How to combine two premiere pro CS4 projects?

A friend and I are both editing a video project we shot last week for a college project. We have each been working on seperate parts of the video and now we want to combine the two parts for the finished product. We would like to combine the two projects in Premiere pro so they are still editable.. We dont want to export as individual movie files and combine that way..
Many thanks

Thanks for the help guys.. Importing the file works but it only gives me a big long sequence clip of my friends work and it seems to be all over the place.. What I need is the exact layers etc from my friends file.. How can I do that?
The reason the sequence clip is not adequate is that we are being marked based on an overall premiere pro project file so our teacher can see exactly the edits etc we have made and where we have added sound/fx on the timeline.I know I can chop up the sequence clip into the sections I need but im hoping there is an easier more suitable way for what I need.
Im not sure if what I am asking is possible but if it is I would greatly appreciate someone breaking it down for me..
Thanks again for the great help!

  • How do you get Premiere Pro CS4 frames into Photoshop

Hi I am trying to modify a series of Premiere Pro Frames by coloring a small section of them in Photoshop 7. How do I pull those frames out of my timeline, get them into Photoshop, and then back into my timeline? I remember doing it with Premiere 6.5, but I can't figure out how to do it with CS4.

Thanks guys, I'll take it from there.

Yes, PS-Extended will make things a bit easier. While not perfect, it simplifies rotoscoping quite a bit.

  • 'Video Filter Missing' Exporting AE CS4 project into Premiere Pro CS4 project

    Hey guys,
I am new to Premiere and AE, and I just made a short little intro for my current project in After Effects using a couple different effects and such. When I go to export my AE project and make it into a Premiere Project file it will not let me open the project properly, it says:
    D:\Premiere Projects\AFC Title2.prproj
    Video Filter missing:  AE.ADBE Exposure2
    Video Filter missing:  AE.ADBE Glo2
Video Filter missing:  AE.CC Particle World
How do I fix this? Can I get the video filters for Premiere so that it recognizes them?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Are you planning on editing the material you're moving from AE to PPro? Not that you can't, but that's sort of a backwards workflow (ie. usually you edit in PPro, and then move the sequence to AE for effects, etc.). Or are you just trying to export from PPro?
Do you have the Production Premium bundle? If so, you could use Dynamic Link to put your AE comp into a PPro timeline, without having to worry about missing filters. You could also render from AE, and then import the rendered movie into PPro.
Finally, you can make (most of) the Cycore effects work in Premiere; this includes Particle World. Simply copy the AEX plugins from the After Effects program folder, into the Premiere Pro program folder (you'll have to dig into a couple of subfolders to find the effects). You'll then have access to most of them in Premiere Pro, though they don't all work the same in the PPro interface. The other two are, I believe, AE-only plugins, and are locked to that program--they won't work in PPro, no matter what.

  • How to get serial premiere pro cs4

I bought a premiere pro cs6 but I want to install in a machine with 32 bits. I saw in the site that I can install premier pro CS4 and ask a serial for the suport.
Any one have this problem ?

    >bought a premiere pro cs6
    How/what/when did you buy?
As I remember (this is from 3 years ago, so I may be wrong) the boxed SUITE came with P-Pro CS4
If you bought only P-Pro CS6, especially the current download only version, I don't think CS4 is included

  • Downgrade Premiere Pro CS4 project to CS3 possible?

Is it possible to export a CS4 Premiere Pro project in such a way that it will open in CS3? Is there any neutral format such as InDesign's .inx format?

