file associations to check and set file extensions associations.

  • How to force Photoshop CC 2014 to open files?

When I double click on .jpg, .jpeg, and .psd files, Photoshop 6 opens, not Photoshop CC 2014.
I have Got Info on these files and changed the Open With option to PS CC 2014 and click the Change All box. This always re-sets to PS 6, and will not stick.
Today I downloaded the Default Apps preference pane and tried changing options there, as well. The items always go back to PS 6.
Is there any way to force PS CC 2014 to always open these apps, short of trashing PS 6?

Do you really mean Photoshop 6 or Photoshop CS6? (Not that this should make a difference for the issue at hand.)
    What is your OS version?
Have you tried trouble-shooting it (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, …)?

  • Setting Photoshop CC 2014 as my "Default Program" to open JPEG files in Windows 7

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my Windows 7 computer. I had set Photoshop as my "Default Program" to open up JPEG files. Now whenever I double-click a JPEG file, Photoshop CC will launch instead of Photoshop CC 2014. I have noticed that the executable files for all versions of Photoshop are "Photoshop.exe" (no wonder Windows gets confused). If I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to something like "Photoshop2014.exe" then Windows will let me choose the program as my "Default Program" to open up a JPEG, however this makes it impossible for me to open up files in Lightroom. Lightroom will default back to Photoshop CC.
I have changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 back to "Photoshop.exe" and renamed all the executable files for my legacy versions of Photoshop. This still does not work.
Do I need to make some types of change in the registry?

  • Any ideas why Photoshop CC 2014 is now not opening RAW files from Canon 70D?

I used to be able to open RAW files from my Canon 70D camera, and since I did an update, it will no longer open RAW files from my Canon 70D camera.
I've uninstalled, and re-installed Photoshop CC 2014, and still no luck.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I should check to see if I have the latest version.
You don’t, because 8.0.x is not the latest.
    You need to update ACR.

  • How to get photoshop to go back to default brushes and other kinds of settings?

I was messing around with phothoshop when I first installed, it and when I opened it again, I noticed that it saves what you last did,  with brushes and pens and other things that you probably use a lot. So my question is, how do I get it to go back to the first things that were selected? Does this make any sense?

  • How to downgrade photoshop CC 2014 to photoshop CC

    Hello,
We are using a third party plugin with photoshop that was working with the photoshop CC. Since CC 2014 discontinued the compatibility with flash extension, our plugin doesn't work anymore. We want to install photoshop CC and not CC 2014. How can we achieve that ? Using the CC interface automatically install CC2014 and looking at older version section on the website doesn't give me a version prior to CC2014 to download.
This link Can i downgrade photoshop from CC 2014 to earlier version (CC)? doesn't help as I am trying to install Pshop CC on a new computer.
    Thanks for you help.

  • I can't select Photoshop CC 2014 when using the "Open with" menu in Windows 7

I have recently installed CC 2014, and uninstalled my CC version. When I go to a jpeg, or any image file in windows explorer, I right-click and "open with" and it isn't listed on my program list to open the file with. I click on "browse programs", find the exe file in adobe-photoshop cc2014 folder and click OK, and it just goes back to the open with menu with no option for photoshop.
Any ideas on how I can get it on that list, so I can open these files from the file location, instead of opening up photoshop and then searching for the file location within photoshop?
Also, I don't have any problems opening up the pictures from within photoshop, just within windows explorer.

I'm having a similar problem, but only with jpg's. I have PS CS6, CC, and CC 2014. Other image file formats function normally with regard to the "open with" list. PS CC 2014 appears on the list. But with jpg's only PS CC appears on the "open with" list and 2014 can't be added by the browsing for it.
The curious thing is that if I have any of the three versions of Photoshop open, click on Photoshop CC in the "open with" list, the image opens in whatever version is already open on my computer. This is true of all image formats. No matter which version I pick from the "open with" list it opens in the currently running program. I use only the latest version so keeping it open all the time is an easy work around. I won't uninstall any of the earlier versions lest more file association quirks result. it would be nice to have this matter fixed.
