How to cleanly deinstall oracle clusterware?

Hi, friends:
when I am trying to install Oracle clusterware in two nodes, on the last step (when SA run root.sh on the second node (node2), we failed for some reason. now we want to deinstall Oracle clusterware for another reinstallation.
What I do is from the first node (node1) on which I am installing Oracle clusterware, I use OUI to remove the installed CRS_home for both nodes, during that process, I got an error message like:
could not remove listed directory based on '/tmp/OraInstall 2007-06-14_01_39_36 PM/installRemoveDirFile.lst' from nodes ' node2_name' [PRICC-1002: All the submitted commands did not execute successfully]
Node2_name:
/bin/rm: cannot remove '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/bin/racgons' permission denied.
/bin/rm: cannot remove '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/bin/cemutls' permission
denied.
then I select 'not to continue' to exit OUI, after that, I checked that I can not find CRS_Home from node1 in OUI, that means I can not use OUI for a clean deinstallation.
I want an clean deinstallation of oracle clusterware on both nodes, that is my purpose,
I hope any friends can give me some instructions to achive that goal?
(they are brand-new servers, no other things installed, so can I just rm everything under /u01/app/oracle??? )
Thank you very much!

Now that you don't see CRS home at all, then there is no question of clean de-install as you will not be able to invoke OUI at all.
Just delete all the files under the ORACLE folder on both the nodes.
There might have been some entries in the system related folders. Not sure though becuase on windows it makes such entries under system folder.

  • How to completely deinstall Oracle AS????

    I am stuck. Using linux.
    I have tried to run all the universal installers I can find. and I have manually removed the OracleAS dirs. However, when I start up the installer for OracleAS 10.1.3.1, it still shows that some instance of oracleas1 is lingering around. i have grepped every directory I can think of to try to find where this is coming from, but I can't find it.
    Please, how can I manually deinstall all traces of oracleAS from my linux system? Where are the secret config files?

    Yea, I went through the oraInventory dir and looked for anything like that, but I couldn't find it. I don't want to nuke them completely because I have an existing Oracle11g DB server installed that is in that inventory and I don't want to mess that up.
    I looked through the ContentsXML dir and deleted everything except the OracleDB, but still Oracleas will not install. It gives me an error that it is already installed in the oracle_home chosen. But there is nothing physically there...

  • After running rootdeinstall.sh, I want to reinstall Oracle Clusterware

    Hi,
    I have cleaned up oracle Clusterware installation because root.sh scrip did not work properly. I have run rootdeinstall.sh and rootdelete.sh
    Now I would like to reinstall the clusterware. But I get following errors:
    The installer has detected the existence of 10 oracle clusterware on the remote node, however 10g oracle clusterware does not exist on the local node. How can I reinstall the clusterware and by pass this error message?
    I went through all installation process one by one and still I get this error message. The installation goes well until the Cluster configuration section when I add second cluster node in the specify cluster configuration section then I get this error.
    Thank You

    hi
    Please read this quite good note from metalink.
    Doc ID:      Note:239998.1
    Subject:      How to Clean Up After a Failed Oracle Clusterware (CRS) Installation
    The response on your question is
    1. Run the rootdelete.sh script then the rootdeinstall.sh script from the
    $ORA_CRS_HOME/install directory on any nodes you are removing CRS from. Running
    these scripts should be sufficent to clean up your CRS install. Rootdelete.sh
    accepts options like nosharedvar/sharedvar, and nosharedhome/sharedhome. Make
    yourself familiar with these options by reading the Oracle Clusterware and
    Oracle Real Application Clusters Administration and Deployment Guide.
    If you have any problems with these scripts please open a service request.
    Let me know if you need some more information .
    Looking forward to your green or yellow star to say if the answer provided is correct.
    Thanks

    Dear Pro.
    I wondered how to deinstall Oracle Developer 6.0 from Windows 2000. although i tried using Developer 6.0 CD to deinstalled the products, but after i clicked the remove button. whole windows is gone. using Oracle 8 CD doesn't work too.
    could i just delete the folder which contains developer 6.0, will it work? should i change some path or some data in the configuration file?
    thank you for reading the questions.