    Tam,
I rather doubt that you can do a direct transfer of a CS4 Project to CS3. Your only course might be to Export your CS4 to DV-AVI and Import that file. It will have all of edits in place, so you will not have the individual Clips. You can use the Razor, to "create" individual Clips, but you will NOT have Handles on these. You could eliminate all Transitions and then extend each individual Clip to include Handles, but you'll then need to re-set all Ins-n-Outs.
Now, you might get lucky. Whiled doing some testing for another user, I Opened his CS3 Encore file in Encore2, without even thinking - dang if it didn't work to about 90%. I think it would have worked 100% had I had his Assets and exact folder structure, but that was not what we were testing.
You might just try Importing the .prproj file into CS3 and X-your fingers. As I started, I would NOT expect this to work, but who knows. If it does, even to a degree, please report back, as this is a common question with each new release.

  • Editing old PC based Premiere Pro CS4 projects in PP CS5 for Mac

I recently switched to Mac to gain OS stability, while still using Premiere, which I like better than Final Cut Pro.  One big problem, I can't edit old projects that used AVI files in CS5 for the Mac.  Does anyone know how I can do this?

The only times I have seen BSOD's with Win7 was when pushing the limits with overclocking. XP and Vista were not as stable, I admit that.
OTOH, with around 20 times more PC users  than there are MAC users, the number of questions here from MAC users does not inspire confidence. But that is another topic.
In some way you need to get your old projects available for the MAC. You can try exporting to QuiRcktime from the PC, or use a visually lossless or uncompressed format and try to import that into the MAC.

  • Png file inside Premiere Pro CS4 project - export video problem

Hi I've got a strange problem with Premiere CS4. I have a project with two layers. First (bottom) is with video material on it, and on second one (top) has a transparent PNG file. Preview looks great but after exporting it to uncompressed AVI theres a weird "shadow" round area where PNG isn't transparent.
    Preview in Premiere: http://pszajna.ires.pl/preview.jpg
    Export screen: http://pszajna.ires.pl/export.jpg

I see where Ann is going with this. I recommend you check the alpha channel in the source monitor. You may find unwanted variations in transparency.
    Cheers

  • Photoshop image size for Premiere Pro CS4 project.

Bless me folks, for I have sinned, it has been a few years since my last video project and it was done using Premiere 6.  I now have CS4 Production Premium.  In Premiere 6, when I wanted to bring images into the timeline i would create them in photoshop and save them as 720 x 540 bmp files.
My question is, in Premiere CS4, what size should I make my photoshop files?  I want the final movie to take up most of a wide screen hdtv with a minimal amount of bars at the top and bottom.  I want my images to appear clearly and the text on the images to appear clearly on screen.  I will be creating a dvd and or blu ray, whichever works, and I may eventually want to output the movie for the web as well.
So ... what new width and height and file type should I use for my photoshop files?  They all need to be the same size because sometimes I use several consecutive photoshop files to show movement on screen because I have not learned how to use after effects yet.
    Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the info Dennis.  The reason that the size matters to me is that I want a clear quality picture on the hdtv screen.  And with my primitive jibjab-like moving picture technology, I need each image to be the same size so that things move around the screen exactly where I want.  I know that if I start off with a small image size it will look terrible onscreen, so your 1920 x 1080 suggestion is probably what I am looking for.
I think i used the bmp format in Premiere 6 for performance reasons, but it sounds like maybe performance using psd files has improved with cs4.
    I appreciate the jump-start.

  • How do you open Premiere Pro 2 projects on Premiere Pro 3?

Is there a way to do that?

You can always try creating a new project in CS3 and then importing (File > Import) the 2.0 project. That should clean up any mis-match in the project header info.

  • How To Sync Multiple Timelines in Premiere Pro CS4?

In After Effects, if you create one Comp by dragging another one onto the "New Composition" icon, the timelines of those two comps will be synced (IE: If I jog to 00;00;16;06 in Comp01 and I switch over to Comp02, it will automatically jump to 00;00;16;06 as well).
How do I do this in Premiere Pro CS4? By default, it does not seem to sync up when I drag Sequence One into the timeline of Sequence Two. I have cuts done in the first Sequence that are important to elements I'll add in Sequence Two and I need to easily jump to those cuts.
    Thanks!

