How to cleaning old files hidding?

My files not need and hidding on my OS Mac 10.6.7 .
My friend told me about Mackeeper. I say no way.
I just want to learn about utilities for cleaning old files on my programs that I not need.
Does Macbook Air have automatic unused files and ask me to clean up?

CleanMyMac gets the job done - removing e.g. cashed files and systemfiles. Have been using it for weeks and works like a charm - no files missing.

  • MS Word 2004 Macro viruses - how do I clean old files?

    Hi,
We just got a new iMac and it's running Leopard. MS Office 2004 is installed and I transferred files from my old blueberry iMac about a week ago. Ever since, when I open a Word document from the old computer it asks if I would like to enable macros. If I disable, then the file opens as "read only." These are simple Word documents, though... I didn't put any macros in.
I suspect I have a macro virus on the files and now it's infiltrated my new computer. My university provides a copy of McAfee Virus Scan 8.5i but it won't launch.
What do I have to do to clean my new computer and these files? Once upon a time, during OS 10.3 or so, I had a similar problem but I ended up wiping the hard drive clean. I need these old files, though.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to clean old Earlywatch reports in Solution Manager

    Hi,
We are using SOLMAN 7.0 for EarlyWatch alerts, everything is fine and EarlyWatch is generating Reports weekly. Now i had a concern on how to clean these Early Watch reports once they are like month old, Does SAP Standard Jobs take care of this or do we need to schedule any job that removes EarlyWatch alerts older than certain period.
    Thanks

    Yes there is....
In transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER, click onto the EarlyWatch Alert tab -> next to the create button there is a button that say DELETE. If you click onto that it will bring up all of your sessions which you can select to delete.
    Hope this helps!

  • HOW TO GET OLD FILES FROM HARD DRIVE? HELP!!!!

hello. so i changed my 320gb HD to a 1.5tb! its running good. the reason why i changed it was because it went white with a folder that had a question mark blinking! so i inserted the disk that came with it and it wouldnt come up on "select a destination" and when i would go to disk utility, it would only show "Media" (which i believe was suppose to be my hard drive), Pioneer CD-RW, and the Installation Disk. so i decided to buy a new and bigger HD and did a partition (dont what that means but it worked) and installed Leopard. now its working good. i just need help on how to get my old files from this old HD i have in hand (the 320gb). like what do i use? can i put it in a PC? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

If the old drive is not accessible then, no, you will not be able to access all your files on it. In this case you may need to look at the following:
    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten with recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • How to clean old & start a new project?

What do I do if I don't want to archive anything but ONLY to clean the old finished project completely... (my very first BTW) and to start a next one?
What do I delete from my Mac's drive and my external Scratch disc? And how do I start the second project?

You would trash the FILES in your Final Cut Express Documents folder and the FILES in the child folders under it, in particular the files in the Capture Scratch folder, Autosave Folder and Render Files folder.
(You could delete the entire Final Cut Express Documents folder if you want to, FCE will just rebuild empty folders next time you run it, bit I think it's worth the extra caution of selecting & deleting just the files.)
Assuming you set your FCE capture scratch drive preference to your external HD before you started your project, then that's the only place you need to look for a Final Cut Express Documents folder. There's nothing you need to delete from your system HD unless you specifically saved something there that you don't want to keep.
You should also look for the Quicktime movies you exported from FCE as well as any iDVD projects you created with them, wherever you saved them on your HD. And any other source material that you want to delete, like audio files or photos, wherever they are on your HD.

  • IPhoto made a huge mess, how to clean up files on HD???

I have thousands of photos in iPhoto v6.0.6, and it has somehow made a huge frustrating mess of things. Some preliminary information:
    • My preference is set to "Copy photos to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library."
    • Under the main "Library" heading, I have five categories with the little yellow calendar icon: "Early Photos," "2007," "2008," "2009," "2010." I am under the impression that when adding/removing photos to an album, I am simply creating/removing links to the photos within these main categories. Therefore, I was assuming that if I delete the photos from these categories, they will disappear for good within the main Libraries as well as within individual Albums.
Earlier this evening I attempted to delete a bunch of photos which I don't want anymore... I want to get rid of these photos in iPhoto, but I would like to delete them from the hard drive as well. I went into each of the 5 categories under the main Library heading, and selected hundreds of photos to delete. After highlighting the photos I wanted to delete, I pressed Command-Delete on my keyboard (which, in the Photo menu, says it should move the photos to the trash). I assumed this meant it would move the physical files to the Finder's Trash. After deleting photos from the individual categories, I went into my Finder's Trash, and there was nothing there. So I noticed there is also a "Trash" section at the bottom of the left-hand pane within iPhoto (very confusing). All of my deleted photos were in there. So I selected them again, and pressed Command-Delete. All photos disappeared without a trace within iPhoto.
So far, so good.... My HUGE problem is that none of these photos were actually deleted from the hard drive!! I went into my home folder/Pictures/iPhoto Library/etc/etc/Camera Roll #x, and ALL of the photos I attempted to delete still reside on my hard drive as if they're still being managed by iPhoto!
I'll be honest... I have plenty of time to manually go through dozens of folders in the Finder and look for all of these photos a second time and delete them. However I'm simply not willing to waste time doing that when I thought I had already accomplished that task by selected "Move To Trash" from within iPhoto, and then emptying the trash. I'll just ditch iPhoto altogether if I can't fix this.
My questions: a) How can I get iPhoto to actually delete a photo when I tell it to (including thumbnails)? b) How can I clean up my hard drive automatically so that the only photos within the iPhoto Library folder (in the Finder) are those which still reside within iPhoto? c) How do I prevent this mess from happening again? d) If anyone from Apple is monitoring this forum, when will this major flaw in the user experience be fixed?

