How to configure file type

Hello,
can I get the document, how to cofigure the file types? Is dms supporting design documents?

Hi Sachin,
Use transaction code DC30 to define the workstation applications and configure the MIME types for each link .doc.xls etc.
For displaying the design documents you need to install ECL viewer 6 with patch. DMS is supproting all these allpications.
I hope this will resolve the query.

  • Configure File Type Associations

I just moved from Windows XP Professional 32 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and installed several versions of JDeveloper (10.1.3.5, 11.1.1.5, 11.1.2.1) on the new machine.
All of them are popping up the "Configure File Type Associations" window every time I start JDeveloper, no matter what my answer to the prompt. After I press OK or Cancel, all my versions of JDeveloper are working fine. But the pop up is getting annoying. On my Windows XP machine, this only popped up the first time I ran JDeveloper, and never again. Anybody know how I can stop it?

Not quite, csoto, but you inspired me to try something that seems to have done the trick. You were right, it is a Windows 7 issue.
I started one of my copies of JDeveloper with "Run as Administrator", pressed OK on the prompt. Then I closed JDeveloper and started it again as myself. Now none of my versions of JDeveloper are showing the prompt. Annoyance gone.
What I think is happening is that the "Configure File Type Associations" dialog needs to change something in the Windows registry. Windows 7 security requires you to have administrative rights to do this, so when you run JDeveloper without those rights, it can't make the change. But (and I think this should be considered a bug) it doesn't show an error to tell you that it didn't have the right to do it. It just closes the dialog window. The next time JDeveloper runs, it notices that you haven't set file associations yet, so it shows the dialog again. Running JDeveloper - any version - as Administrator lets it change the file associations (which apparently applies to all versions) so that it never displays the prompt again.

  • 11g ER: Checkbox "Don't ask me again" for Configure File Type Associations

    Hi JDev team
On opening JDev 11g the Configure File Type Associations dialog opens each time, allowing me to associate JDev with 4 different file types. I don't want to associate the file types with JDev, I haven't found an option to turn this off and it's starting to get annoying. Can you raise an ER to include a check box to ask "Don't ask me again" please?
    Cheers,
    CM.

Ok I've done some digging and I think I've tracked down the issue - I'm guessing that you're running on Vista? This all has to do with the need to have elevated permissions to write to the registry on Vista.
What I suggest you do is manually run JDeveloper as an administrator, having first deleted the Jdeveloper.jprFile, Jdeveloper.jpwFile, Jdeveloper.jspFile, and
Jdeveloper.javaFile entries in the registry. Once you've run JDeveloper in this way you'll ok the dialog. Then on subsequent runs you should be able to run JDeveloper as a normal user without being troubled by the question.
Normally we automatically handle the permission elevation on the first run, but I'm guessing that because you've had previous pre-production builds of JDveloper on your machine that's prevented that from occurring.
Phew, this makes Unix permissions seem simple...

  • Configure File Type Associations at startup everytime

Whenever I startup SQL Developer (1.5), the Configure File Type Associations opens up. No matter what I do, that window always displays when I first start SQL Developer.
My guess is that the information that this window is trying to save is being written somewhere that I don't have access to. I'm running on a machine that is locked down with very little permissions (I can't install any software). Obviously this information is not stored where the other settings are stored (\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Application Data\SQL Developer) because I have full permisions to this folder.
    Anyone else experiencing this behavior?
    Thanks,
    Rich

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and I'm looking to find out where the "Configure File Type Associations" are stored in SQL Developer 1.5.1.54.40. I am running SQL Developer as a published application via CItrix, so my user community is locked down from many things, however, as full access to their profiles. Are these file associations stored in the registry? If so, does anyone know which key(s) store these settings? My users are very annoyed that they have to re-select their file associations every time they run SQL Dev from the pub app server. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  • Configure file type association

Every time I start up sql developer, it asks to configure file type association.
I've selected all and gone ok, but it keeps asking, I've tried many conbinations, ie unticked them, still it asks.
I'm running latest version under xp sp2 with up to date patches and hotfixes.
Is there a file I can manually configure or what ??

All the configuration option for file associations are under Preferences > File Associations.
I am running the same windows version and service pack and have SQL Developer as my default editor for SQL scripts and haven't had any problems. Verify the check box at the very bottom with text that reads "Open with SQL Developer", have it checked.

  • Configure File Type Associations dosen't work for users

    Hi EB,
Does anyones knows how to set the File Type Associations for users ? It works for me when i'm logged in as Admin but not as a user. When logged as user it always ask to configure the file associations when i open JDev and even with JDev open it does not set it. I tried to find an article about that but couldn't find any.
    I'm using :
    winXP SP3
    JDeveloper 11g TP4
and i've sets all rights for autentified users on the folders and subfolders of JDeveloper.
    Thanks

I tried going on tool>preferences>File Type .... and associate projets and source and applications files with JDev check marking "open with JDev"... it didn't worked as user... it's just not saving my settings while reopening it it's never saved... at least i've been able to associate it in my Admin account then i can go back in user account and select open file with in windows, choose JDev and check mark "always open that file with that program" only after that the association is saved in JDev... but still it open the Configuration file windows at startup with the ones i already opened with JDev checked... anyway that's not a big issue ... only that i can't save those settings by the JDev environement while logged in as a user...

