How to Clean Out Z22?

Hi. I just bought a Centro phone and loaded everything from my Z22 handheld onto it.  Now I'd like to erase all that's mine on the Z22 to give it to my son.  I can't figure out how to do this.  Any suggestions?  (We're synching with a new iMac.)  Thanks.

Hello bernadet92 and welcome to the Palm forums.
You need to hard reset your Z22.  Directions on how to do that can be found here.  The hard reset does not rely on the computer so using a Mac is fine.

  • How to clean out junk on a mac?

I notice a TON of stuff on my mac I have never even seen, and I wanted to know if there was a program to scan your computer for crap and clean it out?
    Thanks

There are many programs that claim the ability to do what you describe, but none of them can do it safely or reliably. They're all junk as shldr2thewheel says.
Ideally, you should know what you're installing before you install it, and know how to remove it as well. Most programs can simply be dragged to the Trash but some (generally, those that require a user name and password to install) require using their accompanying uninstallers to ensure all its remnants are eradicated.
If a program does not modify OS X, or is not configured to launch when you log in, it's just taking up space and can be ignored. Files, folders, music, pictures, and similar work that you create are not programs and can be deleted if you no longer need them. However, if a program installs kernel extensions, "daemons" or other running processes it can have detrimental effects on your Mac's operation.
You can use a little program written by Apple Support Communities contributor Etresoft to create a quick summary of the latter category as well as other system details. It does not delete anything, it merely reports what system modifications are running or installed and can be helpful in determining what may be burdening your system, so that you can decide what to do about such programs rather than delegate that task to some ill-conceived junkware. Read about it and download it here: http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck.
Etrecheck itself is tiny, and when you're finished with it, can be left alone or dragged to the Trash as you wish.

So on  my mac every time i open it, theres a message that pops up saying my start up disk is full so i go to about mac and then click storage, their it says that my 'movies' and 'others' is taking up a hug amount of space so how can i delete these things??

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
              iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside a photo or iTunes library will corrupt the library. Changes to such a library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install the app in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    For ODS:
    security execute-with-privileges /A*/OmniDiskSweeper.app/*/M*/* 2>&-
    For GP:
    security execute-with-privileges /A*/GrandPerspective.app/*/M*/* 2>&-
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password.
The application window will open behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will eventually show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Anyone now how to "clean out" an Audigy2 installatio

After 6 months of not having any consoles (EAX or otherwise) with which to control my 6. speakers, I'm about done. It all started with a simple driver update using the auto web update feature...things have been wrong ever since.
I have tried all the suggestions, "cleansweep", manual deletion, etc. etc. to no avail.
Now I just want every single trace of this Audigy2 and Creative Labs gone from my system and registry.
How does a person do that?

