How to compose a document on Win 8.1

How do I originate a document in Win 8.1 ? Is there an App included in this PC for this purpose ? I have a Notebook PC g7-1150 us.

Hi,
There are many free apps around. For Windows 8.1 itself, Wordpad probably the best we can get . You want to try it if you wish using the followinf steps:
Hit Win key , scroll (or move) to the very last screen on the right
Wordpad should be under Windows Accessories group

    Good question - and one that a lot of (business) people would like solved!
    Your question prompted me to do some research, and I found this workaround posted by Scott Grossberg:
    His solution actually addresses a second problem too - how to attach a document when replying to an email message. In your case you may not need to consider the "reply" aspect - but if not right now, it'll come in useful someday!
    I've pasted it verbatim - if it works for you (it does for me) then all credit goes to Scott for solving the problem. There's just one thing I'd add to his solution: you will probably want to rename the message, as by default Goodreader gives it the Subject line: Mail with GoodReader attachments.
    THE GOODREADER OPTION
    1.  CREATE the document you want to send.
    2.  SAVE it to GoodReader (this will require you to buy and install the app).
    3.  Go to your email and OPEN the email thread to which you want to Reply and attach your file.
    4.  COMPOSE your Reply.
    5.  DOUBLE TAP the message.
    6.  TAP SELECT ALL. This will copy the entire email thread.
    7.  OPEN GOODREADER on the iPad and go to the file you want to send as part of your Reply.
    8.  At the bottom of the GoodReader screen you will see an EXPORT icon (it looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing to the right).
    9.  TAP the Export button.
    10.  TAP EMAIL FILE. Depending on your needs, tap either SEND FILE “AS IS” or “FLATTEN ANNOTATIONS.” This will open a compose message screen with the chosen document already attached.
    11.  TAP in the body of the email screen. TAP PASTE. This will place your composed Reply and the prior email thread into the message.
    12.  ENTER the Recipients’ names in the TO: field of your message.
    13.  SEND your email Reply.
    The modified version (= when composing a new message rather than a reply):
    1 Make sure that the doc you want to attach is saved in GoodReader
    2 In the message you are composing, double tap, select all, and then copy.
    3 Open GoodReader and select the file you want to attach
    4 Select the export button at the bottom of screen
    5 Select e-mail file
    6 Position cursor in body of the email message, tap and paste. You may want to delete the "sent from GoodReader" text that precedes the attachment.
    7 Rename your message (as by default it will be Mail with GoodReader attachments)
    8 Add the recipient's address in the To field.
    Hope this helps! All thanks to Scott for this workaround.

  • How to link PDF document in Report Layout??

    I need to display the contents of PDF document after the form letter report. I tried OLE object but at the runtime it does not display the content. Does any one knows how to attach PDF document in reports layout?
    Thanks
    Ravindra

    you will have to concatinate your report output with the static PDF document. in reprots 10g you can create a cusotm destination that could implement this functionality.
    out of the box, reports does not provide the ability to add static content in PDF to reports' generated PDF output.

  • How do we send document from one group to other through sharepoint designer??

    Hi SharePointers,
    Looking for help..
    Requirement: I have 3 groups 1.requestors 2. Approvers 3. Vendors.

    Can you please suggest me that how to send the document to others through Designer workflows.?
    Note: Currently we are using ootb
    Kindly show me the way to do this.
    Many thanks in advance..

    Hi Praveen,
    By OOB option, we cannot send documents as attachment via workflow.
    You could use document url as workaround or use code to achieve it:

  • How can I get PlayOnLinux's wine config to detect my audio device?

    This is really bugging me, I've been all over the internet for answers but can't seem to find out how to get this to work...
    I have Steam installed under PoL (PlayOnLinux) using wine 1.5.10 internally and I just can't seem to get any sound in my games. When I go to PoL's 'wine' configuration options and select 'configure wine' then click on the 'audio' tab of the winecfg that comes up it says "Selected driver: (None)" and there's no hardware detected!
    I've heard that this might be a pulseaudio issue and that I should run it using ALSA instead, only I don't know how to do this. Plus I'm running the Cinnamon desktop so I get a load of gnome dependencies some of which are tied to pulseaudio (e.g. gnome-settings-daemon) and I don't know if I can safely remove these without borking my DE (and without ending up in dependency hell).
    Here's the console output from PoL:

    [POL_Wine] Message: Wine return: 0
    I found something on WineHQ's support forum about mmdevapi (which I think is a DLL file) which was somehow being automatically disabled by WineTricks and needed to be re-enabled, only it didn't say how plus I'm not using WineTricks (unless PoL uses it in the background or something?).
    The odd thing is that this all worked fine on my old laptop (before it died), but the really annoying thing is that my old laptop wasn't up to playing more than some basic indie games, no serious FPS or Racing sims, but now I've got a brand new desktop (core i7, HD7870 etc. -- "proper job"!) that's powerful enough to play high-spec games I can't get any audio!
    Does anyone please know how I can have sound enabled in Wine through PlayOnLinux?

