How to combine two queries using Web application Designer

Hello experts...
This should be a simple request.
I have two existing queries that I simply want to display on the same template. What is the best way to do this?
To add more complexity to it, if there is a result value that I want to pull from each of them, how can this be done so that I can add the results of the two into one total?
Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
Displaying the existing queries on the same template is very simple... Drag and drop to web items... for ex we will drag and drop two analysis web item...
Create 2 data providers and assign it to the web items... each dataprovider is in turn assigned to two existing queries...
I am not sure about the result value to be pulled from each of them...
Regards,
Kishore

  • To use Web Application Designer release 2004s do we need to have portals???

    Hi
I would like some clarity regarding whther we need a portal or not.
If you use Web Application Designer (SAP BW 3.x) it works fine, you can create reports and then it shows in SAP Easy Access under favourites. Executes fine, no portal is used.
Now when I want to use the new Web Application Designer I can not execute the reports. Gives me error
"Java communication error: RFC destination NOT_CONFIGURED does not exist", the window it appears in has a text saying it can't conect to the portal. Then notes that I look at regarding this seems that the connection between SAP BW and Portal must be set up.
So can please someone tell me whether you need the portal to use the new Web Application Designer release 2004s
    Thanks in advance

    YOu neeed BI Java configured
If you do not use any new BEx Web functions, do you have to install the usage types BI Java and EP?
answer -SAP EP 6.0 Portals could be integrated into a federated portal system landscape using URL iViews.

  • Security for creating web templates using web application designer

I work for ChevronTexaco as a BW Security Analyst. I have a request to set up roles for web template creation using the Web Application Designer. Where can I get help in setting up the security for these types of roles? My experience is in setting up roles for running and creating queries in BEX. I need to know what additional authorizations will enable web template creation. Setting up a trace in ST01 has been less than helpful since it dumps out tons of RS_COMP tracing that doesn't help me much.
The user wants to be able to create web templates for existing queries in BEX and restrict by rs_comp infocubes/areas/reportid, etc. and to be able to save to restricted role names. Are there new auth groups specific to this type of activity that I need to code for in addition to the basic end user or report builder authorizations?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Marc, I'll check it out. My problem was that I was trying to create the role by granting a userid sap_all, sap_new and s.a_system as well as power user auths for a specific application. I set up a trace in ST01 for authorization cking on the ID while one of our BW Central Support people went into Web Designer to create a template and everything else they wanted to do.
The resulting trace spewed out so much stuff from S_RS_comp and comp1 as to be virtually useless since it named scores of different cubes and infoareas that the analyst wasn't even interested in. The results puzzled me and made it extremely difficult to pin down the required authorizations. Usually ST01 can be used as a blueprint to create the role,ie; everything that the user touches is traced but no more than that. Have you seen this before? With just the new role I had set up the user could not save to a role unless I coded the fully qualified role name such as YRH_SENDAT_USER. YRH* would not work.

  • How to maintain Master Data through Web Application Designer layout.

    Hi.
I’m Internship and I have to do something that it doesn’t work.
    I explain to you.
I have to make a layout via Web Application Designer to permit users to add a line in the master data XST_RFC.
For that, I did two things:
    First I followed this url : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/607193d5-cdd5-2b10-c699-8ff04c3124f6?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true&38392712686871
The result; I have a problem with the appendix of method execute “DATA : ZL_WORKTEXT Type ZFREETEXT”. Here, SAP doen’t permit me to put XST_RFC (my characteristic to add by the user) but just /BIC/PXST_RFC… So, I tried with that and at the moment of the test in the Wad, the application say me “no Master Data in XST_RFC”. I know that there are no MD in my char, I just want to add once…
    So it doesn’t Work.
Secondly, after testing, the Function Module test works. When a put an ID in the test page of SAP Logon in parameters, the FM put this ID and create a new line with this new ID. So I had an idea, use directly this function module in a Fox Formula but, when a call my function, I have a problem with variable/parameters type.
My variable is TYPE XST_RFC , but my parameters is TYPE  /BIC/PXST_RFC….
    My Fox Formula
    DATA NEW_RFC TYPE XST_RFC.
    NEW_RFC = VARV(XVOU_RFC).
    CALL FUNCTION ZBWDSST_XX_MASTERDATAMAINTAIN
    EXPORTING
    VAR_RFC = NEW_RFC.
My error message Types of parameter VAR_RFC () and variable NEW_RFC(C) are inconsistent
If you can help me, I work on this issue for 4 days and I waste my time.
    Thanks.
    BR