1 - it is a really good idea to post in the appropriate forum - you apparently posted an iPhoto 6 question in the iPhoto '09 forum - in this case the answer is the same for the questions you ask
    a) How can I get iPhoto to actually delete a photo when I tell it to (including thumbnails)?
Select the photo(s) in roll view and drag to the iPhoto trash or press the delete key - empty the iPhoto trash from the iPhoto menu ==> empty trash - do this in batches of 100 or less photos
    b) How can I clean up my hard drive automatically so that the only photos within the iPhoto Library folder (in the Finder) are those which still reside within iPhoto?
I'm not sure what happened and no longer have iPhoto 6 to test - one thing to try is backing up your library and rebuilding the library (depress the option and command keys and launch iPhoto)
    c) How do I prevent this mess from happening again?
Delete as above in answer to a)
    d) If anyone from Apple is monitoring this forum, when will this major flaw in the user experience be fixed?
SInce this is strictly a user to user forum and Apple specifically does not monitor nor answer here do not expect an answer from Apple
Also NEVER use the finder to make any changes to the contents or structure of the iPhoto library - doing so may corrupt your library and cause data loss

  • E72: How to clean up files downloaded during insta...

    Hello,
I upgraded quick office to ver 6 and noticed that phone memory has reduced by a big margin. From 190 MB to 177MB. Is there a way to clean up unwanted files from C: drive of the phone ? Are there are any apps that can do this clean up ?
    Thanks

The new version of QuickOffice needs to be installed somewhere, and that's on your C: drive, so it's normal that you lose a few megabytes.
Please note that the original version of QuickOffice comes in the firmware (ROM), so the only way to update it without losing C: space would be if this is upgraded in the firmware (by Nokia).

    Hi,
You can only recover files/data have not be overwritten. Normally you have to pay for a software such as Getdata or service to recover data/files but there are some free products:

    Good luck.

  • How to open old files?

I am very disturbed to find that the latest version of Keynote (6.1) cannot open older (pre-Keynote 09) files. I tried to install Keynote 9 on my MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.9.2, but it doesn't launch. I can't be the only person with this problem! What's the answer? Surely I don't have to open hundreds of talks on an older machine with a pre-Mavericks OS, convert them to Keynote 9 format, and then bring them back here so that Keynote 6.1 can now open (and save) them - or do I? Is there some way of installing Keynote 09 under Mac )S X 10.9.2 so that it still works?

The iWorks 09 applications are compatible with Mavericks.
You must instal the applications properly, not just copying the file from the Applications folder of another Mac as that wont work?

  • Select old files in automator workflow

I am new to automator and wanted to create a simple workflow that would delete old files (4 weeks old) in my downloads directory, but I can not see how to select old files using the find files action? Is this possible? I tried to use the before selector but it only seems to let you use a hardcoded date, can you paramertise it? (Appreciate I can do this by running a script and using something like the find command but wanted to see if this is possible in automator?)
    thanks
    Andy

I just tested the following workflow and I think it gets where you want to go. Open Automator and click on the Files and Folders section of the Library. I used the following actions:Find Finder Items
and Delete Files. Drop them into Automator in that order.
Configure the Find Finder Items Action using the drop down menus. Set "Where" to the location of your Downloads folder. Set whose so that "Date Modified" is "This Month" In the Delete Files action decide whether you want a confirmation dialog to appear.
I recommend testing it in Automator without the Dele action in place until you are sure the parameters are only deleting files you want to get rid of. (Look at the results section of the first action for the names of the files it finds). After the delete action is in place this workflow can be saved as as application or as a plug in for either iCal or Finder. As Part of iCal it could easily be set to run on a specific day each month.
use at your own risk. this has had limited testing.
