  • How to call struts action manually in onchange property???

    Hello!
    action defined in struts-config.xml:
    <action path="/editLafLm" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataForwardAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/editLafLm.jsp">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="editLafLmUIModel"/>
    <forward name="Submit" path="/viewLaf.do"/>
    </action>
    In my JSP the following form:
    <html:form action="/editLafLm.do" target="laf" onsubmit="self.close();">
    <input type="hidden" name="<c:out value='${bindings.statetokenid}'/>" value="<c:out value='${bindings.statetoken}'/>"/>
    <html:select property="StaId1">
    <html:optionsCollection label="prompt" value="index" property="StaId1.displayData"/>
    </html:select>
    <c:out value="${bindings.editingMode}"/>
    <input name="event_Submit" type="submit" value="    OK    "/>
    </html:form>
    When i click choose an entry from the Select list and then click the Submit Button all works well (the action forward goes to viewLaf.do)
    But i want to use the "onchange" property on the select list:
    <html:select property="StaId1" onchange="submit();">
    This is not the same as pressing the Submit button because here the action editLafLm.do is done in a new window (and then i have to click the submit button)...
    So can i call the action or the action forward manually in the onchange-property so that there is the same behavour as clicking on the submit button???
    Thanks
    Markus

    Markus,
    You can use the click method on the submit button called "event_Submit". The trick is to access it in the elements array of the form.
    So instead of:
    <html:select property="StaId1" onchange="submit();">you will have
    <html:select property="StaId1" onchange="elements[n].click();">where n is the correct index of the 'event_Submit' element in the array of form elements.
    If you need to access the form by name you can always count the form name to be DataForm. So from the document it will be:
    document.forms.DataForm.elements[8].click()Charles.

  • How to to get Struts Action at very first loading

    Hi, All;
    I was working on Jsp with Struts framework, I do not know how to get the Struts action to run during the very first loading if it is no submit buttons.
    When first load of page, I'd like to retrieve data from Action class (or other class) with request, then drop it to request attributes or create a bean.
    Because, normally Action class will be invoked in submit on page form which predefined in config files, but my page should get data from class with request at very first loading (without button submit), so can anyone know the way to do this kind of things? Is there other thing need to do in strust-config.xml. I really appreciate your ideas or examples.

    Sure. In the url just call that Action's path (e.g /app/myAction.do) which will first fill the data and then send to the desired JSP.
    Click Here
    When the user clicks on the link the Action would be automatically called. And you can do whatever you need in the Action.

  • How to get the action-mapping in jsp page in struts

    Hi,
    I want get, in my login.jsp, the name of action mapping that call my
    login.jsp.
    Is possible?
    suppose abc.do called my login.jsp
    now i need to know the name of action-mapping here abc
    Thanks,

    Depending on what you need, I believe Struts 1.3 creates a request attribute called "org.apache.struts.globals.ORIGINAL_URI_KEY". In your case, it looks like this would be set to the string "/abc.do". There should also be a request attribute called "org.apache.struts.action.mapping.instance" that contains an instance of ActionConfig. I think both of those keys are defined by the Globals class.

  • Call struts action from javascript?

    Hi all
    I'm having problem already discussed here quite a lot, but I have idea to solve it different way. And need to know is it possible or I'm doing mission impossible here :(
    I have JSP with 2 drop down lilsts, where the second is populated according to selected value from first - that's basically my problem.
    Is it possible to somehow only call my struts action which will return all needed values using javascript and onchange event handler?
    I dont have any experience with javascript, and I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible at the moment.
    Thanks in advance

    well as far your requirement is concern if at all you are planning to implement AJAX try to use the below link which might be of some help...
    http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2005/12/13/ajax-in-struts-implementing-dependend-select-boxes/
    However,I somehow feel there are few loopholes in the author's approach...
    i advice to use XmlHttpRequest.reponseXML property there.
    However, i've mentioned a sample code snippet for you reference.
    XML Response Pattern :
    ======================
    <? xml version="1.1" ?>

    can be used for better purposes instead of devising manual parsing.
    where i've used XmlHttpResponse pattern to be in XML. you may make use of other practices like JSON & so on depending on your requirement..
    and and if you are more instrested in integrating Struts with AJAX using few frameworks & customized tag based support please go though the below link.

  • Pass html data to struts action

    There is a user registration page where in a login-name is required. I have a "Check if loginame is available" link (Typical web-sites have such facility).
    Now,for this scenario i am still not submitting the form and only need to pass the login-name text value to the appropriate (Struts) action class where further business logic is implemented and return a status whether its available or not.
    How do i go about passing the value of the jsp page to Java.
    Regards,
    Gyan

    ragh_dr wrote:
    So, you have two separate Action classes for login and check login name? What you could do is call a javascript method on clicking the link (onclick="javascript:checkLoginName();"). In this method, get the value of the user entered login name and pass it to your check login Action either as a query string (document.forms[0].action="/CheckLoginName.do?loginId=userentered") and submit the form. You can get the value of loginId from the request object in your Action class. You could also set the target of the form as new or something document.forms[0].target="_new", so that the check results are shown in a new window if required.Why would you abuse JS for this and not just let the Login class delegate/call the CheckLogin class?
    About that JS, although this is not a Javascript forum and I normally don't go in detail with JS here, but I would say that using document.forms[0] is a terribly bad practice. Why should your code expect that the form you're looking for is always the first form element of the document? Just use document.formname or document.getElementById() or if you're smart, the 'this' reference.

