How to configure IPv6 DHCP on Windows Server 2012?
I see LOTS of help and what to do for IPv4, but it's a ghost town for IPv6 DHCP configuration? Hardly anything on youtube etc that shows this simply. Lots of complicated unrelated IPv6 stuff though.
Seems many here as best practice set up server to handle DHCP. Not router or firewall. So how are you setting up IPv6 on the server?
Anyone have any tutorials or simple step by step help how to properly configure DHCPv6 on server?
Currently the router is handling DHCP. I want to use Active Directory. I know its best to have server handle DHCP, but will AD work just fine with router doing both ipv4 and ipv6 dhcp and for simplicity and wireless? Small 5 user office.
Thank you.

How to install device cals on Windows Server 2012 standard edition
Hello i have a windows server 2012 standard edition licence that i have taken on rent from an ISP.
i have created a domain controller on that.
By default only two users can use remote desktop to the server simultaneously.
My Requirement is 20 users can use remote desktop to the server at the same time. For that i have purchased 20 Delive CALs licences like volume licencing.
i have the licence number noted on the paper.
do i need to install remote desktop services first etc ?
Could anyone guide me step by step how can i install or configure so that 20 users can use remote desktop on the same time.Hi,
Any update about the issue?
I would agree with others, you need to install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses.
There are three methods by which you can install Remote Desktop Services client access licenses (RDS CALs) onto your license server:
• Install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses Automatically
• Install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses by Using a Web Browser
• Install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses by Using the Telephone
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725890.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
Then you can install both Per User and Per Device CALs onto the same license server.

How to install Sticky Notes in Windows Server 2012 R2
I want to install Sticky Note in Windows Server 2012 R2. If this app is not available in Server 2012 then which is the
best "Sticky Note" application for this platform.
ThanksHere are instructions for 2008 -
http://www.win2008r2workstation.com/sticky-notes/ I'm not sure about the legality of that, as I think Microsoft has some rules in their license about copying files from one distribution to another. You would need a lawyer to check on that.
Otherwise, a simple Bing search will turn up freeware apps you can download.

Thanks for your post.
First, try to ping the loopback address 127.0.0.1. If the loopback test succeeds but you cannot ping the local IP address, please post the unedited
ipconfig /all and route print of the problematic computer.
For test purpose, you may refer to the following lab step by step guide to deployment Tunnel Mode IPsec. Hope it helps.

Do you mean than you want everyone have their own personal share folder? And need to limit the folder size?
I think you can use the FTP server function in Windows server.
About FTP, it is recommended to ask in the Windows server forum, the professionals there will be glad to help you.

How do i install mysql on windows server 2012 r2 using powershell(automate)??
i have a requirement of installing the mysql server with one click deployment using power shell by passing the parameters needed into the mysql console. can i achieve that ?
can anyone help me in doing that?
thanks in advance.
Suresh GaddamHi Suresh,
This forum is for SCOM related questions, it seems like that you are asking for powershell script to install Mysql. From my point of view, I don't think that using powershell to install Mysql is an easy way, as it is hard to say whether Powershell can get
information from Mysql install console with some API.
In addition, for further assistance, please contact MySQL forum and Powershell forum.
Thanks for your understanding!

How to install SharePoint server 2013 in windows server 2012 R2

WSUS server role on Windows Server 2012 R2 - Supported SQL Configurations
According to
this page the supported SQL configurations for WSUS on Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 stop at SQL Server 2012 SP1, but there is no mention of SQL Server 2012 SP2 being supported.
However, both the SCCM 2012 R2
supported configuration page and this announcement state that SQL Server 2012 SP2 is fully supported on SCCM 2012 R2 with no
known limitations. Bearing in mind a big part of SCCM is to perform software updates which in turn requires WSUS to be installed...
... Is SQL Server 2012 SP2 supported on WSUS 4.0 (aka WSUS server role on Windows Server 2012 R2)?The only thing that mattered for the versions mentioned on TechNet probably is the date the articles are published. I'm no Microsoft employee so I cannot guarantee you support even if I trace back some Microsoft article that explains the lifecycle of MS
products and support.
Fact is that MDT uses a database, SQL is a database server. SQL server has all kinds of compatibility modes to support databases dating multiple versions back.
Another fact is that a Service pack is an
update to the software (be it a large one) Microsoft will not break compatibility with their own products (and may others that relay on SQL server) by an update.
And a last fact is that in general, updates are required when you need support. After all, updates fix issues, and engineers generally don't like ghosthunting a bug that has already been patched.

