How to configure backup parallel in SAP with oracle database?

Dear SAP,
We need your suggestion on oracle database backup parallel using brbackup, our SAP system run on:
OS: UNIX - SUN Solaris SPARC 10
SAP: ECC 6.0 SR3
Database: Oracle 10.2.0.4
Our production database are growing rapidly, estimate growing is 2GB/days. Right now we backup our Production using one tape that estimated time to online backup is 4-5hours.
In there future, if we stayed this configuration. It will take long time to backup and restore it's not applicable. That's why we are planning to add more tapes during backup (4 tape parallel).
I read from help.sap, that we can configure this on $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<SID>.sap. in parameter:
compress = harware
backup_dev_type = tape
tape_address = (tape1, tape2, tape3, tape4)
tape_address_rew = (tape1, tape2, tape3, tape4)

My question,
If we want to backup parallel using 4 tapes, is this configuration that we need to do (init<SID>.sap) from sap side (DB13)?

Thanks for your help. actually I have one more question:
How do I restore my backup form this 4 tapes, if I'm using parallel backup?
Will the command same like I restore form 1 tape:
example:
brrestore u2013b beczqlnk.ant u2013m full
brrestore u2013a 5371-5372=/oracle/<SID>/oraarch/
Below are the paramter that I will configure:
- tape_address = /dev/rmt/0cbn
- compress = hardware
- backup_dev_type = tape
- exec_parallel = 4
- tape_size = 1600000
- tape_address = (dev/rmt/0mn, /dev/rmt/1mn, ..)
- tape_address_rew = (dev/rmt/0m, /dev/rmt/1m, ..)

Configure backup device in SAP(DB13)

I have installed the ECC 6.0 with SQLServer 2005 ,now I want to
configure the backup device in it. I am using external hdd for backup.
Please suggest me how to configure backup device in SAP(DB13) and

Hi..
You need to configure initSID.sap inside Kernel.
Choose backup device type to disk
backup_dev_type = disk
and change backup root directory
backup_root_dir = < Your_External_HDD_adress>
e.g. G:/backup/

Your requirement is not clear. Is PDC mean Plant Data Collection?

While Installing SAP 8.8 XL reporter Automatically Gets Installed
And Also check whether MS Excel 2003 installed 2003 excel supports XL reporter
U can check under Sap Menu -

Thanks for the information, but the directions that you give me not be useful, I want that the UPDATE TYPE appears in the position cash flow in the transaction deal in the option-->operative valuation area( 2nd option) or in the report TPM13, this for two treasury ledger dates.
I mean that the update type "samxx" affect the accountant as amortization divided?, this transaction deal is a purchase.

You must be specific when stating the version you are running. Commands may be limited or unavailable in older versions versus more recent versions of Oracle.

SAP BO Installation with Oracle Database

Hello all,
My client uses SAP R/3 with Oracle database. Now we have to install Business Objects on another machine.
I've read the documentation on Installing Procedures but there are some questions still not clarified.
1. Do I have to install Oracle in the new machine?
2. If not, can I connect BOBJ to the database of the SAP R/3 Server?
3. If I want to have three systems (Like in R/3, Productive, Tests and Development) do I have to install BOBJ in different machines?

1. you dont have to insall Oracle database at the BO machine side, you just need any database to hold the BO repository.
2. you cant connect directly using BO, only Crystal reports can connect directly to R3 database, you need to have a BW in between.
extract your data into the BW, and let BO connect to BW using the BO integration kit for SAP solutions.
3. no you dont have to have 3 different machines, using one BO machine you connect to them all, but you may need build a BO environment, (Development, Production servers)

Are you trying to transfer more content from remote locations to expose as items within a portal page? By itself, the Oracle Portal runs within the context of the database so I'm not sure how FTP at the OS level will help. However, if you're attempting to transfer files from a remote PC to upload within the Portal, here are a couple of suggestions.
Option 1:
A. Create a portal page.
B. Convert a region to Items.
C. When you're challenged to upload a file from the local OS, ensure you've a drive mapped to your remote location and pick the file to upload into the Oracle9iAS Portal.
Option 2:
Alternatively, the Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2 supports the WebDAV protocol(Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning Protocol) allowing endusers with a WebDAV client to upload content into the Portal seamlessly from their desktop.