    Dear All,
The text flow for 0WS_QUEST & 0WS_QSTNNR is sufficient to make available Criteria from source system questionnaire in BW.
After the text load (even it does not generate SID) we can already use Tcode SRM_VE_GROUPING & SRM_VE_WEIGHTING for customization of groupping and weighting in BW.

  • What GUI to use web application designer in BI 7.0 without support package

I use BI in my ECC 6.0 system.
I use tried both GUI 7.1 and GUI 6.40 to logon web application designer.
But system display the message please logon to a Netweaver BI 7.x system. System A11 does not have a mimumium version required 7007.
My system seems to be 7000, so what GUI is suitable to use for WAD?
    Thanks

    Hi,
It could be problem with either Support package which you are using for BI or Front end patch which you need to install for GUI.
please check with minimal installations and let me know with current support package and FEP you are using.

  • BW Application Error while using Web Application Designer Functionality?

    Hi,
An error came while using Web Aplication Designer functionality.
Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue.
X person Developed a web template, but when Y person attempted to broadcast the associated query result, an error message returned indicating access was denied: <b>part of error message Form: PHIO_GET_CONTENT_ACCESS of program SAPLSDCI.</b>
<b>The same X person developed a web template, but when he attempted to broadcast the associated query result, an error message was returned indicating access was denied.</b>
From these test results it appears as though the errors encountered are authorization related.  It is a requirement that web templates developed by X to be broadcasted.
I need to understand what permissions the X person requires in order for this to work so that his access can be changed.
    Waiting for response.
    Thanks & Regards.

The last two days have been frustrating. The error above also appeared when I was trying to view one of the relationships in one of my entities.
What seems to have been happening is Designer showed a relationship existing after it had been deleted. This seems to be a bug in Designer. These rouge links can be deleted in the RON (although if you try to look at their details the RON will crash with the error in original query). After this cleanup everything worked like clockwork.

Any help would be highly appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You can do something like this, which will be more efficient than a UNION:
SELECT  id, vdate, vendorname, venddate, vid
    FROM  vendor
WHERE  (   (    -- Conditions that apply only to q1
                               processid = 32
AND  vid       IN (SELECT vid FROM view_vid WHERE type = 'PDX')
AND (id,vdate) NOT IN ( SELECT id, vdate
                                        FROM   vkfl_is
                                        WHERE  task_id = 55
AND (id,vdate) IN ( SELECT id, vidate
                                    FROM   market_data
                                    WHERE  marketed_date IS NULL
OR  (  -- Conditions that apply only to q2
                     processid = 20
AND  vid       IN (SELECT vid FROM view_vid WHERE type = 'PBX')
AND (id,vdate) NOT IN ( SELECT id, vdate
                                        FROM   vkfl_is
                                        WHERE  task_id = 40
AND (id,vdate) IN ( SELECT  id, vidate
                                    FROM  market_data
                                    WHERE  region_date IS NULL
-- The remaining conditions apply to both q1 and q2
    AND     venddate   IS NULL
AND     id         NOT IN (SELECT id FROM location)
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post  a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.

  • Two querys in Web Application designer

    Hi,
I have two querys in a Web Application desigern.
Query A has a variable A, which should be filled by user.
Query B has a Variable B, which is depend on the value of the variable A and should be filled in the background.
how can I realize this requirement.
    thanks and best regards

Hi, Can you share us more specifics? I beleive both your query have the same type of Charateristic on which the Web report is generated. Consider using a common variable; If not so (i.e. entirely different char types), else if your requirement is to pass complete variable's data from one variable to another, you may try using exits; or better approach use any RRI functionality to pass variables from one query to another based on an event (say button click) in WAD. If you are not interested in either cases, say you want part of the data to be transferred? Like say, user enters 09.2009 & in Variable 2 you need only 2009? If you need such an approach; one: use simple option titled 'Copy Personalization Data from This Variable' under Defaults tab of the variable. Use some offset limitations incase you need to limit the data part using replacement path. Keep the variable optional for input. If you want to use the same personalization data in more than one variable, in the input field, specify the names of the variables under which the personalization data is stored. If not okay, then you may consider using customer exit varaibles. Thanks!