    IMO there is just one way that works:
    - first step: look for running forms services (forms server or more), stop them
    - second step: go to the registry, erase the whole key: hkey_local_machine/software/oracle
    -delete the whole directory with forms.
    Its brute force, I know; but it works within 5 minutes!!

    Oracle does a notoriously bad job of deinstalling and cleaning up. For windows I do the following
    - Run th OUI and let it do as much as it does to uninstall.
    - Delete the registry key HKLM/software/oracle
    - restart the machine
    - delete the oracle_home directory, and any parents as seems appropriate
    - delete teh 'program files\oracle' directory

  • Installing RAC Problem: Oracle Clusterware 10g is present on remote node

    Folks,
    Hello.
    I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 whose OS are Oracle Linux 5.6) in VMPlayer.
    I have been installing Grid Infrastructure using runInstaller in the first VM rac1 from step 1 to step 9 of 10.
    On the step 9 of 10 in the Wizard, accidentally, I touch the Mouse, and the Wizard is gone.
    The directory for installing Grid in the 2 VMs is the same: /u01
    In order to make sure everything is correct, I delete entire directory /u01 in the 2 VMs and install Grid in rac1 again.
    But get the error message as follows:
    [INS-40915] The Installer has detected the presence of Oracle Clusterware 10g on the remote node rac2.localdomain.
    Cause: Oracle Clusterware 10g is present on remote node rac2.localdomain but not on the local node.
    Action: To upgrade the Oracle Clusterware 10g Installation to this release, run Installer on a node where Oracle Clusterware 10 installation is located. To create a new cluster, choose a set of nodes that are not part of an existing cluster.
    Regarding the above error message, I do not install any Oracle Clusterware 10g in rac2 because it's the first time when I install Grid using rac1 and rac2.
    My question is:
    Do any folk understand how to remove something in rac2 to solve the above issue so that I can install Grid again ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
    Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.
    The tutorial http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e22489/rem_orcl.htm#CBHEFHAC is about the regular procedure to deinstall Grid Clusterware and Database.
    I have just installed Grid and have not installed the Database. I have removed ORACLE HOME /u01 completely in both VMs. There is no way to follow the regular procedure to deinstall at this time.
    I do not install any Oracle Clusterware 10g in the VM rac2 because it's the first time when I install Grid using VM rac1 and rac2.
    When install Grid again. I get the error message:
    "[INS-40915] The Installer has detected the presence of Oracle Clusterware 10g on the remote node rac2.localdomain."
    This is strange! It seems that we need to remove some files in the VM rac2 like /etc/oracle that I am not sure.
    My questions are:
    First, where is 10g directory to remove ?
    Second, what files left on the system to clean up ?
    Third, what does " Follow 239998.1" means regarding asanqa's replying to me ?
    Thanks.

    Hi All,
    I have began the procedure for upgrading Oracle Clusterware to 11g. However, during the install OUI was giving me certain error messages like it couldn't transfer the OUI installlogs to node 2. I am thinking that all of this is caused by the various issues I had with the install. If I am incorrect, then please let me know. If it is true, I would like to know if there are any 11g docs on how to clean up a failed clusterware upgrade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on any of the situations I am having.
    Thank you

    Hi Chandra,
    Did CVU report any problems before the upgrade?No, there were no errors reported by CVU before the upgrade.
    I don't there is note out there for cleaning 11g CRS
    install...and I think can very use the 10g CRS note -
    239998.1.Yeah I might have to go that way.
    I have both the 11g CRS install and upgrade from 10g
    to 11CRS at
    http://chandradba.blogspot.com/2007/08/oracle-11g-rac-
    install-on-red-hat-50.html
    and
    http://chandradba.blogspot.com/2008/02/oracle-10g-crs-
    upgrade-to-11g-crs.html
    see if it helps.Yup, your guide is very simple, clear and error proof :) That's how mine when pretty much except right around 75% I started getting these strange errors of files not being able to be transferred to node 2. Anyways, it shouldn't be a problem as none of those errors were configuration related...or else I would have a messed up cluster.
    Well, I actually rebooted both machines and now the whole CRS stack is up!! So I guess I am ok. We'll just have to wait and see.
    Thanks for your help Chandra...I always appreciate it.

