how do i make the sky more blue when it is very white looking?

I prefer to use the HSL sliders in ACR, and reduce the luminosity value for blue (and sometimes cyan), and increase the saturation values for the same colours. It works particularly well when you have clouds in the sky, because they are not affected so stand out more - almost like a post production circular polarization filter. You need to watch for large clumpy noise if you go too far - actually I think is more likely to be localised posturisation than noise.
This was taken directly into the sun, so the sky lacked saturation, but the above technique brought back the deep blues. BTW It was taken with an ultrawide, and the camera was about 12 inches from the nearest horse's nose Feathered flash lit the horse, and the man was composited in from a shot in the other direction (spot the erronious shadow).

Qosmio G30-116: How to connect the Sky Digital box to watch TV?

I just recently purchased the Qosmio G30-116 on the understanding that I can connect my Sky digital to the laptop (somehow) and watch and record sky on the laptop
* note: I am not using freeview or normal TV I am using SKY DIGITAL *
usint the supplied converter cable to connect to the video-in on the laptop (video in is like a headfone jack and the converter converts from this to female RCA)
I have plugged it into the laptop then connect a 3 RCA to SCART to it and then into the sky box, when setting up the TV section in Windows Media Centre I follow the instructions until it gets to the point where it scans for a signal, (previous to that I get asked what kind of signal I receive, I select digital but have tried all combinations,) but it doesn't find a signal.
Now I have been told that Windows Media Centre does not support Analogue input and that the connection between the sky box and the laptop is analogue.
Is this correct or not? then, while typing this I have been told by someone else that my laptop is not capable of receiveing SKY DIGITAl as it can't decode it or something. Is this also correct? If not, what am I doing wrong and can anyone help me get this going? And have I been going about this the right way or am I totally up the wrong path if laptop is capable of it?

1.switch off computer using on/off blue lit on/off button to close windows operation.

7.You can do the same i.e open the qosmio player/TV with the supplied Toshiba/qosmio remote pressing the Live TV button ONLY for instant TV on or DVD menu ONLY for instant DVD player/CD player on WITHOUT USING THE ON/OFF SWITCH ON THE REMOTE.That is very much similar to a standard TV remote just press the TV or dvd menu .
8.If you touch the same icon buttons i.e TV and dvd player during the standard computer usage /windows operating system,IT WILL LAUNCH THE MEDIA CENTER BY DEFAULT.that's what happen to you!
I use the remote from my bed before going to sleep and the same from bed to watch early morning TV news

How to colorize and old black and white video? please suggest easy ways :)

1- please tell me more than a way of how to colorize the black and white movie ..!
what is the best way to do that in less time as possible (actually i found it a hard work ). please tell me there's a way to make it
2- also i want to know if there is a palette of color value numbers . let me make it more understandable
when i applied the color balance effect on an adjustment layer (using AE) to have a try to color a frame, i got the RGB values to control by which the color i want. so i found it a little hard to get far a way from the orange , purple , green , pink , red , gray and blue colors via combining the values .. so i am asking if there is a palette that could help me to mix color values and get more colors!!!
3- what programs could do this? i have an idea that after effects could do it but what else?

Here's a step by step and a few other ideas. To add color to a black and white film it is best to use the Color blend mode. AE CC 2014 has very powerful mask tracking which can be used to isolate things like faces and clothing. A bit of hand work may also be required. For some scenes, you'll need to use RotoBrush to isolate the elements you want to colorize. You cannot effectively colorize just by manipulating channels unless you want very subtle colors because black and white images may have exactly the same color channel values for a man's shirt that you want to turn blue, the leaves on a tree that you want to turn green or the car he is driving that you want to turn red. You can, however, create a mask that tracks the car and then add a red layer or fill effect using the color blend mode to turn the gray car red and maintain all of the highlights and shadow values.
Really powerful color correction software has the power to isolate and track areas based on edges (much the same way rotobrush works) so this kind of color correction can be done on the fly but it still requires a separate mask for every color you want to add.

CS5 Photomerge - how to avoid those strange jig-saw lines in the sky

that I am merging [just an example of one of many I do]
you will note that the sky area to the left of the rainbow is clear and normal.
When using Photomerge direct from bridge and on RAW files regardless of resolution I am getting nasty and annoying lines and areas of uneven-ness that are too hard to fix by retouching as they are widespread and large. They usually appear in smooth detail-less areas like skies and really stand out if you want to darken them. They are NOT anything to do with the joins of the images and they appear regardless of how many images you are merging. They appear regardles of which style - ie 'auto', 'reposition', 'cylinder' etc one chooses in the merge panel. As I am trying to sell large-scale and perfect panoramic prints for the wall, the only way I can avoid them is to keep these areas light so they don't show up - that's not what I want! The next pic shows an example - I have saturated to make it clear to see.

