How to clean print head on HP 8500A in WIN 7

It's becoming obvious that the printheads need a good cleaning. However, can't even get the print quality page to print for diagnotic report. My spouse used to be the pc savy person but health has taken its toll. At one time, I remember going to control panel to get page to print, check on ink levels, clean heads. This must have been in a previous life! or a different pc. I do see the printer but can't get further info on what steps to take when I click on it. Thank you for guiding this senior through the task.

Hi,
Welcome to HP Support Forum.
I am not sure if the printer software is installed on the computer. if installed successfully you would find the printer icon with the name of your printer on the Desktop screen.
If not please download and install the software from the below link :-
HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - A910g Drivers
Step 1:- Open the Printer Software by Double Clicking the Printer icon with your printer name. or Click on Start, Look fir the folder Name HP and then look for folder name with your your printer name, and then click on the printer software which would say Officejet 8500A Plus.
Step 2:- Once you open the printer software you will find the Ink Level on the top click on it.
Step 3:- Then you would have a Tab Name Device Services. When you click on it you will have the option to clean printhead, Align Printhead & Print the Reports that you were lokking for.

  • Stop auto clean print head on hp8500a

My hp8500a printer does an auto clean print head function each time a print page is done. How do I stop this. It takes a lot of time and wates paper and ink.

    Hi @hp8500ahelp,
I read your post and see that the printer is running a printhead cleaning after every print. I would be happy to help you.
Unfortunately you can't turn off this feature. There must be something causing the printer to run the cleaning after every job.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Make sure the correct paper type is selected in the print driver.
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
    What are the ink levels?
Update the printer's firmware. Software and Drivers.
Select Option 2 and wait for the page to load and then select the link for firmware.

  • Cleaning print head HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer support

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with my
    HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer.
I'm using Windows 8 and have topped up the ink levels. The printer is printing with white lines which I understand indicates that the print heads need cleaning.
All the advice I can find online says that to run a print head clean from your computer you need to go the printer in control panel > select printer properties > then click on the 'maintenance' tab.
Using Windows 8 it appears there is no "maintenance" tab and I cant find any option to clean print heads elsewhere on the properties tab!
Not sure where to go from here?
Many thanks for your help in advance.

That is the only way you can clean the ink cartridges. I would recommend contacting HP technical support for further assistance. Click here to find out: HP Worldwide Contact.
    Good luck.

    Hi rgauthi,
I am sorry to say your printer does not have full feature software and drivers. You are using an in-OS driver and HP Solution Center and HP Toolbox are not supported by the in-OS driver. You can use the workarounds in the following link. Learn how to use your HP printer with the new Windows 8 operating system.

    Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problem with my Deskjet 960c and Vista OS.  I really want to know how to clean the ink cartridges by using the Toolbox, which is inaccessible with Vista.  The print quality has not improved with newly store bought HP ink cartridges, so I think they need to be cleaned.  Hopefully someone has a solution to this issue.
    Thank you!

  • How to stop print head cleans?

I have a B110A printer. Each time I install new ink, turn on or wake up the printer from sleep, it spends over 5 minutes doing some sort of set up. Most of all, the installation of new ink gets reduced significantly before I do any printing. This is obviously the print heads working without my permission. Is there any way I can disable this? I only want to run print head cleans when I choose.

    Hi @Doorway,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are wondering if the printhead cleaning can be disabled with your HP Photosmart Wireless B110A printer. I am happy to answer this for you!
Please see this guide, Ink Usage in Inkjet Printers, for more information.
This is a routine function of the printer, in order for the printheads not to be clogged. It cannot be disabled.
Hope this answers your question, and thank you for posting!

  • How to prevent print head clog up and B200 Error ?

I just went through a horrid time getting rid of a B200 error due to the printer head clog up.  I had to soak the head for at least one hour in a solution of warm water  and a bit of oxy clean to get the printer to work again. I almost gave up and was at the point of buying a new printer .
My question is :  How to prevent this from happening again especially during 2 to 3 week vacations when the printer is turned off?
    Tks

    Hi sportflyer,
There isn't a way to prevent a B200 error.  If you do encounter the error again, it is recommended that you contact live technical support . There is NO charge for this call.  Please dial 1-866-261-9362, Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET (excluding holidays).
