How to compare the value of a cell before changing and after changing.
Hey there,
Now I want to implement a JTable. And the requirement is that users can edit a cell in the Table only once. I think there are two possible ways. One is that after user edited a cell, I will set this cell read only. Another way is to compare the vaule before and after the changing. If it is different, then write back the previous value.
But I did not know how to implement in Java. Can anybody help me?

inevitably, you will have to save a before copy of
the data, what this many times amounts to is that you
will need to have 2 identical data structures before
you start or some type of locking mechanism for each
piece of data.Why is this inevitable? I don't see it as inevitable at all. In fact, it's quite simple to implement a TableModel that returns false when isEditable(int, int) is invoked for any cell that has already had setValueAt(Object, int, int) inovked on it, for example. Depending on the requirements and implementation a different methodology may be needed for determining when the edit has taken place, such as a custom editor that notifies the TableModel when stopCellEditing() is invoked. Heck, overriding editingStopped() in JTable to do it might even work.
So, create a TableModel that returns isEditabe(int, int) as true only if the cell hasn't been edited yet. The only problem to solve from there is how you know when it's been edited. I've already given you a few leads on that, it's not particularly hard but depending on your exact implementation it may require different solutions.

I'm thinking that you'll need to look at the listData
property. I'm not
sure what you get in an OLAP Grid that orients you to your
cell position,
but I'd set a break point in the listData override of your
renderer and see
what you actually have, or look at the docs for the data type
of the
listData object that the default renderer expects to get.

How to get the value from a cell in jTable without click "enter" or "tab"

I have a simple question. I have a jTable in my screen and when editing a value, but without click "enter" or "tab" I want to get the new value. I have a button update and after editing the value I click the button "update" and I want the new value to be store in my table. If try to get the selected value it is giving the old value. I have to see to that the rows present in Table A in oracle , should be same as rows in Table B in sybase
If not , we have to update , insert and delete the row which is not present in Table A in oracle in Table B in sybase.
In the table example i gave , In the first row of Table B in Sybase , the Text is different from that of Description in Table A for that Sno "1"
So we should update the description.
Row 4 has Sno "4" which is not their in table A , so delete that row from table A.
And In table A , Sno "3" row exists , so we should insert that record in table B.

You could add them in one massive return (this.something == temp.something && etc). Or you could split it in a series of if statements. It's really dependant on what kind of variables there are in your class.
Maybe you have an ArrayList you need to compare but also an id. then it would make more sense to check the id first and then possibly loop through the arraylist.

How do I copy the value of a cell?
I'm trying to copy just the value of a cell that contains a formula. I only want to copy the cell that contains the answer and not the other cells that are contained in the formula. Any answers or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Edit > Copy (command c)
Click on the cell where you want the value.
Edit > Paste Values.
That will paste the answer without the formulas.

How to set the value of an array element (not the complete array) by using a reference?
My situation is that I have an array of clusters on the front panel. Each element is used for a particular test setup, so if the array size is three, it means we have three identical test setups that can be used. The cluster contains two string controls and a button: 'device ID' string, 'start' button and 'status' string.
In order to keep the diagrams simple, I would like to use a reference to the array as input into a subvi. This subvi will then modify a particular element in the array (i.e. set the 'status' string).
The first problem I encounter is that I can not select an array element to write to by using the reference. I have tried setting the 'Selection s
tart[]' and 'Selection size[]' properties and then querying the 'Array element' to get the proper element.
If I do this, the VI always seems to write to the element which the user has selected (i.e. the element that contains the cursor) instead of the one I am trying to select. I also have not found any other possible use for the 'Selection' properties, so I wonder if I am doing something wrong.
Of course I can use the 'value' property to get all elements, and then use the replace array element with an index value, but this defeats the purpose of leaving all other elements untouched.
I had hoped to use this method specifically to avoid overwriting other array elements (such as happens with the replace array element) because the user might be modifying the second array element while I want to modify the first.
My current solution is to split the array into two arrays: one control and one indicator (I guess that's really how it should be done ;-) but I'd still like to know ho

It isn't possible to get a reference to a particular element within an
array. There is only one reference to the one control that represents
all elements in the array.
While it may seem better to use references to update
an element within
an array, it shouldn't really be necessary, and it can also lead to
race conditions. If you write to an element that has the
possibility of the user changing, whether you write with a local, a
reference, or any other means, there is a race condition between the
diagram and the user. LV will help with this to a certain extent,
especially for controls that take awhile to edit like ones that use
the keyboard. In these cases, if the user has already started entering
text, it will not be overwritten by the new value unless the key focus
is taken away from the control first. It is similar when moving a slider
or other value changes using the mouse. LV will write to the other values,
but will not rip the slider out of the user's hand.
To completely avoid race conditions, you can split the array into user
fields and indicators that are located underneath them. Or, if some
controls act as both, you can do like Excel. You don't directly type
into the cell. You choose w
hich cell to edit, but you modify another
location. When the edit is completed, it is incorporated into the
display so that it is never lost.