  • Queries in Web Application Designer.

    Hi All,
The requirement is simple but it seems i'm missing something somewhere.
Requirement : I've 2 queries (Q1, Q2) in the report template. the variables of 2nd qry (Q2) need to be populated based upon the vars of Q1 (in customer exit)
Problem : In customer exit (step 3), i always receive Q2 followed by Q1. No matter whether i put the order as
    Q1, Q2  or Q2, Q1.
My understanding was the order is defined by the way the queries are put in the template.  How do i make Q1 come before Q2 in the exit.
    Regards,
    Nagendra.

    Hi Nagendra,
The order in which you put the queries in the web template has got nothing to do with the order in which the queries appear in the customer exit.
Infact I do not get what you mean when you say you are getting "Q2 followed by Q1 in the customer exit"?
I am assuming that Q1 has ready for input variables - so just write the code for the Q2 variables under I_STEP = 2 and do not make these variables ready for input but do make them mandatory - this should serve the purpose.
I think this information would help:
<i>The customer exit for variables is called three times maximally. These three steps are called I_STEP.
The first step (I_STEP = 1) is before the processing of the variable pop-up and gets called for every variable of the processing type “customer exit”. You can use this step to fill your variable with default values.
The second step (I_STEP = 2) is called after the processing of the variable pop-up. This step is called only for those variables that are not marked as “ready for input” and are set to “mandatory variable entry”.
The third step (I_STEP = 3) is called after all variable processing and gets called only once and not per variable. Here you can validate the user entries. Please note that you cannot overwrite the user input values into a variable with this customer exit. You can only derive values for other variables or validate the user entries.</i>
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Nikhil

  • Exceptions not displayed using Web Application Designer

    Hi there,
I've got a query including a simple exception. If I execute these query out of the query designer (in the web) or in the BEx Analyzer the exception is displeyd as defined. (red, green, yellow...)
Do I use these query as DataProvider in a Web Template (Analysis Item -> Exceptions displayer as color) the exceptions are not shown. Does anybody have an idea?
    Thanks a lot in advance

If you need to use Exception in Web, you will have to open the query in the Web Analyzer and create an exception in the Web Analyzer in the Settings.
    Check it out.

  • Web Application Designer - Concatenate two queries

    Hi All,
we using BI 7.0 SAP GUI 6.40 Support Package 14.
I created two Queries one with characteristics within hierarchy(1) and one for the result (2).
I put the first one in filter pane item (1) and the analysis item for the second (2).
If I executing the query I see a drop down menü for the first query (1) and the complete report on the second query(2).
So, when I choose a characteristics from the drop down(2) there don`t changed the data at the second query(2) (result).
How can I concatenate 2 Queries in Web Application Designer?
Please give me a step-by-step solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Wolfgang

Basically you have one query in your dropdown box and when you select one from the dropdown box you want to affect the second query. If that is the objective, then you can do that only in one query, attach the field you need in the dropdown box and create view for the table (analysis Item) and attach the view to the item. Make sure in the first dropdown box, check on the affected area which is going to be the table (analysis Item).
    thanks.

  • Bex Web Application Designer 3.5

Hello, I am having trouble publishing a web template using Web Application Designer 3.5.  Our BW version is 7.0.  The underlying query in the Web App. is still 3.5.   After editing it..I did a "save" and "Publish in Role".   When I look at the report on the portal, it shows up as garbage.   Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    Dear Sam,
Theer are several problems with WAD 3.x.
    Please, review these notes below:
note 1390941 -   Incomprehensible characters when executing 3.X Web template
To remove this entry you can't use the WAD. Please logon to the BW
backend system and execute the report "RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN" (via
transaction SE38). Open the template and manually remove the mentioned
              tag.
