How to clear out all contacts

My iPod has accumulated lots of entrees that have been auto-created by flaws in the iMac address book. The iMac Address Book has since been cleaned out. Now I need to trash all entrees in the iPad so I can sync it to the good iMac Address book. is there a way?

iTunes 10.2.2 Info shows one button 'All contacts'. Others to sync Yahoo or Google. Nothing labeled 'replace'.

The iMac Address Book has since been cleaned out.
Is your computer set to sync contacts with MobileMe? It should be.
If so the contacts should have been changed on the iPad when you changed them on the computer.
With MobileMe, changes on any device sync'd to MobileMe, will change the data on all other devices sync'd to MobileMe.
Make sure your computer is set to sync contacts to MobileMe.

That pop-up occurs whenever you cannot immediately get a good connections to the Mail Server. If it is down, or is slow, or the connection is not so good today. Your Mac cannot see the fine distinction, it just asks for the one thing it knows -- no answer from the Server -- maybe the password is wrong.
Your best bet when that happens is to hit cancel -- and take that account Online again later. At some point make sure the

From there you can turn off Phone Favorites and/or Recents

If your fonts are changing when viewed on other computers - epecially those running windows - you need to look at using web-safe fonts...

just do a reset, you lose no data.
hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release.

How to clear out Launchpad in Mavericks?

Does anyone know how to clear out and remove all the app icons from Launchpad in Mavericks?
Used to be able to use this code in terminal to clear it out:
sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db "DELETE from apps; DELETE from groups WHERE title<>''; DELETE from items WHERE rowid>2;"; killall Dock
But it doesn't work anymore in Mavericks. Any ideas?
I don't want to actually delete anything, just remove all the icons from Launchpad because I never use Launchpad and it's annoying.

It's a good idea to backup your Mac Address Book application and iCal Calendars application from each application. This way you can go back and pull out items if you lose something. I do this everyday.

There are two ways you could do this.
1. Go to settings>general>reset then select the option "erase all content and settings"

Connect the iPod to your computer. Click on the iPod under Devices and iTunes. How large is the "other" category as shown in the colored bargraph? If larger than about 3/4 GB, restore the iPod. That large of "other" indicates corrupted files.

Hi Cynthia! If you are syncing from something like Gmail you can go into the iPhones Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn off contacts. It will ask you if you want to delete them from your phone - just click delete. Exit Settings and turn phone off by power button (not all the way OFF). Then re-open Settings>mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn Contacts back on - This is where you need to be careful - When you turn contacts back on you will be prompted to delete or save the contacts already on your phone. CLICK DELETE. You should now have only your synced contacts on your phone! Hope it helps!

Is there a particular reason why you want to delete the contacts all at once? The only way you can delete all the contacts all one time would be to wipe the device. This will complete erase all data on the phone including the contacts.
You want to make sure you backup your device uisng the desktop manager. Once you perform the wipe you can then backup your contacts using the desktop manager and just make sure to uncheck the Contacts when backing up so they are not added back to your phone.

Go to SE38 and give ZX* and press F4.
Have a look at table MODATTR to find the active projects in your system.

Someone said create a new empty folder on the computer and sync to that -- didn't work .
Another person said, "Reset information in settings to restore to the default." That would erase ALL of the conetent I have on the phone and I do not want to erase all of the other settings and content from my iPhone -- just the contacts.
There has to be a better way than gong through and deleting one-by-one.

Go into Settings...Mail, Calendar and Contacts and siwtch off the Contacts section from the account in question.
The phone should ask you if you want to keep or erase the contacts stored on you phone.
However, if they aren't synched to anything and only exist on your iPhone, you'll have to delete them all one by one