    Hi
    the verification utility assumes that networks 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x are private always. If you have your public interfaces running on 10.x.x.x and your private network on 192.168.x.x then the verification utility assumes you do not have any candidate network interface for the public.
    You may proceed in the installation, however after you install the Clusterware , the VIP configuartion assistant may fail, but after the installation , login as "root" and run:
    # $CRS_HOME/bin/vipca
    and choose the public interfaces.

  • How to upgrade the Oracle Client silently ?

    Hi all,
    I have to upgrade the Oracle Client from 8.1.6.0.0 to 9.2.0.1.0.
    I use the -record option for creating the destination file or edit the response file manually for being able to install the new client. But I have no idea, how to remove the old client.
    The following command doesn't work:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install\setup.exe" -deinstall DEINSTALL_LIST={"oracle.client","8.1.6.0.0"}
    What am I doing wrong? How to remove the Oracle Client silently?
    Thanks for the help and best wishes from Frankfurt.
    Dimitri

    I created a instant client silent DE-INSTALL for version 10.1.0.2 on XP.
    setup.exe -silent -deinstall -responseFile Z:\yyyyyy\xxxxxx.rsp
    These are parameters are in my response file...
    ORACLE_HOME="C:\oracle\InstantClient\10.1.0"
    ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraInstantClient10g_home1"
    TOPLEVEL_COMPONENT={"oracle.client","10.1.0.2.0"}
    DEINSTALL_LIST={"oracle.client","10.1.0.2.0"}
    SHOW_SPLASH_SCREEN=false
    SHOW_WELCOME_PAGE=false
    SHOW_END_SESSION_PAGE=false
    SHOW_EXIT_CONFIRMATION=false
    SHOW_DEINSTALL_CONFIRMATION=false
    SHOW_DEINSTALL_PROGRESS=true
    REMOVE_HOMES={"c:\oracle\ora81","c:\oracle\InstantClient\10.1.0"}
    You still have to manually update/remove the PATH & TNS_ADMIN environment variables and the file system directories.

  • New Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management

    Hi all,
    please, note the newly created Metalink Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management if you want to use Oracle Clusterware as a general purpose cluster solution. The note intends to clarify and to explain the current situation in regards to the supportability of applications managed by Oracle Clusterware.
    In environments not including Oracle RAC, Oracle Clusterware still provides the level of high availability that is commonly known to be achievable for applications and databases managed in (failover) cluster environments. These environments can include Oracle Single Instance Databases, Oracle Application Servers, Oracle Enterprise Manager components, third party databases, or any other kind of application. (For more information on Oracle Clusterware 11g in general, please, refer to [Oracle Clusterware homepage|http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware].)
    Metalink Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management is tightly integrated with the information on application failover management available on the [Oracle Clusterware homepage|http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware] and discusses typical questions like
    * Terminology
    * Script supportability and preconfigured agents
    * How to prove that action scripts work outside of Oracle Clusterware
    * Supportability of the Oracle Database Single Instance example scripts
    * How do I know whether a certain script is supported as a preconfigured agent?
    Metalink Note 790189.1, however, does not change the level of support that has been introduced for these kind of configurations as of Oracle Database 10g Release 2: "Generally, Oracle does not support action scripts in the strict terms of supporting individual code fragments. Oracle fully supports the integration of individual action scripts proven to run outside of Oracle Clusterware into the Oracle Clusterware management stack. Supported operations therefore typically involve crs_* commands such as crs_profile, crs_register, crs_setperm, crs_getperm, crs_start, crs_stop, and crs_relocate invoked on custom resources. If actions scripts are used as part of a preconfigured agent, Oracle or the application provider who provides the agent will support the integration of this agent, while only the application provider will provide support for the individual action scripts."
    Just for your information. Thanks,
    Markus