Migrate SBS 2003 with AD and Exchange to Windows Server 2012 Standard
We are using SBS 2003 and we have configured Exchange server and AD with DNS and DHCP. Now we are planning to move SBS 2003 to Separate servers like windows server 2012 standard AD with DNS and DHCP and Windows server 2012 Standard with Exchange
2010.
Is it Possible?? we need step by step guide.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
You probably would not find any step by step guide for this kind of migrations. If you are not comfortable with doing such migrations I would recommend to if you need to do it your self do some test migrations. Or otherwise get help by a local IT company
that is familiar with migrations.
But to give you some information, first thing before starting a migration is check the health of your SBS 2003 server / domain. Use tools like dcdiag, netdiag and best practice analyzer. I wrote a blog post about steps to think about before you start this
might help: http://blog.ronnypot.nl/?p=914
When every thing is clean you can start adding the new windows server 2012 machines as member servers to your domain.
Next you can promote one of the servers to additional domain controller on your domain (Keep in mind SBS needs to hold all FSMO roles so moving these is the last step your should do.) Also promoting a windows server 2012 to domain controller has slightly
changed, you need to install the ADDS role and follow the wizard to promote the server to a DC.
With installation of the new DC install DNS allongsite it will automatic replicate settings during confiugration.
DHCP must be installed manual, depending on your scope and settings it might be as easy to create a new scope and disable the old dhcp server.
On the server Exchange needs to be installed, make sure you install and do all pre-requirements. Than install Exchange it will automaticly detect you already have an Exchange organization and is installed as additional server. You can configure all settings
and when everything is configured right you start moving mailboxes.
When everything is moved away from the SBS 2003 server, uninstall exchange, move the FSMO roles to the new DC and after that demote the sbs 2003 server so it is not listed anymore as an additional DC in the domain. Last would be shutdown the server and remove
all records left in AD and DNS.
There is this guide for migrating SBS 2003 to windows server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010, this might give you some usefull information, not everything will be the same but it is a good start:

Please make sure the Windows Server Features and Role services are enabled in your SharePoint server.

Migrate SBS 2003 to Windows Server 2012 Standard
We currently have two servers (SBS 2003 Standard utilizing Exchange 2003; Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard with SQL 2005).
We want to retire the SBS or maybe both.
We have purchased a new server (Windows Server 2012 Standard with licenses for Exchange 2013 and SQL 2012).
Is there a whitepaper that describes how to migrate SBS 2003 to Windows Server 2012 Standard?
Is it possible to run Exchange 2013 on the Windows Server 2012 box? In Hyper-V? If Exchange can run in a virtualized instance, do we need additional licensing to run another instance of Windows Server 2012 Standard?
Can we run SQL 2012 on the same Windows Server 2012 box?
We have about 35 users.Sal,
Migration went fine. Steps i took:
Join 2012 Standard server as member.
Migrated roles.
I ended up manually creating new shares. The old environment was a mess.
Robocopy data/verified.

MCSA Windows Server 2012 Certification Exam prep
I am studying for the MCSA Windows Server 2012 certification. I have looked at the books on amazon and would like your opinion on book selection. In the past I have found the self-pace exam prep books by microsoft to my liking. If you know of any
web sites that contain information on how to prepare for the MCSA Windows Server 2012 certification that would great too. I think I am going to setup a lab using Windows Server 2012 R2 machines to assist my learning so information on that topic would be great.
I am currently using Virtual Box to create virtual machines.Hi, I always liked the exam prep book from MS with hand-on lab. There is
http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/ from MS as well, could be a good place to check. I know too that @KeithMayer on twitter do post a lot of ressource too.
I will move the thread to the learning section, as maybe other users got other ressource of value.
