How To Communicate via Bluetooth

I was wondering if there was any documentation available to help me get started with a program to communicate with another device via Bluetooth?
Specifically, I want to develop a command-line interface to interface a bluetooth-capable GPS to some navigation software I wrote for my boat so that my Mac can "fetch" the current fix from the GPS and put it into the ship's log.
Thanks in advance for any pointers, suggestions or advice.
Tom

Vincent,
If you're still looking for a way - then take heart from the fact I've been happily printing for a while from my iPad to my battery-operated HP H470 with absolutely no wires (and no router / pre-existing WiFi connection - it operates in AdHoc mode) for a while.
I couldn't find any info on a true mobile printing solution for iPad (or iPhone/iPod for that matter) but felt sure it must be possible, somehow - so once I'd sorted it all out, I wrote down the solution and the steps to get it to work in the hope of helping others:

Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Keith

  • How to communicate via RS232?

I am trying to program an sbRIO-9606 to communicate with a Matrix Orbital LCD display via RS232.  I have NI-VISA 5.4.1 and NI-VISA Server 5.4.1 software installed on the sbRIO.  But I am not seeing any COM ports to use to communicate.  Is there other software I need?  Or is there a resource where I can find some instructions about this?
    Solved!

    Found it!
I also needed the NI-Serial RT 4.0.0 installed on the sbRIO.

  • Java samples needed for both PC and Nokia HP to communicate via bluetooth

Hi Are there any java samples i need to test both PC and HP.
I have Nokia 6021 that runs java program. I ask for simple samples that
Java program in HP can send bits of data and the java program in PC reads and evaluates the result. For eg, i input numbers 5 and 6 into HP
then send them over via BT. Upon reception, PC receives input and adds them and shows the result.
Do you have any? Would appreciate your generous samples.
    regards
    Clement

    Hi,
I think that your BlueSoleil (IVT) BT stack version is not supported, see this:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=114
So you have to update your BlueSoleil BT stack.
Also you can try to use Microsoft BT (if Microsoft BT supports your BT hardware)...if you want to try, see this:

  • Fax via Bluetooth on Blackberry

I've googled and found instructions on how to fax via bluetooth according to this doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301077
But when I try to add the fax.ppd file, it isn't in the folder. I've tried to spotlight search for it, but it's no where on my computer. Does anyone know where to get this file. Or better yet, the proper way to fax via Bluetooth???

I have not successfully faxed via my 8100 Blackberry. I haven't really found anything conclusive on the web that you can. Here is what I did try this weekend:
    * Blackberry 8100 on T-Mobile
    * No data services enabled
    * MacBook White running 10.5.4
    Steps...
    1) Paired cell phone to Mac.
    2) Sending files worked great (once I allowed it in the Mac firewall)
    3) I configured the BT connection from BT preferences on the Mac.
    4) I went to add a fax and BT was on the list. Also the blackberry had a separate line item as well.
    5) I added both (at different times) as a fax.
    6) I faxed a document.
    7) Fax monitor program started up.
    8) I saw some BT activity indicated by the BT icon in the menu bar at the top of OSX.
    9) fax monitor put the fax "on hold".
That was as far as I got. Maybe this will help stimulate the conversation or help answer some questions. One thing I was unsure about was whether the blackberry port should be RS232 or Modem.

"I have an Iphone 4s and i can't make a connection to my mac and other devices via bluetooth! ":
    That is correct.
"Why is this a problem and how can i repair it?"
Becasue this has never been a feature of iphone/ipod/ipad.  There is nothing to repair.

  • Macbook Air (Mid-2013) and iPhone 5s IOS version 8.1 won't connect via bluetooth, anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have a Macbook Air running OS-X Yosemite and an iPhone 5s running IOS version 8.1. Every time I try to connect the devices via bluetooth is won't connect saying my Macbook Air isn't supported when in actuality it is. Anyone know how to fix this issue? I have restarted both my Mac/Iphone and have turned bluetooth on/off and nothing seems to help. Bluetooth pairing didn't work before I updated to IOS 8.1 so I doubt that is the issue here.

Pairing an iPhone to a computer (Mac or Windows) is only supported for personal hotspot (sharing the iPhone's cellular internet connection) and then only if your cellular plan supports it. More information: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • How can i connect macbook pro with iphone 4 via bluetooth?

I`ve connected iphone with macbook pro few weeks ago for i-net surfing, but i had to use cable. Now i wanna try icloud, and i`ve faced that trouble. My mbp sees iphone, makes pair, but fails to connect it. If i try it with iphone, a message "mbp cant be connected, it isn`t connectible device"-something like this- appears and mbp disappears from known devices list. How can i solve that?

I have somehow the same problem. I just bought the new iPhone 4S and tried to connect it to my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6, latest version, model 2011). The Phone did not see the Mac but the Mac the Phone, so I connected the Phone via Mac.
It worked for about 5 seconds, but then I got this error message:
It's German and means that the network is not available.
Of course I tried again to connect, but I now get always this error:
It says that the device is not available...
I deleted the iPhone from the list under Mac and tried again, but it's still the same.
No my Questions to the community:
Why does the iPhone not see the MacBook?
    Why does it allways disconnect?
Is Sync not possible via Bluetooth?
    Thanks for your help!
