How to completely uninstall/remove Safari 3.X from Tiger/Leopard

I have been having Safari problems on some of our computers, and I want to remove it and reinstall fresh later on. How can I completely remove Safari? i imagine it shares some Libraries with other applications. I dont think trashing the App and it's plists really removes it anymore.. how can I get rid of all traces of Safari without hosing other applications?
Thanks in Advance,
g

What makes you say Safari isn't the problem? My iMac ran fine until I updated Safari to Tiger 3.2.1. Now it crashes incessantly. Totally unstable. I have to use Firefox.
Raybo, your post confuses me a bit. When you say "it crashes incessantly" do you mean it's the new version of Safari for Tiger that "crashes", or is it your iMac? How exactly does the "crash" manifest itself?
I have had problems with Safari 3.2.1 but I've come to the conclusion they're directly attributable to its new "warn when visiting fraudulent websites" option. Unchecking it is the cure. Using Firefox works too.
And yes, simply dragging Safari to the Trash will completely eradicate it.

  • How do i uninstall/remove an hp printer from windows 7

I am running windows 7 and my HP printer did not install properly ( I have NO printer icon to make it default) I have downloaded the latest setup file for 64 bit win 7, I want to uninstall The HP printer and re-install with the new setup & drivers. How do I correctly uninstall and remove the HP printer from my PC so that none of my current drivers remain? many thanks.

There's also an uninstall that was delivered with the HP software.  Get there:  START -> All Programs -> HP -> Printer Named directory under HP -> Uninstall.  This is supposed to uninstall software that Windows will not uninstall and which must be uninstalled to re-install successfully.  HP also has an uninstall utility that can be downloaded to uninstall printer software that is difficult to uninstall.  So if you uninstall and try to re-install and the re-install does does result in a working printer, then get this utility from HP and complete the uninstall with the untility and try to re-install again. This install - test - uninstall - re-install seems to be a vicious circle.  I hope you can complete successfully.

  • How do I uninstall unwanted aps, games, etc. from Snow Leopard?

I am getting ready to upgrade to Lion and I have several apps that I no longer want on my MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8.  I am used to a PC where you
have to clean it up and get it ready (defrag) for new programs. Boy, I don't miss my pc.   Do I need to do this with a Mac?  Also, I am concerned about getting the whole program deleted completely.  I am not even certain that I downloaded and opened the apps properly, but they worked.  I just clicked on the desktop and they opened.  I have been reading that some unnecessary files needed to be deleted at that time and not put in the application folder.  What do I know?
    Thanks for any help.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Maps on N80: How to completely uninstall before re...

Nokia Maps worked fine on my N80. Installed on the memory card, with maps for England and some parts of France and Spain. For some reason it now crashes when 'show on map' is used, whether it's from a new search or a recent search. It crashes just at the point it is zooming in.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling however the same thing happens. I have deleted all maps via Nokia Map Loader and since reloaded them.
I would like to know which system folders contain settings etc. for Maps so that I may again uninstall the app, completely this time, and try re-installing.
As I mentioned, Maps is installed on a memory card. I wouldn't know when the crashes started, in relation to other activity on the device - it may have been when I added new maps, or it may have been since installing a 3rd party app, I'm not certain but I'd just like to know how to completely uninstall Maps without having to scrub the device or memory card.

    Hi dougalzene
Unfortunately on this manufacturer's sponsored forum, I would have to say that the only way of deleting the "installation log" would be to reformat your device.

    Hello,
How can I uninstall the Safari extension "Facebook Photo Zoom?"
    Thanks,

Sorry, den.thed, I've looked 'til I'm blue in the face!  There is but ONE radio button--the "Install Now."  Once you've clicked on it and the extension installs, that same radio button greys out and you can (barely) see the word "Installed" on it, and there is no other button available (see the image below.)
I've never seen software where you could not uninstall an extension.

  • HOW DO I UNINSTALL WINDOWS 8.1 PREVIEW FROM MACBOOK PRO (SNOW LEOPARD)... CAN NOT FIND README FILE FOR WINDOWS PREVIEW. PLEASE HELP

how can i uninstall windows 8.1 preview from my macbook pro?? ive looked for over an hour for the readme file for the windows 8.1 preview and have had no luck. ive done almost everything i can think of at the moment and nothing is working. somebody please help, thanks

Windows 8.1 Preview cannot be uninstalled. However, if what you want is to remove Windows completely, start up in OS X, open Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities) and follow the steps to remove the Windows partition.
If what you want is to install the final Windows 8.1 version, read this Microsoft support article > http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/update-from-preview

  • How do I uninstall an add on file from the Seamonkey browser?

