How to completely delete Backups.bakupdb from trash?

I copied the Backups.backupdb from my external drive onto my desktop. Later I changed my mind and decided to delete the whole thing so I put it in the trash. Then I "emptied" the trash. Everything got tossed except this folder. How can I permanmently delete this sucker?

Are you saying the folder is empty? I believe Kappy is saying that it may take a few hours for the folder to disappear from teh Trash.
Drag it to the desk top and then "get info".. what is the size of the file? If there is a file inside then drag it to the desktop and delete file.
Deleintg the file actually deletes every file in the backup file first.. then the "container" backup file itself.. I had 450GBs on my Time Capsule and it took about 3 hours to delete itself.

You're probably referring to the advice never to change, move, or delete anything inside your backups via the Finder, as that can corrupt them.
A number of folks have tried to delete a single backup that way, and caused all sorts of troubles.
Deleting the entire sparse bundle is ok.

How to completely delete Photoshop Elements from my computer??

I am trying to completely remove Photoshop Elements from my computer.   So far, I have failed in my attempts to do this.   The reason I'm doing this is b/c for some reason that I can't fathom, the folders in My Pictures -- the folders named by shot date -- contain random duplicates.When this happens, the file names folow the convention of DSC_0222 and DSC_0222-1. Exactly the same file size and metadata. In some folders, every picture is duplicated. In other folders, only selected pitcures within the folder are duplicated.   I can't figure out how they got there -- e.g. it doesn't seem to bear any connection to the photos I've edited, which was one theory I had for a while.   Is Elements responsible? Or is this some sort of bug in the download process from the camera (I have a Nikon D40). Anyway, I've given up on trying to sovle this problem and decided I would go back to the beginning and reload everything from my camera.   So, my real question here is about how to completely uninstall Elements.
Here's what I did:    I uninstalled Photoshop Elements through the Add/remove programs utility. I got no errors during the uninstall process.   Then I completely deleted the My Pictures directory (don't worry -- I have it backed up in multiple places!!).   So, at this point there are *no* pictures on my computer at all.    I reinstall Elements, open it up and -- you guessed it!!! -- the catalog is still there with all the thumbnails of the pictures that i deleted from my hard disk.   Of course, each thumbnail is flagged as "Missing File".
So, how do I uninstall/reinstall Elements and get it to forget all memory of the previous catalog?   Why is it "remembering" it in this way when the pictures aren't even on the computer anymore? Isn't this a bug???
I've been working on this issue for much longer than I care to remember-- if anyone can tell me how to get myself truly back to ground-zero so I can start over I would be deeply grateful.   After upgrading to Elements 9 (from 7) to try to solve this problem I am close to just abandoning Elements entirely.....
WHile we're at it, if anyone has any idea where the duplicates pictures are coming from and how I prevent that from happening, I'm' all ears!!!!

Thanks so much for the response.   So, Help/System Info says that the catalog is here:
Catalog Location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\
but no such file appaers to exist. In fact, I can only get as far as All Users.   Then there is no directory under that called "Application Data".
i'm still seeing the thumbnails when I got into Elements tho'....   :-(

First just try logging out and back in. Whatever is holding on to it may not be running after the logout thus freeing it so you can trash it after logging back in.

Welcome to the Apple community.
There aren't actually any apps in your iCloud storage, your purchase list is just a purchase history and you cannot delete history. The only thing that you can do is hide the app, which you can do from the purchased section in quick links in iTunes on your computer.

How to completely delete an app from notification center in IOS not just turn it off

By mistake NDTV was added as a notification in my notification center. I went to preferences/notifications and I was able to turn it off but I want it completely gone which doesn't seem to be possible. Is it just poor programing or am I missing something. Any ideas?

If you're referring to the Notification on Mac OS (iMac), then you can take it out of the Notification Center:
Go to System Preferences > Notifications and drag the app from the top part of the left column down to "not in Notification center". Also make sure you choose 'none' on the right and UNcheck every choice offered. That will stop notifications for that app.
If you are referring to iOS, someone else will need to chime in.

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

First go to Settings>iCloud on your device and confirm that everything is turned to Off, and that you are not syncing any data with iCloud before proceeding. I ended up shutting down my system, and when I started it back up, I was able to drag the photo to the trash and delete it (I did get a message warning that my deleting the photo might negatively affect the application that was "using" it, but I deleted it anyway...it worked...and I'm hoping I didn't adversely affect another application!).

I stopped the delete process and when I clicked on "show original" all my external H.D.'s and my Mac hard drive show up. How do I delete this alias from the trash without loosing all my files? When I tried to drag it back to the desk top, it just made a duplicate and remained in the trash. When I turned off the external H.D., the trash was then empty. Tried rebooting the computer and then turning the external hard drive back on and the alias shows up in the trash again. Much help appreciated.

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.
