How to clone recovery partition to SSD so F11 works with new SSD?
I received my new Envy 15 Laptop today. It has a 1Tb 5400rpm hard drive but I want to replace with SSD. I tried cloning it to a 300Gb SSD drive. I used "EaseUS Todo Backup Free".
The laptop boots up to Windows 8.1 successfully on the new cloned SSD , but when I press F11 key during bootup to load the recovery partition it errors out. If I swap back to the 1TB 5400rpm original drive, the F11 key bootup recovery works.

How to get the Personas Rotator add-on to work with new Firefox themes?
Before Firefox changed from personas to themes, the Personas Rotator add-on automatically switched personas at a set interval (ie. every 1 minute). I presently have Firefox 12.0 installed as well as the latest versions of both Personas Plus and Personas Rotator but the rotator does not work.
Before it was necessary to sign into My Favorites for the add-on to rotate my favorite personas, but now when I sign in, there is no rotation. Only one persona/theme that is enabled stays on the screen. There is no automatic rotation.
Private browsing mode is not selected. How can I get Personas Rotator to work again? Thank you.Good news! The Personas Rotator is now working again and switching personas automatically at 1 minute intervals.
It began working again after I went to the 'Appearance' tab under 'Add-ons' and removed all the personas listed there (these are ones I 'Added to Firefox' from My Favorites list which is accessed after signing in to the gallery).
But now I see that the personas that are presently being rotated are appearing in the 'Appearance' tab as well. I wonder if it will be necessary to 'remove' all these later to have them rotate again. Will post an update later for anyone having this same problem. -
How to create recovery partition in new(changed) HDD.
my new HP pavilion g4 laptop HDD have crased, then I replce it by HP care. I upload original win 7 by recovery disk(DVD) but when I open my computer it shows only one partition (C drive, there is no recovery partition and HP tool.

Right-click the start orb, and start 'Disk Management'.
Shrink the C: drive by let's say 20-30GB.
Then create a new Partition and assign the R: label to it and name it RECOVERY.
Then open command prompt as administrator and type: 'recimg /createimage <directory>',
In this case: 'recimg /createimage R:\' to save it on the new partition.
This step may consume a lot of time.
Now we need to register the newly created recovery image: 'recimg /setcurrent <directory>'
'recimg /setcurrent R:\'
Voila you are done.
Restoring from recovery partition
You may want to use this restoring method by default, because it is the easiest way to do so if your recovery partition is still intact. If not, look at the other recovery methods to see which suits you best. This is usually the way you reset or refresh your Windows installation if you purchase a computer from a brand like Lenovo instead of building one yourself
Press the Windows-key + C to open the charms bar or swipe in from the right.
Click Settings.
Click Change PC Settings.
Click Update & Recovery in the menu on the left.
Click Recovery.
If all your documents are safe and sound in your user folder, you can use Refresh your PC without affecting files. However I still recommend taking a back-up... If you want to do a complete reinstallation of Windows and also clean your user folder in the process then choose Remove everything and reinstall Windows. -

I recently update my MBP from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3. I also use BootCamp to Windows 7. When starting the MBP with holding alt/option button, it says that the recovery partition is still in 10.8.2. How can I update the recovery to 10.8.3?

When using the Recovery partition to Reinstall OS X (for your new Mac), you will get the version of OS X that shipped with your Mac (unless Apple updates that version on their servers). So, for example, let's say your Mac shipped with 10.8.2 (Recovery partiton also that version) and you update OS X to 10.8.3 from Software Updates. When you restart into the Recovery partition using the Command+R keys and you want to Reinstall OS X, you will get what ever version is out there for your Mac model which might be 10.8.2. So, the version of the Recovery partition has no bearing on what version of OS X will download. Lion (10.7.x) was the same way until version 10.7.2. When updating Lion 10.7 or 10.7.1 to 10.7.2, there was also an update for the Recovery partition. To my knowledge there haven't been any Mountain Lion updates like that. The full installer will always write a Recovery partition and the version number will be the same as the OS X version. However, Software Update will not update the Recovery partition.
The functions of the Recovery partition are many. When you boot into it you see the OS X Utilities menu. From there you can Reinstall OS X, use Disk Utility to manage your drives, Restore from a Time Machine backup, use Terminal (from the Utilities menu bar option) to do command line commands, change your Startup Disk and other functions. -

I'm getting the following error message when attempting to invoke "Find My Mac"
Some configurations such as a software or hardware RAID do not support a recovery partition and can't be used with Find My Mac.You have no recovery partition. This is a normal condition if your boot volume is a software RAID, or if you modified the partition table after running Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition. Otherwise, you need to reinstall OS X in order to add a recovery partition.
If you don't have a current backup, you need to back up before you do anything else.
You have several options for reinstalling.
1. If you have access to a local, unencrypted Time Machine backup volume, and if that volume has a backup of a Mac (not necessarily this one) that was running the same major version of OS X and did have a Recovery partition, then you can boot from the Time Machine volume into Recovery by holding down the option key at the startup chime. Encrypted Time Machine volumes are not bootable, nor are network backups.
2. If your Mac shipped with OS X 10.7 or later preinstalled, or if it's one of the computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery, you may be able to netboot from an Apple server by holding down the key combination option-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
3. Use Recovery Disk Assistant (RDA) on another Mac running the same major version of OS X as yours to create a bootable USB device. Boot your Mac from the device by holding down the option key at startup.Warning: All existing data on the USB device will be erased when you use RDA.
Once you've booted into Recovery, the OS X Utilities screen will appear. Follow the prompts to reinstall OS X. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
If none of the above choices is open to you, then you'll have to start over from an OS X 10.6.8 installation. There's no need to overwrite your existing boot volume; you can use an external drive. Install 10.6 from the DVD you originally used to upgrade, or that came with the machine. Run Software Update and install all available updates. Log into the App Store with the Apple ID you used to buy 10.7 or later, and download the installer. When you run it, be sure to choose the right drive to install on. -

On all N97 I know and as you can read here in forum the GPS doesn't work usable in N97 and with MAP 3.1.
I believe that this is a software problem because often I get a GPS signal inhouse and in the wood, but from one second to the other N97 lost the GPS signal. And this in the best weather condition under free sky. Sometimes gps signal works for 15 minutes, then the signal will drop every minute or so.
The current position on map is shift (past) abaout 40-50 meters from the real position, so its unable to use.
The calculated speed is always changing between 0 and the current speed.
I have updated phone to de newes software and firmware also to ne newest maps also has hard reseted and reformatet and the problem ist still the same. If I switch off the option "Maps improvment" (which SENDS DATA TO NOKIA!!!) the the drop outs are fewer. But evreytime the position on maps is shift about 40-50 Meters from right position. Is there a mistake in calculation the position? Also the speed is jumping sometimes from 0 to x and back.
CAN NOKIA TELL US WHEN THIS BUG WILL BE FIXED, AND CAN NOKIA OFFER US A REFUND.
I have payed a lot for N97 and alot for the navigation licence and a lot for accesoires and a lot for the traffic security assistance. So I want a working phone! I dint have payed money for e alpha-stadium phone.
If this is realy the quality of nokia phone, then It is the latest phone I have buyed from nokia.
By the way, the phone has many many many many other bugs as described in this forum.

Could be a shame recognize errors, but it's worst not to say nothing ant let the bad news of Nokia N97 spread for internet even if they want to sell a Nokia N97 Mini in the near future.
I understand and supose that we will no have no new version till september because we are in the last week and july and the activity in august decrease really high... but at least someone of Nokia could tell something about this problems and if it's possible all the other problems.