Mmm, none of these are really emulating what I can get in AE. No matter what I do in Sequence One, it will not jump to the cuts I need in Sequence Two. However, I think the easiest way to do this is...
Create markers at the cut points of Sequence One
Open Sequence One in the Source Clip Window right next to the Monitor Window, which will have Sequence Two open
Jump to the first marker in the Source Clip window, copy the time code of that marker and paste it into the timecode of the Monitor Window
Cut at this point, wash, rinse, repeat...
Having said this...this is a pain in the ***. I really wish Premiere was set up more like AE as this would have been more helpful I feel in Premiere as you'll be doing more editing here than in AE.
Unless...I'm missing something? Just to give this one last shot (and to make sure I'm being as clear as possible). Is there a way to be navigating EXCLUSIVE in Sequence Two, via either keyboard shortcut or some type of button in a monitor window, to jump around to cut points that you made in Sequence One, WITHOUT having to jump back to that sequence?
Here is the scenario I'm looking for: Sequence One has a cut at 00:00:02:00. I jump to that point in Sequence One. I click over to Sequence Two (which has Sequence One nested) and I click or hotkey to the same point in the timeline that 00:00:02:00 that Sequence One is currently setting at.
The reason this is vitally important is that I'm going to remove the space between 00:00:02:00 and 00:00:03:00 and replace just that part with something else. Thus, these cut points are vitally important.
    Any thoughts?

  • How to Import *.FLA to Premiere Pro CS4?

is it posible to Import *.FLA to Premiere Pro CS4?
if it's able to, so How? ..please
    thanx

I haven't tried it, but I'd be surprised if PR would import an .fla (the flash project file).  It is not listed in the fiile formats:
    CS5: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WSd79b3ca3b623cac97fa024001235833a568-800 0.html
    CS4: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WSf52ca809ac8f6c7135876f961243120b72d-8000.htm l
SWFs are listed as okay for import in at least CS4 and CS5.  But if you've got the fla, you can probably export a swf.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 crashes on load with project

When I try to load my CS4 projects the application crashes with the error:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I have my hard drive partitioned: C drive for my OS; D drive for my data; and I also have an external hard drive which is H. I installed Adobe Premiere on my D drive and saved all the my project files and data on my external drive H. A couple weeks ago I got a virus and I wiped out my C drive. So, I reinstalled Windows XP. After reinstalling XP and getting my machine back up and running I removed Premiere Pro CS4 from my D drive and installed it on my C:drive. I connected my external drive to my computer and Windows assigned the drive letter F to my external. I launched my project file and it said it could not find my data and it crashed with the above message. I opened my project file in a text editor and I saw that file path was H:\... for all my data so I reassigned the drive back to H hoping that was the reason for the crash. Much to my chagrin it was not as I try opening the project file now and it finds all the files but it still crashes. I'm all out of ideas at this point. Is there a log file that I can look at to try to troubleshoot this any further? Has anyone seen this happen before? Should I reinstall Adobe Premiere Pro? I am under a time crunch here as I need to open this project and make some edits.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.
    -Jeff

    Jeff,
The Page File is MS Windows' "virtual memory." It gets activity, when physical RAM is not available. Especially with video editing, this happens a lot. It can be set via Control>Panel>System. Windows can either dynamically create and size the file, as is necessary, or it can be set to provide the necessary size statically - always the same, and is *usually* set to ~ 2.5x the physical RAM.
With one physical HDD, that is partitioned, you have about 4-5 operations going on at the same time, and your I/O system is basically telling the heads of your HDD to be in different places/platters at this same time. Unfortunately, this is impossible, and one gets system hangs, sluggish performance, crashes or worse.
There are several good threads on suggested HDD setups for NLE work on this forum. I'd step back a level, so you get all Premiere forums, and search for some of these articles. There are a lot of worthwhile suggestions for number, type, connection and configuration of HDD's.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