Are you stitching 16 bits/channel files? I would guess you're using 8 bit. Posterization can be a problem with 8 bit.
Try 16 bit. I've done a lot of Photomerges of 16 bit files and I don't see what you're showing.

How to only edit the Sky within an image?

Hi. I'm trying to fathom how you can, say, change the saturation; brightness;..etc of one particular section of an mage instead of the changes being applied to the entire image. Say, I wanted to tweak the adjustments for only the sky within a landscape picture but to leave everything else alone...how would you achieve this?

Thanks for the responses so far. This seems crazy. Here we have a Pro Application like Aperture yet it appears a user cannot do a relatively straight forward task of adjusting a particular area of an image.
Dodge & Burn is ok but doesn't allow me to adjust colour for example?
The colour eye dropper is ok but like you said if you alter the sky (blue) then you end up messing up other blue areas within the image unintentionally.
I am familiar with 'Layers' within Photoshop and was hoping Aperture could do something equivalent. Are 'Stacks' similar to layers? Could you have multiple stacks with each stack addressing an individual aspect of an image then stamp them all into one?
Back to my original question, my friend said Photoshop Elements allowed you to do what I want i.e. select just the Sky for editing by performing a 'Colour Cast' operation.

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on the back of the Sky router to the WAN (circle of dots icon) port on the back of the Time Capsule. This connection must be maintained at all times.
Then, using the setup "wizard" on your iMac illustrated below, configure the Time Capsule to create a wireless network that uses the exact same wireless network name and password that the Sky router is using.
You can get the setup wizard going in several different ways, but the simplest might be to click the WiFi icon at the top of the Mac's screen and then click on Time Capsule under the heading of New AirPort Base Station.
The wizard will open up and analyze the network, then the suggest the correct setup. The example below shows an older AirPort Express that is about to be setup in the same way. You will see a Time Capsule icon on your screen when you run the setup wizard.

How do I edit this photo, my hair is glowing against the sky?

I really need help, I have a camera RAW file from a recent vacation. It is a good photo, but the hair appears to be glowing against the sky. No matter what settings I play with it will not go away. The only way I have found so far is to use the clone stamp, but it makes my hair look funny. Any ideas?
This is with no settings changed, straight from the camera. Everything else in the photo appears perfectly normal.

Is that clip from the image at full resolution, or is it downsampled? If that's full resolution, good luck.
Given the imprecision of JPEG in contrasty areas, I'd recommend uploading a section of the image at full resolution as a PNG24 image, which won't have JPEG artifacting.

Qosmio G40-10E: How to conenct to the sky LAN broadband

I know nothing about computers.
I'm buying the G40-10E and geting sky broadband and they say you need a spare ethernet on the computer.
All I can find is RJ11 and RJ45 is this the ethernet in a differnent name.
If i cant link it to broadband this laptop ill save my money.

The Qosmio G40 supports all ports which are important to establish the sky broadband.
The RJ45 is the Ethernet port; known as Lan port ;)
You can connect the sky broadband modem to this port using the simply LAN cable ;)

Hi Sky-
It looks like you have a web application only.
You need to create a war file as described above. A war file is a jar'd file containing your web components, including your javabean class files, etc. JDeveloper 9i can do this for you. You've already done the hard work. Suppose that the project you have created that contains your javabeans, etc in JDev 9i is called myproject (with myproject.jpr as the project file). Right click on the myproject.jpr in the JDev navigator and select 'new...', go to Deployment Profiles and select J2EE Web Module (WAR File) - a general screen will pop up asking you to save the deployment profile (you can just use the default if you want). Once you select OK on that, you will get a screen that calls itself the J2EE Web Module Deployment Profile Settings. This is the screen that you can use to enter your information.
Your servlet and javabean classes will go into WEB-INF/classes subdirectory that you see to your left in this window. Simply select the WEB-INF/classes entry and it will display a list of your java sources (it will only place the compiled output in this directory - there is a toggle for it).
Once you have specified that your javabean and servlet classes go in this directory, you should be set. Go ahead and save / close. In your navigation screen under your project (myproject.jpr or whatever your project name is) you will see your files, jsps, etc and something called webapp1.deploy (if you accepted the default). If you right-click on that, you will get a menu that asks a number of things, one of which is to Deploy to EAR file. Select that entry and it will create an ear file for you. You can play with the various settings to change the name of the ear file, but that's about all you have to do. Once this is completed, you can put the EAR file on your linux box or wherever you want, adjust your server.xml and default-web-app.xml files and launch the app!

In fact, it doesn't change anything on my OBJ objects : they always look strange (Java interpretation of faces more than 3 points is quite strange for me)... I will try to decompose each faces of my objects into triangles, but if you know an other easier method, it would be great !

How exact is the Find the iPhone app when lost?

I lost my phone in a movie theater and it is showing up on a nearby freeway (where I wasn't at) which isn't where I lost it and I was told that it isn't exact if it is in an area that doesn't have good reception it would indicate anywhere within a five mile radius. Could that be correct?