  • How to change file type associations in SAP ERP 6.0?

    Hello,
I'd like to figure out how to change the application associated with a given file type in SAP. I want to open a .DOC file, but I am using OpenOffice instead of MS Word. I have .DOC file type already associated with OpenOffice in Windows XP, but SAP doesn't seem to recognize that association. I am using SAP ERP 6.0. Any ideas?
    Mike

    Hi,
MS Word is mandatory. You will not be able to work using Open Office in SAP.

  • How to repair File Type Associations

Hi, I have a problem with being unable to mount *.bin files by double clicking them.
They seem to be associated with VLC at the moment, and I would like to know how to return it so that these *.bin files are automatically mounted/opened when downloaded.
Which application should I choose to associate *.bin files with so I can do this?
Is there a different way of taking care of this problem?
Additionally, I have removed VLC from my computer for this reason, and is there any other thing I should have done besides deleting the VLC folder I had made to contain that application? (e.g. an uninstall)
I'm a new Mac user so I need a little help

    Hi, lunarist.
I tested your link using two browsers: OmniWeb and Safari.
    1. With OmniWeb, it downloaded the .bin, invoked my copy of StuffIt Deluxe, scanned it with Norton AntiVirus, decompressed the .bin and mounted the disk image included therein. My StuffIt preferences are set to scan files with NAV before decompressing them. OmniWeb "knows" to use StuffIt Deluxe to expand the .bin because of the file's MIME type and, as a result of having StuffIt Deluxe installed on my Mac, Launch Services has associated StuffIt Deluxe with files of this type.
Launch Services is the underlying mechanism in Mac OS X that associates documents with applications and vice-versa.
    2. With Safari, the bin was downloaded and decompressed. I was warned the disk image contained a program, and when I accepted that it should be mounted, it was.
What you're seeing here is that Safari contains the code necessary to decompress the .bin and will do so if "Open Safe Files" is specified in Safari > Preferences > General. That Safari can perform this is common with many Mac-based Internet applications, e.g. browsers, FTP clients, even some mail clients. See section [2.4] of the comp.sys.mac.com FAQ where it states:"almost all modern Macintosh telecommunications and Internet programs have the capability of converting and unconverting MacBinary files for you."However, as previously noted in other posts, you don't have an application installed that will permit you to decompress these files by simply double-clicking them. For that, you need something like StuffIt Expander, a free version of which can be found here. Tiger, unlike prior versions of Mac OS X, does not include Stuffit Expander: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Where is StuffIt Expander?"
So, as others have advised, install the free version of StuffIt Expander in order to decompress .bin files by double-clicking them.
They're presently associated with VLC as VLC must claim .bin as a file extension or the MIME type "application/x-macbinary" as one it can open, hence Launch Services has decided that, based on the apps you have installed, that VLC is the only app that claims this file type.
    Good luck!

  • How to change file type from .zip to .dock

I would like to know how to change the saved file type (.zip) to other file types such as (.txt), (.doc), (.dock) or (.pdf).

It's more complicated than just changing the name of the file to have a different extension.  What you have to do is to convert a file from one format to another.  To do that you have to use an application that knows how to open the original type and how to write the format of the new type.  The application to use for a given combination depends on the combination.  For example, the Preview applications knows how to read a JPG file and write the contents to a PDF file.
A ".zip" file is a somewhat different case.  A ".zip" file is an "archive" that (generally) contains other files compressed within it.  If you double-click on a ZIP file, it should expand into the enclosed files.
If you give specific examples of what you want to convert, people should be able to explain what to do.
By the way, I'm not familiar with a file of type ".dock".  What is that?

  • Png type not recognized in widget - how to edit file type?

    Dear all,
I almost got crazy these last hours as a nice widget I am working on suddenly refused to work.
I now understand the source of the problem: the file type of the PNG background image is not "Portable Network Graphics Image" but "Adobe Photoshop PNG".
This causes the widget to refuse to load, apparently.
I can not find a way to edit this (even FileInfo does not propose PNG?)... or to make photoshop produce a generic PNG.
Has anybody encountered this problem and/or has an idea on how to solve it?
I can not imagine that there is no way in mac os x to edit the inner properties of the file..
    THANKS for any hint,
    Olivier.

    Hi
I think there's a similar issue in Fireworks, where the native file format appears to be an extended form of PNG. In Fireworks, there's a file export command, which enables you to create a separate copy of the file in PNG (or any other) format whilst retaining the extended PNG for the master version of the file. I'm not a Photoshop user but I would look to see if there's an "export" command, and I would use it to create a separate PNG version of the file, in the hope that this does not have any of the extensions.
