How to close preferences box properly in Firefox 4.0 for Mac OSX?

Whenever I try to close preferences box in Firefox 4.0; it did not close completely but instead minimized into a small blank box at upper left corner and topped on the desktop and existing windows. It cannot be removed or dragged around. Only way to remove that annoying little blank box is to quit Firefox entirely and restart again.

I would recommend contacting the support department at RealVue regarding their compatibility with your Browser/OS set up. As they are not a supported Firefox plugin [meaning we don't provide the link or plugin], there isn't anything we can do to make it install correctly.

Firefox PDF Plugin for Mac OS X shows as an unknown plugin, yet I got it through mozilla! What's its latest version?

So it's in the Firefox data base. What's the latest version?

1. Mozilla didn't supply that Firefox PDF Plugin for Mac OSX, it is probably part of your PDF reader program, or maybe it came with your Mac operating system.
2. Lack of Plugin version information is something Mozilla has been working on for that Plugin Check page. The problem with fixing it is that there is no standard among Plugin developers for making the version number of their Mozilla Plugin available for Mozilla to locate and display. If you look at your own '''''More system details...''''' in your original posting, you can see the problems Mozilla faces when trying to fix the Plugin Check service. Eight Plugins recognized by this forums software and only the last 2 in the listing reveal the plugin version number to a website - Silverlight and Flash.

I had moved the Java SE 6 to the top in both Plugin and Applications. The
correct version is showing in the terminal window. See below.

CF will not start. I have the activity monitor open, and when I start CF you
see it in the activity monitor for a few seconds as it starts up. When the
message process is completed in the terminal window CF disappears in the
activity monitor.

My apologies but I forgot to ask 2 questions: (1) What kind of Mac you have
(Intel or PowerPC)? (2) What version of CF are you running and what installer
did you choose (8 or 8.0.1, 32-bit, 64-bit, etc.)?
To start, try the following:
1. Normally you'd shut CF down first ... but that's not necessary for you
2. Open Java Preferences again
3. Select Java SE 6 and move it (drag) to the top spot in both section (Applet
Plugin and Applications)
4. Open Terminal
5. Type java -version (you should see 1.6.0_13 as the new version)
6. Try to start CF again
This may not work (I've had issues with it) but it's technically how it's
supposed to work. With the Java Preferences utility, you're visually setting a
default JVM (you can do it with commands in Terminal but this is much faster
and easier).
If CF still won't start, look for the jvm.config file in your CF application
folder (try /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin or
/Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin -- the latter is where a jvm.config file
is on my machine for a particular version of CF that's installed similar to
yours). You can override the JVM in this file but, hopefully, that won't be
necessary!

Firefox 3.6.13 / Mac OSX.6.6, open-PDF-with Preview preference is not retained across sessions

Using Firefox 3.6.13 / Mac OSX 10.6.6, when I visit PDF-file links, the default ALWAYS reverts to saving file in downloads folder. I go to Firefox -> Preferences -> Applications -> Search PDF, set Open-With Preview (Default). Fo rhtat session of Firefox, everything is fine. The next time I sure Firefox it has forgotten this preference and I have to set it AGAIN. Every time I restart FF.
Although I had Adobe reader also installed, Adobe doesn't seem to be grabbing the PDF ring wither, it's always reverting to saving files. What's wrong?

Here's the fix. Dump Firefox 3.6.13 and Re-Install Firefox 3.5.16. Problem solved.

You can use the Tab key to select a search engine on the bottom bar and press Enter to use the search engine to do the search.

In the current Firefox 34 release there is a new "one-off" search bar.
This search bar doesn't show the name of the search engine and a logo.
You can type one letter to make a drop-down list appear where you can see suggestions and see the used search engine and that also has bar at the bottom where you can select other search engines that are enabled via the Search tab in Options/Preferences.
You can use the Tab key to select one of the other available search engines and press the Enter key to search with the selected search engine.
Click the search engine icon and click "Change Search Settings" to open the Search tab in Options/Preferences (positioned between Tabs and Content) to select the default search engine and select which search engines to show in the search bar drop-down list that opens when you start typing search terms.

Where do I find the option "save frame as" in Firefox 4.0 for MAC ?

In Firefox 3.6 for MAC I used the option ''save frame as'' from the FILE-menu to genereate a file called ''Container.aspx.html'' which I could open afterwards with Excel. It was good solution for not loosing the format of columns in html when going to Excel.
Now I have upgraded to Firefox 4.0 for MAC and it seems that the option "save frame as" is no longer available in the FILE menu? Thanks in advance for helping me out.

To make a 24-bit AVI file in Photoshop, go to File>Export>Render Video. Then, under File Options, choose AVI from the Quicktime Export drop-down menu. Click the Settings button. Click the Settings button in the AVI Settings window. Change Compression to None, and then choose "Millions of Colors" from the Depth drop-down under Compression.
The Millions of Colors option is for 24-bit video (8-bit R+G+B channels, 8x3=24). Millions of Colors+ is for 32-bit video (24-bit video plus an 8-bit alpha channel).

Languages are serial number specific. You cannot change them on the fly. If your serial number supports it, you would have to install it in English. anything beyond that is a hack like stripping the localization files from the app package...

Just wondering why the Apple website won't load at all in Firefox 3.5 for Mac. It works fine in Safari. But not at all in Firefox. It's the only website I know that flat out won't load in Firefox. I want my movie trailers back.

Works just fine here for me. Maybe there's something broken in your Firefox installation. Try deleting it and downloading a fresh copy.
