How to configure collaboration services in portal??

Question

I am new to the collaboration stuff, i have standard collaboration requirement where the user has to create the room and chat with other employees.
I have followed the below link to do collaboration minimal configuration

Can anyone put some light on me how to proceed???
What are the basic things i need to check that collaboration is configured or not??
How to crate create room and provide chat functionality??(Can i copy the standard room creation iview to my custom role)

Hi Samuli,
Thanks for the reply.But the sap link says we have to create the system object using the PAR file com.sap.netweaver.col.appl.gw below is the link

And i came to know that their is no option  system from PAR option in portal 7.3, after some seraching i found the below link

Finally i requested my basis team  for the com.sap.netweaver.col.appl.gw, but they are saying there are no PAR files in the EP server.
Where can i found the com.sap.netweaver.col.appl.gw PAR file ??
If PAR file does not exist whats the alternative SAP provided for email connectivity in collaboration??