HOW DO I UNINSTALL AN ADD ON FILE FROM MY SEAMONKEY BROWSER?
Mozilla needs to make their products more user friendly. There is a multitude of people out there
who are "NOT" very computer literate. Older people like myself, for example, who are old
school, have a difficult time being dragged kicking and screaming into the electronic generation.
My grandchildren are better at this kind of stuff than I am; yet we really don't have much choice
but to try and make the transition, because I have found that there are a lot of types of business
that you cannot get done unless you are willing to do it with a computer, going online.
My problem is not with Firefox (I don't use it because it is too slow) , because I use the Seamonkey browser. The problem I now have is that when I try to download some software, I get a message that says I must first uninstall a certain “add on” file, (npfdm.dll.), a "Free Download Manager" file. When I get the list of add ons through the “help” drop down menu, there is “NO” link or any way I can see that will allow me to uninstall this file from the add on list. Therefore, Seamonkey becomes useless to me. Someone please help me with this. Thank you.

How to find and remove obsolete table entries from below tables in EWM System.

    Pravin,
First, tell me how you determine that these entries are 'obsolete'.
Removing master data from SCM can usually be done using transaction WUF; however, you have to ensure that it is not re-sent to the SCM system, or you are just wasting your time.

  • HT4759 How to Completely Uninstall iCloud? Office 2007 Save As Crashes

I can no longer use "Save As" in Office 2007 since I enabled ICloud.  Word and Excel Crash. And Outlook does not seem to be about to send more than one email at a time.  I have to select the Send/Receive button right after I create a new email.  If I wait and create a second email, the first email in the outbox changes status from ready to send to cannot send.  And even if I open it and try to send it, it will not send.  I have to re-create it.
I want to know how to thoroughly uninstall ICloud.  Other posters on Microsoft (Girish M) and Apple (SkinnyNick) have indicated that the problem is related to ICloud.  And I can confirm that I started having problems right after enabling ICloud.  Here are the references:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-excel/excel-2007-clo sing-unexpectedly-when-trying-to/69705682-06ca-4e39-b17e-56d4bacc3452

I spent a lot of time trying to trouble shoot this problem.  I ran the Office install to repair.  This did not work.  I uninstalled all Office 2007 related products.  I then manually purged all directories relating to office including the Common Shared Directories.  Then, I ran Microsoft's FixIt to uninstall Office to make sure everything was uninstalled.  Then, I reinstalled Office 2007 and it still failed.  I thought about installing Office 2010, but the second post (above SkinnyNick) indicates that this would not work.
So, I am looking for a way to uninstall iCloud including that parts that is causing this problem.  Now, the second post (above) from
SkinnyNick) says that he tried to uninstall iCloud but this did not fix the problem.  He finally reconfigured iCloud by de-selecting Outlook, but I would rather completely remove iCloud.
Can anyone provide instructions on how to completely remove iCloud so that my Office 2007 products will function again using Save As?
    Thanks,
    Rob

As a Windows Application Developer who has more than 28 years of professional development experience, I can tell you that anything is possible in terms of how developers implement their applications. I have seen just about everything under the sun, and it would not surprise me if Apple's iCloud not only places files in key Windows directories, but it may use configuration information in a file as opposed to the Window Registry to control how their application behaves. And this would prevent “System Restore" from fixing the problem. Configuration information can be stored in many places. And, even if you do use the Windows Registry to control how your application works, you can key off of new files (like a user profile file) to control how your application to behaves. Csound1, you have been very generous with your time, and I am very grateful for your advice. Thank you.

I'd also like to uninstall the app Lotus Notes from the model E71. I have actually done it - There are two parts of this app (the app itself and a bug reporting tool), and I removed both. The process went without error and I got the message that the app was removed. But when the phone is restarted, the app is again there!!!!!! Just how is that possible? If all the files related to the app were removed, how (and why) did they come back automatically? Does that mean the phone is telling me lies about what it's removed? How do I get rid of this app? It came pre-installed. Like the OP, I do not wish to format just to remove one app. Thank you.