The iPhone can determine its location using GPS satellite data, wifi-node's and their associated addresses in Apple's database, or by the nearest cell phone towers.
GPS should be quite accurate and precise, but it requires that the device be somewhere it can get GPS timing signals from the satellites. That pretty much means being outside under a clear view of the sky.
The information from wifi-nodes and cell towers is far less accurate or precise. And cell towers will be the least accurate as a cell tower, under some circumstances can be detected many miles away.
So if inside or obstructed from GPS signals, and outside of range of any wifi-node, yes, location services may only be able to define the location very vaguely, with a huge degree of uncertainty. If only able to get data to work with from cell towers, the uncertainty of the location fix may have a radius of some miles (depends a lot on how many useable cell towers are within range).
Find my iPhone's reported location depends entirely on what data location services on the lost device has access to - so the location fix reported may be precise to within a few yards, or a few miles. That is why the location is always plotted as a point, with a radius of uncertainty around it - that circle represents the sum total of area that the computed location may actually be in.

How to Colorize your layers

Here is a simple example in how to Colorize your layers in two different ways.
First, duplicate the layer you would like to adjust. To duplicate the layer, select the layer in the Layer palette. Then choose Layer > Duplicate Layer. You can click the Channel adjustment layer found in Adjustments. Within the properties panel, you can see that I adjusted the red scale to give the photo a red tint.
With the same Channel Mixer panel as above, you can see when you adjust the constant slider that the intensity of the red changes.
You can also colorize with the Hue and Saturation Adjustment layer seen below:
Duplicate the layer you want to adjust. To duplicate the layer, select the layer in the Layer palette. Then choose Layer > Duplicate Layer. Adjust the Hue, then adjusting the saturation slider gives you a similar effect.

The layers are always expanded. Only in version CC17.1 Illustrator remembers the layer state.
The layers are not created when opening the file. They are already there.

Moving clouds in the sky

I have a photo with a cloud formation in the corner. I need to move it to the center of the photo and also rotate it about 90 degrees. Thanks for any help.

You can use Content-Aware move to move the clouds:
1) Select the content-aware move tool (in the same palette as the Healing Brush)
2) Select the clouds with your mouse.
3) Click-drag to move them
I am moving your question to the Photoshop General discussion forum, whose members can comment on how best to rotate the clouds. Also, when I do this, I sometimes need to match color on the background blue of the sky, so maybe someone can chime in on that, too.

Moving clouds in the sky... the good one.

i've search a lot, but no one has the closest match to what i
am looking for. I've seen this on several sites even before version
8 was released. but is there anyone who ever knew how to move a
cloud in a sky background as seemless?
i knew the cloud panoramic trick but it's obvious that it
only moves sideways and you can see them enlarge when you also
enlarge it a little when tweening.
but i've seen some sites that clouds are moving
perspective-ly not sideways, not up and down, not getting big, but
moves perpectively and the cloud edges almost diffuses like smoke.
I've actually opened a fla file of it. but only got this in
the library:
two actual jpeg pix of a similar background color of a cloud.
the first one alpha offs in a couple of frame then the second
one alpha on to the last frame.
then then there are symbols (pressumed converted) unnamed so
it's named default symbol1 symbol 2 etc.
and when I press my keyboard's arrow key down to browse the
symbols it technically is the animation you'll see in the swf file.
but then at the stage the movie that was dragged there was
only the the movieclip of the 2 pix on alpha pic one alpha100 to
alpha 0 then pic two from alpha 0 to 100.
even if i change the movieclip instance to "graphic- play
once" when i play the timeline it only plays the alpha.
but when it's exported to swf it plays the clouds moving like
the symbols browsed consecutively as if it was screenshot-ed every
movement and converted to symbols per movement.
I'm looking for actionscripts but there is none except for
the loading bar.
now in any case i might suspect that the cloud movement was
taken from another program then i should see sequenced jpegs in the
library but i don't, only sequenced symbols with the movement of
the clouds in they sky, seems so real as it was in movies when the
sky is shown and the time is fast forwarded to see the cloud
movements.
that is the cloud movement i wanna know and not the cartoon
cloud, not the panoramic cloud that moves sideways and alpha ins
and out to another pano cloud. etc.
hope you understand and im sure you have seen several of what
i mean.

That is not flash and you right it was long before flash 8.
As soon flash came
out with movie clip, somewhere back 9 years ago, we were
importing images sequence
made in other programs, usually after effects. It allow nice
clouds looping
and cross fading making seamless loops.

maybe is a video clip, FLV imported to flash. It contains
multiple frames which
you can't explore in flash, you will only see it as single
file.

correct assumption, flash just does not do stuff like that.
Making cross alphas on multiple
images, tween and whatnot is just over kill compare to
importing images sequence.
It's way smoother on performance - if reasonable size, and
simply easier and faster with
nicer result.