    Heh, heh.
You shouldn't need to go through all that with driver updates. I do need to first run the update setup, reboot, extract the file, install the driver over itself, choosing to replace all previously installed files, with CTZAPP.EXE, reboot, then run the update setup again, reboot. Then I'm done and know it's all installed properly.
    Whew!
They have the Firewire ports as a feature. I don't use anything with Firewire at this point, but supposedly I shouldn't need to install any additional Firewall ports as the soundcard has it. Also, the new breakout box I just got (that updates my Audigy2ZS to a Platinum) has an additional port on the front that connects to the card. So, I now have 2 Firewire ports. I think. Windows Device Manager only shows one and I don't have anything with Firewire to test it with.
You're free to explore different manufacturer's audio cards (barring expense, of course). I also just took out my M-Audio Revolution (formatted and reinstalled since I also bought the new Works Suite 2005 and Quicken 2005-didn't want to change all that and make Windows deal with all the changes) to try out the new Audigy 2 ZS breakout box. I found that with the Revo, I wasn't satisfied with the plain old Microsoft Midi so I needed to install my Yamaha S-YXG50 (XP Version), and I wasn't satisfied with the SRSLabs DSP's so I needed to install my QSound QMaxII. With the Audigy 2 ZS, I get to use my Utopia soundfont for midi, and any DSP adjustment one could possibly want is built right into the Creative software. Instead of the less than adequate SRS handling of my DVD expansion, I can either use SPDIF out with PowerDVD6Deluxe and let the Creative software decode the Dolby Digital, or let PowerDVD handle it (so far, I think the Creative decoder sounds better. PowerDVD has obvious seperation going on. The Creative decoder is smoother. It's personal preference, I guess. I like what CMSS does for my headphone music and what CMSS2 does for the DVD's. Both beat the QSound QMaxII QExpander.
Yeah, M-Audio installs easier. Hours and hours are saved! Purist audiophiles like the M-Audio sound better with music. As far as I'm concerned, unfiltered music, if that's what I'd hear at a concert I'd be asking for my ticket refund! When I adjust using whatever DSP, I'm getting more of what I'd hear if I was sitting in the same room with the musicians. I'm sorry, but what plays from cd's or mp3's (even with really good encoding, which is what I do) needs help. I try listening with all DSP's off (with any soundcard) and I think it sounds like crap. And Creative cards give me zillions of adjustments. I like it.
Edit: Oh yeah. Try not to use any of those auto-updates. Download the thing and run it yourself. It usually works better.Message Edited by Eck on 0-02-2005 2:33 AM
Edit: Well! I just installed the ASIO exe plugin for Winamp. I had tried that with the M-Audio and couldn't get it to work properly (mp3's skipped, sound cut out). I set it to resample to 48, as I know Winamp plays 6bit and, since mp3's are 44, I'd get the 6bit, 48Mhz that Creative ASIO works with. I set it to the Creative ASIO. I turned off CMSS, EAX effects, and made sure the Bass, Treble sliders were at 50. Played music. It seems that unfiltered music is all right after all! I didn't bother with the MAD plugin. That thing hasn't been updated in a long time and I don't see anything wrong with Winamp's default decoder. It uses Lame and that's what my files are encoded with so why fight it's The ASIO sound is surely better than the DirectSound hardware output for mp3's. If I want to hear the DSP's different sounds, they still work.
I just wanted to report this as my post inferred that one needed to use filters and DSP's to be satisfied. I was wrong. (Still like to play with them though. Don't get that with the Revo.)Message Edited by Eck on 0-03-2005 03:3 AMMessage Edited by Eck on 0-03-2005 07:33 AM

  • Trash - how to clean out mail

How do I delete mail off the iTouch?
I went to the trash folder, clicked edit, but then nothing.

I tried that, but I even have "normal" size fingers and nothing happened, hence the post. Tried it again and yes - thanks.
But is there a "delete all" method?
This thing (itouch) is trying to be a PDA and its not.

  • Dust inside New iMac. (How to clean)?

I have a question. I just bought a new imac24, the 1st Apple PC I have ever had. I have been a PC user for 14 years (I do not know if the pc was using me or I was using it?) anyway I was always able to blow out the dust that builds up in my pc by opening the case and using an air can but the imac is sealed. Any ideas how to clean out the dust because after awhile it is bound to get dusty inside.. Thanks

there is no user servicable access. if U do open it you will void the warranty.
But as I live in a very dusty enviorment i did something to take care of the same concern.
I took one of my wife's silk scarves (really fine pattern for venting) and had it sewed into an envelope shape, open on one long side. this I then slip over the top of the iMac to keep out dust. it covers the vents and allows air circulation at the same time. I did check it out to see if my idea was working and it was dirty after about two weeks. washed it out and i feel it is doing what i intended.
I did have to replace my wife's scarf.

  • How do I clean out the "Open With" dialog box when I right click an image?f

    Hi,
When I right-click and image to open it in a program I get a long list of programs to choose from. Many are duplicated or the same program but different version #s like Preview. How do I clean out the dupes and ones I don't want and keep the ones I do?
How would I add CS3's Adobe Camera Raw to the list?

Do a search for details on cleaning up the "open with" dialog, it's been discussed before but I'm sorry I can't remember what the fixes are.
I have duplicate choices too but have never tried to clean them up.
