How to Clean Unused object in OBIEE RPD.

Hi Gurus,
Kindly let me How to remove unused objects like subject areas , Initialization blocks etc in OBIEE RPD.
Plz suggest me.we are using OBIEE 10g .If i use Utilities option to remove unused objects will other objects have any impact?Can i use this Utilities Option?
Please any one help me i need do it as soon as possible.Project is in Production.

Checked with Oracle Support team and confirmed below points
--> incorporated into the Current product and consider as BUG it may resolve future release
--> Currently there isnt any automatic method to remove the unused objects like reports, filters,folder etc from catalog.

How to find unused objects in SAP BI system?

Hello All,
I have got a requirement- you can say optimization programme in BW system.
For that i have to first find the list of unused obects-DSO's, IC, etc.
We have RSDODSO, RSDCUBE tables, but not sure how to use them- by looking at latest data loads/ time stamp.
If you have any suggestions on this .Please revert me back.

HI Kumar,
For cubes: Goto se11 and use table RSMDATASTATE and check the value of the field LAST_CHANGE this is the date on which last time data is loaded in cube.
Check RSMO & find which all data loads are happening daily...weekly...montly

How to merge the objects of one rpd into another rpd in OBIEE.

Hi to all,
I am new user to OBIEE. I was given a task to merge two repositories. I tried a lot but couldn't do it. I went through many forums and discussions to find the relevant answer but couldn't find anything. Actually my requirement is to merge two repositories. For example, consider two repositories namely rpd1 and rpd2 respectively. Both repositories has their own set of objects. I just want all the objects of rpd2 to merge with rpd1 under the name rpd1. Is it possible? If it is possible... Please anyone let me know the steps to do it.

How to do Performance tunning in OBIEE RPD level

Hi All,
We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.4 version on Windows envorinment, currently we are facing performance issues for my reports.For fetching one month data its taking around 9 mins ..so we are planning ,how to reduce these response time .Could you pls suggest me what are possiable ways to do performance improvement in OBIEE level..Here for each day we are gettng around 5 lacks feed into our DB.

first thing is to check the same query int he data base and see the response time. if this is taking the same amount of time as the obiee reporting tool, then that matters to think with dba to create some materiazlied views on the top of the transactional data and maintain the aggreated data.

How to Invoke data objects in OBIEE

for e.g i have a report where in one column i want to invoke a function by passing some arguments at run time
and based on that a calculation will be done and a value will be returened from the function.
and that value will be displayed in the column.

Use Evaluate function to call a user defined function/your function. for example, within Answers column, you can make a call like this:
EVALUATE('schema_name.myfunction(%1,%2)' as integer, table_name.column_name, table_name.column_name)
where myfunction is a function that takes two arguments and is defined in the db and returns an integer value. Replace schema_name as appropriate.

There is a known bug with EVALUATE when returning numbers. When I has the same problem Oracle Metalink has adviced to use CAST on the end result of the EVALUATE and return it as a FLOAT datatype.
CAST(EVALUATE('my_function(%1)', logical_table.ROWID) AS FLOAT)

I don't have any documentation link , we need to design rpd based on BO Universe and BO reports functionality.
first observe what are the physical tables used in universe those physical tables improted into physical layer of obiee rpd give physical joins. In BMM layer design hierarchies, calculations and outerjoins all these things done in BMM layer thats it.

Unused Objects Content Report runs forever

Dear Portal Gurus
we have a lot of content in our portal (thousands of objects created by us)
The main part is from uploading the ERP Roles into the portal.
Our guess is, that quite a bit is not used at all.
It seems that the two "Unused Objects" reports in the support platform are a good starting point for cleaning up.
When i run the Unused Objects - not assigned to Roles report on one server node, it takes forever (is running more than 24 hours)
Does anybody else have this problem too?
Is there a way to get a result anyway?
I ran the Broken Delta Links Detector before, which runs successfully - even though not very fast. So these reports run in general.
We have NW 7.0 SPS 14.

Personalization is mainly disabled in our portal.
In general the deltalinks were used correctly i think.
Of course broken delatalinks should not exist, but they get created by deleting objects not by creating deltalinks.
I'll try it with a call.

I would like to invoke the same functionality as in Flex
Builder Project -> clean... -> clean all projects...
but from command line is it possible ?

You can:
1) Perform a project clean up (p.153 of the user manual) - it removes any unused recordings, samples and other files
2) Consolidate project (p. 154 of manual) - this copies all the used audio material into the project folder and also deletes any empty folders within project folder, making it easier to navigate
3) Save project as a copy - this creates another project folder, but without all the backups and other additional files

Database refresh from production to test -how to clean existing test env

All,
My environment is
Both Production and Test databases are in two node RAC environment
Oracle version - 10.2.0.4.0
OS - RHEL5
Production database size 80GB
We need to refresh the test environment from production database. Complete objects, data etc should be refreshed.
We have a datapump export from production environment. With this export dump from production environment, I need to import into test environment.
So far, I have imported with this kind of dump to the fresh database only.
Now, we have already objects, data sitting in the test environment. How to clean the existing test environment and refresh the production datapump export dump.
I thought of dropping all the tablespaces in test (other than system,sysaux, undo and temp). But not able to drop few tablespaces, it is telling that index is available in other tablespaces, dependency errors etc.
Which is the best method to clean the existing test database. Management is not interested in dropping the test database and recreating it.

I understand that you are Newbie , let give me simple steps.
Follow the steps on testing envi.
1. Drop only Application users that you want to refresh from Prod(Do NOT drop users system,sysaux.. or tablespaces)
2. Create the users that you dropped.
3. using import or import data pump import the data.
In case you want to import user"A" data to "B" use REMAP_SCHEMA option.

How to deploy olap object to BIEE

hello everybody,
I had build a project use OWB,but I dont know how to deploy this object to BIEE. I only select which table or view in build the BIEE and must setup the dimension which had been setup in OWB. Could I get the dimension information to the BIEE and dont not build it again in the BIEE.
Could you give me some good advice.

OWB 10g and 11gR1 only deploy to OBISE (Discoverer), the OBIEE deployment directly from OWB is in the OWB 11gR2 release. You will have to build this model in OBIEE.

Is it necessary to null any unused objects?

Hi folks,
I have heard people said to null and not to null the unused objects both. To be honest, I really notice nulling the objects will help to reclaim the memory from the unused objects. Please tell me if I am doing it wrong, thanks!

How do you know that it makes a difference in your programs? What measurements have you made?
There are some situations when you need to set references to null but they are few and far between. Just make the scope of a reference as small as possible.