    @akspecs -- Yes I was rapidly coming to the same conclusion, thanks.
    Besides, I figured I ought to do it properly and learn how to actually configure and use WINE as it should be, from the command line!
    In the meantime however I'd actually mitigated this problem by committing the ultimate sin -- I installed Windows natively in it's own partition and set up a dual-boot (bring on Steam for Linux so I can remove this evil!).
    It's not even really a 'classic' dual-boot because with my EFI / UEFI mainboard (once I'd got the Windows DVD to play nice) it meant no need to hassle with boot chaining in grub / syslinux etc. Now I have 2 'native' EFI boot options (stored in my mainboard's NVRAM) it's just a case of hitting the button to bring up the boot-menu during POST, then selecting which OS I want to boot -- Arch by default of course!

    How can i share documents with different users on the same mac?

    Shared how? The other users can read the documents or you all can read and write the documents?
    The first is easy just place the documents in /Users/Shared anyone can access the files there and the other users will be able to read them.
    The second is a bit trickier.

  • How to show sharepoint documents in salesforce ?

    How to show sharepoint documents in salesforce ?
    I should also be able to upload documents from salesforce directly to sharepoint document library/list if the users attach a document for a record in salesforce.   Any idea how to achieve this?
    What are the things need to be done if my sharepoint is available in intranet Or if it is SharePoint Online , how can we link this to salesforce (as Salesforce is global and can be accessed from anywhere). What are the security measures that I need to look
    at and how to achieve this?
    Ex:- I have a record in salesforce account object. I have to attach a document for that record which should be directly uploaded to sharepoint and shouldn't exist in salesforce, but it should display the listview to the users once its uploaded to sharepoint
    and they should see them as if they exist inside salesforce, once they click on the link in the listview of the relatedlist, it should open the document from sharepoint.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to show SharePoint documents in salesforce.
    You need to integrate SharePoint with Salesforce.
    Nick Swan
    has written an article on how to integrate Salesforce and SharePoint 2007 through the Business Data Catalog.
    But it might be useful as the theory is the same for using SharePoint 2010 and the Business Connectivity Services:
    Salesforce and SharePoint
    Outside of that, there are some useful third-party products you can have a look at.

  • How to print a document in Pages

    just got iMac computer and downloaded Pages.  Can not work out how to print a document I just created

    Hi LL,
    There's a great piece of free documentation for Pages called the Pages User Guide. It can be downloaded from the Help menu. I suggest that you read the well-written guide some quiet evening. It will get you off and running with your new computer and Pages.
    Printing documents on a Mac is the same as on a Windows system: File > Print.

  • How do I save documents from my PC to icloud

    How do I save documents from my PC to iCloud

    You can't.  iCloud doesn't support general file/document storage.  Try a different cloud service like Dropbox.

  • How to create a document folder using ListData.svc

    Hi All,
    I've recently been put on a project where I need to use the REST services (ListData.svc) to retrieve and add documents to the document library. It all has been smooth sailing until I hit the point where I want to save a document in a path that doesn't exist.
    I get an error if I try to save a file where the folder structure doesn't exist. I then went about it a different way trying to create the folder structure first. This also didn't work and I get an error message saying that the entity type is marked with the
    MediaEntry attribute but no save stream was set for the entity. Not too sure what set for the save stream if I'm just adding a folder.
    So my question is can a file be added to a folder structure that doesn't exist where it automatically creates the folders. If not can the service create folders?
    Some sample code I've been using:
    var folder = new SampleDocumentLibraryItem();
    folder.Name = "Sample";
    folder.Title = "Sample";
    folder.ContentType = "Folder";
    folder.Path = "/sample/folder1/folder2";
    spContext.AddToSampleDocumentLibrary(folder);
    spContext.SaveChanges();
    Thanks in advance,
    Damo

    Hi All,
    Finally managed to figure this one out. For anyone who needs source on how to create a document folder. Some sample source is below...
    var folder = new DocumentLibraryItem();
    folder.Name = "Folder Name";
    folder.Title = "Folder Name";
    folder.ContentType = "Folder";
    folder.Path = path;
    spContext.AddtoDocumentLibrary(folder);
    spContext.SetSaveStream(folder, stream, false, folder.ContentType, folder.Path + folder.Name + "|0x0120009BCC19899CEBC6468FF4EEAC7B8CF4F5"
    spContext.SaveChanges();
    So the important differences in the code above. The content type of the object and stream MUST be set to "Folder". I'm not sure why but you still need to set the save stream to be a valid stream even though you're only adding a folder. So just keep the stream
    open and then pass "true" to close it when you actually save the file. The other important element as noted from the URL's in the previous comments is you need to add a "|" + Content Type ID of a folder. You'll be able to get this ID by visiting the rest service
    for an existing document library and view source to see the actual content type id for a folder.
    Thanks everyone for your help,
    Damo
