How to close and re-open the browser

I have just downloaded a program and to fully install it it is requesting that I close the browser and re-open it. I don't know how to close and re-open the browser. Can you tell me how to close and re-open the browser? Thank you

It is always best to use File > Exit<br />
That will close all open windows, so if there are still other windows open then these won't close if you use the close X on the title bar.
Also make sure that you do not have security software that is locking files in the Firefox program folder.

I have firefox 4.0. Every time I close firefox, some of my SAVED bookmarks are missing when I re-open later. I tried re-saving them, but then when I close and re-open firefox later on again, some more bookmarks are gone..this only happens when I exit for a while..if I close and re-open firefox right away the bookmarks are all still there.
This is very frustrating! I never had this problem with firefox 3.whatever..PLEASE HELP??
ps. i am not very technical, so if there is a bunch of hard things I have to do myself to fix this, then I think I will switch to Internet Explorer..

Yes - see [[options window - privacy panel]]. There is an option to clear some of the history when Firefox closes, you can customise that.

I have a new HP laptop. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but my charging light won't stay on. I have to keep closing and re-opening the I Tunes program. Is the battery shot or what?

Depending on how often you use your shuffle (how many charging cycles it's been through), a 2nd gen shuffle from 2008 could have a worn out battery.
Battery charging is not dependent on iTunes running. If you connect it to the laptop without iTunes running (or even installed), it should charge. If you connected the USB cable to one of those USB power adapters, it should charge. It just needs a USB 2.0 port with power.
When you connect it and run iTunes, does the shuffle still appear in the iTunes sidebar? Can you still sync it from empty to full?

When i try to load certain page, the system crashed and the bottom panel states " stopped" but when I close and open firefox again,it can't and I get this message that says my firefox is still running and to open the browser i need to restart the compu

You get message "firefox is still running" and computer restart doesn't help you. Try the advice below.
Make sure Firefox isn't running (end firefox.exe process in Task Manager or restart computer)
Find your profile folder
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default
find file "parent.lock" in it and delete it (the file is empty, its function is to signify to Firefox whether it's already open or not).
Then try to open Firefox again. Will it start or not? What will it say?

its only my account on my laptop that does this.
my boyfriend's account allows him to open firefox browser and it goes right to his facebook without him having to sign in everytime.
not just that website, hotmail, google, they all work for his and not mine. all of the system settings are exactly the same. I've examined every setting I have access to and I can't tell what's wrong.

Stereo Audio channel turns to mono when I close and re-open the project

Hi there,
when I import a random video file with stereo audio channels and put it to the timeline (after peaking), everything works allright - the recording level window shows me the left and the right audio channel.
But when I save and close the project in order to re-open it directly, I only got a mono audio channel (left) and the stereo is away in my timeline and recording level window. The preview of the imported video ist still ok with stereo sound.
Is this a bug ? What can do? Please help me.

Are you clearing your recent history either manually or when you close Firefox?
Firefox stores App Tabs and tab group details in the same file that stores details of browsing sessions. Make sure that you have not set Firefox to delete browsing history. For details of the setting to check see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History

ISP has floating IP and changes several times a day - how do I set Foxfire to automatically detect and update the IP when I attempt to open the browser?

If I log off my ISP automatically changes the IP address, when I used Windows Explorer I was able to tell it to automatically detect the new IP so I did not have a problem. With Foxfire I have to manually go out get the new IP and then open the browser - this is a PIA.

When entering the URL either as your home page or new tab page, I suggest using the full URL https://www.google.com/ since otherwise there is a slight delay as Google redirects Firefox to the secure page.

I don't believe mounting the hard drive should be necessary, unless you have several external drives and want your computer to recognise them as folders, rather than drives. I've never had to mount a hard drive, ever. If you don't know how to do it, then it shouldn't be necessary now.
Try this:
Prepare iTunes so that it can see the external drive.
Make a note of which drive-letter the external drive has been allocated. (Look in Windows Exploer)
Look at the file location for a song. Make sure it plays (and therefore that iTunes has found it). Highlight it and select File/Get Info/Summary>Where: and make a note of the drive letter for that song.
Close and shut down the computer.
The next time you turn the computer on again, connect the external drive
Before you start iTunes - check the external drive in Windows Explorer. Is it ready, does it have the same drive-letter that it had last time? Can you go into the drive and see the files on it?
Once you can, start iTunes. (If the drive lettter has changed, you need to work out why before going any further.)
If iTunes fails to find your external drive, you need to check where iTunes is looking for your Library.
Select the same song you checked before (presumably iTunes can no longer find it). Follow the procedure for locating it. You should be able to see where iTunes thinks the file is. It's the drive that counts. Which drive letter is iTunes looking at? Is it the same one that it was previously (which should also be the same one that the drive has now).

Firfox is ceashing when I attepmt to download a file. Everything works until I close Firfox and then attempt to re-open the browser then it crashes. I tried deleting the download file in my profile folder but it didn't work.

Downgrade to an older nightly that works for a week or so, then test again to see if the bug's still there. In the mean time, report the bug on Bugzilla if it hasn't already been. There's really nothing you can do about bugs in nightlies.
(A similar sort of bug that triggered 60 seconds after opening, every time, was what got me out of using nightlies as my main browser.)

Why does the Welcome to firefox tab open with my google tab every time I open the browser? And why can't the browser hold any add-ons I downloaded? I loose then when I close the browser, even tool bars have to be reinstalled every time I open the browser

Every time I open the browser the Welcome to Firefox tab is the first tab, then a second tab opens and thats my google, then a 3rd tab opens for me to reinstall my toolbar. This has been happening for a good year. Updates have not fixed it. Others have this problem. I did a search for an answer, the question is out there but no answer. Now if I go into add ons and add a background Theme or an extension it all is gone when I exit the browser. When I open the browser again I get all 3 tabs and have to install my toolbar again. I DO NOT want to reinstall as I will loose all my saved data, passwords, bookmarks, everything! I have had this computer for a year, Windows Vista x64 bit. Its not the computer, it's the browser. Because of this I can not manage to do anything on the FarmVille screen. This does NOT happen on my desktop machine. Both are running Windows 7 64 bit. Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have developed a form with fields hidden by default, that become visible based on box ticked or radio button selections.
My problem is that, when I close the form and re-open it, it comes back to it's default presentation, regardless of the information already recorded in the form (including in the now hidden fields.
How to correct that

I've had the same problem. This solved it...
Go to the "Form properties..." in the File-menu. Select "Run-time" to the left and in the box "Scripting" Preserve scripting changes to form when saved: choose Automatically (Script-based state changes are saved locally in an insecure fashion. This option cannot be used for certified forms).