  • Get HTML source from servlet or strut action

    Hi, need ur help
    I would like to get the HTML source code after calling a URL, for example,
    Suppose a servlet will return a page hello.html, i would like to grap this HTML page source code in my servlet or strut action.
    How can i achieve this?
    Thanks

    This question does not make sense, because the Servlet is the thing that generates the HTML in the first place.
    If you want to view the HTML source of a given web page. Go to 'View'->'Source' in Internet Explorer.

  • I'm confused with the struts.action and those in the actions package-help

    hi all
    looking at the struts framework particularly the org.apache.struts.actions package, i am a bit of confused as to which abstract action class i need to extend in my application. is there any guideline that shows in what scenario i will need to extend which action? how would i ever know the purpose of each one and how and when to extend it?
    and also i am even more confused when i saw org.apache.struts.action.action class. doesn't this one handle all? most tutorials i have seen reference this class. why do we have others in the actions package?
    your help is much appreicated . thanks.

    Simple actions just extend org.apache.struts.action.Action.
    Those actions in the org.apache.struts.actions package are utility Actions that provide you with extra functionality.
    The [url http://struts.apache.org/api/org/apache/struts/actions/package-summary.html]struts api  describes the basics of each one.
    Commoonly used ones that (to me) are of more interest:
    ForwardAction is pretty much just a placeholder that lets you specify a url to forward to when you don't want to write an entire Action.
    Dispatch action (and its siblings LookupDispatchAction, MappingDispatchAction) are most interesting because they let you use the same action for multiple events.
    In effect it is writing multiple "execute" methods in one action. The Dispatch action determines which one to call. It is useful for writing CRUD actions and keeping all that code in one class.
    Hope this helps some,

  • How to use same actions for differ pop-up

    Hi gurus,
    I am using 2 popup in a view.same popup's having same buttons 'Yes', 'No'.when i use 1st one i have to create an action for that Yes button where i put my code for that particular Action.
    But when i used 2nd one the action define for that is not acceptable with differ name.it takes only standard one.
    Now my Query is : How to use same actions for differ pop-up buttons with in a similar view?Where i put my code.
    Plz sugges me.

    Hi,
    Take one integer value attribute in the context of view
    when you r performing action on POP1 set it's value to 1
    when you r performing action on POP2 set it's value to 2
    create one method which receives integer argument, say diaplay(int a)
    In the action call display(wdContext.currentContextElement().get<intvariable>()) by passing the value in the context attribute
    in display() method, Check the value of integer variable..
    if it is 1 then perform action related to POP1
    if it is 2 then perform action related to POP2

    Hi ,
    u can use the method SUBSCRIBE_TO_BUTTON_EVENT of the IF_WD_WINDOW interface ... to handle the event fired by the popup .....used this method after creating the popup window ...

  • How to know which Action has been done by a Dialog in ControlsFX?

    Hello!
    I am using ControlsFX for the "Dialog" class. This class lets you build a dialog with "Node" Content.
    I set the content to a GridPane and and had wanted to set up a custom Action.
    There are premade Actions like "OK" "CANCEL "YES" "NO" "CLOSE" so I tried using "OK" and it worked by saving all of the info in the TextFields which were set in the GridPane
    However when I tried "CLOSE" "NO" or "CANCEL" it also saved the data within the TextFields... SO I'm confused, what Actions are exactly going on, and I figured I would just make an if statement saying {code} if(Dialog.getAction(Action.OK) == true){code} but it never worked.
    Thoughts on howe to do the actions? I tried to make a custom action at first, but the premades "workjed" but not really.. :(?

    Thanks!
    This wasn't there when I first looked at it, or I was looking at another location of the api, I will make sure to look at this one now :D.
    I basically did Action action = Dialog.show().
    then did if (action.equals(Dialog.Actions.OK))
    //code
    }So it works :).
    I like the custom action too, I'm interested in the example Action response = Dialogs.create()
          .title("You do want dialogs right?")
          .masthead("Just Checkin'")
          .message( "I was a bit worried that you might not want them, so I wanted to double check.")
          .showConfirm();I from the api it says that .create() is static Dialogs Type, so I'm curious how that's used as the Action in this case?
    Thanks again :)

  • Problem for Struts action to insert multiple records

    I am writting a code for Struts action which inserting a single record to table A and multiple records to table B .The architecture that I applied is Struts+Spring+iBatis.The multiple records are come from a 10-rows table in the design.The name of each column element is same.The field name other than these are just single-row field.
    <tr>
    <td><input name="date" type="text" size="12" /></td>
    <td><input name="billno" type="text" size="8" /></td>
    <td><input name="desc" type="text" size="11" /></td>
    <td><input name="purpose" type="text" size="20" /></td>
    <td><input name="proName" type="text" size="6" /></td>
    <td><input name="trainingCost" type="text" size="5" /></td>
    <td><input name="travelCost" type="text" size="7" /></td>
    <td><input name="entCost"  type="text" size="5" /></td>
    <td><input name="miscCost" type="text" size="5" /></td>
    </tr> I am using three DTO objects to hold the data.claimArray is the ClaimDTO array that hold the multiple record insert to table B.claimdto is the object that hold the single field record to table A.claim_dtldto is the object that hold the single field record to table B.
    PK of table A and table B are claimNo and claimDtlNo respectively.claimNo is also FK of table B. HTMLUtil is just an API that I used it for type conversion.There will have two insert statements in iBatis xml, insertClaim & insertClaimDtl to insert data into table A and table B respectively.I not sure what went wrong in the code,the data is not inserted into db.Thank advanced for you guys help..

    Two things; you need to pass #number# as a form field and you
    need to pull the correct record out.
    Use this:
    <cfloop list="#form.fieldnames#" index="fieldName">
    <CFSET record = Evaluate("form.record_#number#")>
    </cfloop>
    Here's some example code:
