How to configure low battery auto-sleep ?

Hello,
When my battery is low, I've got an alert to tell me to plug my Mac.
Though, this alert comes really to soon (when it's ~7%) and I like to do full cycles, so I usually wait to reach 2-1% to plug it.
But it happens that I forgot to plug it and then my mac turns off because of lake of battery.
How could I configure my mac to tell it to go to sleep if the battery charge reaches 1% ?
Thank you !
Pit

Thank you !
That's a good workaround !
I found SlimBatteryMonitor, that seams to be a good equivalent to Watts, but Free ! ;-)

  • How to suppress low battery warning on iPhone

    Hi,
I need to be able to suppress low battery warnings since they can mess up the way the app works. Is there any way to do this?
Also, if there is a way to calculate how full the battery is, that would be very interesting.
    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure nobody would want you to do that.

  • Low battery - when sleeping, what should happen

When the battery is low, and I put the macbook pro to sleep, when I come back to the machine its dead. Now I can understand that the battery has exhausted, but my trusty Thinkpad would have hibernated so it wouldn't matter. Just mains, and off you go. This doesn't happen with the Mac, it's a start again, and possible corruption. Is this meant to happen?

Several components, including the RAM, remain powered during sleep - if the battery is low when you sleep, it can run all the way down, forcing a shutdown. No corruption should occur - the MBP uses a "safe sleep" (writes the current state to the hard disk, but this is not saved across a restart). However, a complete shut down will require you to restart.
Personally, I find a complete boot up on my MBP significantly faster than my HP laptop coming out of hibernation.

  • New battery, turns off at low battery-not sleep

    Any help greatly appreciated.
New battery and trying to calibrate it. Turned PB off, installed new battery, plugged it in and fully charged it. Turned PB on, unplugged it and used it. I got the warning about the low battery message to plug into AC power or it would soon go to sleep. So, I kept on using it to force the sleep. Instead after a bit it simply shut down. No pulsing light. I charged it back up (overnight) and turned it on and when I go to 'More Info' in the Apple menu and look at the Power information I see:
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 4544
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 4379
    Amperage (mA): -1428
    Voltage (mV): 12105
    Cycle Count: 0
No first low level warning and no upping the cycle count. What should be my next step? I've heard about possibly resetting the PRAM, is this one of those times?
(BTW, I am able to put the PB to sleep when I select Sleep from the apple menu. That works fine.)

Only the apple ones will put the machine to sleep, any others will just abruptly shut the machine down.
This has never been my experience. Since 1994, I've bought several third-party batteries for several different Powerbooks, and all have behaved properly vis-a-vis sleep on low battery. They've all been bought from reliable Mac-centric vendors and borne reputable brand names, and none cost less than $90. I've never owned a third-party battery that failed to trigger sleep as it neared full discharge, except when it was very old and tired.
I have, however, seen many reports here of cheap third-party batteries picked up on Ebay, some of them bearing apparently counterfeit Apple labels, that failed to trigger sleep on low battery, provided false or impossible battery condition readouts, failed to charge, never gave any low-battery warnings, or otherwise misbehaved.
You get what you pay for in Powerbook batteries.

  • How to get low battery warning on Satellite L350-235?

    Hi
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L350-235
I have a problem trying to get a warning sound when my battery is low.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You can do this in personalize option of Win 7
Make a right click on desktop and select Personalize
Then click on Sounds at the bottom of the window.
Next you have to select a sound event (battery low) from the list and then hit browse button. Select a .wav sound and click Open and then click Apply.

  • How to determine what prevents auto sleep?

My iMac doesn`t go to sleep automatically, so my question is how to determine what prevents sleep?

I, too, have just noticed this issue after I left my computer to secure empty trash. I thought my computer would enter sleep mode automatically, but when I returned to my home office to turn in for the night, I found that the computer had been on (with the monitor off) the entire evening. So much for "Energy Saver."
I have been through as many of the threads covering this issue. I checked to see if there were any apps using the processor. None. I checked "Put the hard drive(s) to sleep when possible." I made sure Internet Sharing was unchecked. I even unchecked Bluetooth sharing or anything that would require some type of network or internet connection. Despite all this, the computer still does not go to sleep on it's own.
I have just upgraded to Lion 10.7.3 on my iMac 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo so this is definitely a continuing problem which has not been addressed since older theads dealing with early versions of Lion.
Let's hope Mountain Lion will fix this.

  • Low battery shutdown / sleep

Is there an option in Leopard or Tiger to force the laptop to go into sleep or shutdown if the battery level goes below a certain level?

Well what's weird with my MBP, is that when it goes into forced-sleep, after the battery runs out (like my old PB G4 did) it essentially shuts down. It doesn't respond to anything after I plugin. The only thing I can do to wake it up is to hit the power button, and it starts up as if I shut down.
This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't working on open apps at the time.
Does the new MBPs have a Power Management Reset switch like older PBs?

  • I want to stop auto sleeping

    Hello,
I want to download something from the internet. Please let me know how to turn off the auto sleep mode or whatever that causes my screen to go dim so my downloads don't get hindered.
    Thanks a lot...

    annazmussaqib,
go into the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, select the tab that corresponds to whether you’ll be downloading while running on battery or while connected to AC. Set the corresponding “Computer sleep” slider to Never, and uncheck the “Put hard disks to sleep when possible” checkbox.

  • Macbook no longer "sleeps" after 'low battery' warning, just suddenly dies

My macbook (just over a year old) used to give me a warning with 10 minutes left that it would sleep so as my data was not lost, if I didn't plug it in. However, recently, it has stopped doing this - instead of sleeping, if I don't get to a power source in time within 10 minutes, it simply cuts out, with the sound of the hard drive stopping - like if you shut down a frozen macbook with the power button.
This is REALLY irritating - what's going on? Why does it not sleep anymore, and is there any way to fix it?
I'm on Tiger 10.4.11, with an intel macbook...

Same Problem here. Tried several calibrations, smc and pram zap (well i guess there is no pram any longer so it zaps something else). Now I found another post where they talk about the battry 1.2 update. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1449128&tstart=60
I remember when trying to do an battery update to 1.3 manually the update told me that it is not for my macbook. But - I found the 1.3 update Bundle in /System/Library/Configuration/BatteryUpdater.bundle
    1. I Removed /System/Library/Configuration/BatteryUpdater.bundle from my system
    2. rebooted
    3. Emptied trash
    4. Installed update 1.2 by Softwarupdate.
I will now do an SMC reset an then let the battery run low and watch what happens.
    Then do a calibration.
I have the problem here in different ways. Sometimes Macbook shuts down suddenly after low battery warning, sometimes it sleep, almost never it hibernates.
My Battery was replace after showing the x symptome about a year ago but now it looks bad again

  • I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it?

Hi, I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. I've tried everything! All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it? All I want are my contacts and my old calendar back. These did not sync with iTunes like my photos, music, and video. I can probably get an older, replacement iPod, but I don't want to have to readd all my important dates and reminders, as well as contact information. I guess I have two questions:
    1) is there a way to get my ipod to start working again?
    2) is there a way to get my old contacts and calendar back again?

    Try here:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
To get the calender and contacts back if you can't get the iPod working is to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old one.

  • 6750 How can I get a ''Low Battery Alert'' from my...

I have recently bought  a 6750. At one point I realized that my phone died without any warning. Went through the User Guide, nothing.
Went through the phone and only found one thing under: >Settings > Tones > Other Tones, ON or OFF. I set it to ON.
Is this going to solve my problem or is there something else that I need to set?
How can a mobile not come by default with a low battery alert?
Maybe the OVI Suite should have a GUI to help setup the phone with all the proper instructions?

the only way to find out if warning tones set to on will work is to let the battery run low again
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Macbook shuts down when low battery instead of going to sleep

    Hi
Well basically my laptop shuts itself down instead of going to sleep when my battery gets low. I also do not get the low battery message. My macbook will usually shut down when it gets to approximately 6% of battery life. What should I do?
    Thanks
    Sarah.

Have you done the battery update? You might also try to reset the SMC and/or PRAM.
If it doesn't work you may need a new battery. The original core duo batteries have had an extra year added to their warranty so even if your computer is not covered the battery is. My MacBook was doing the same thing except at 28%. Apple replaced my battery and it works fine now.
If you call Apple be polite but firm some people have had trouble from some of the reps. Mine went smoothly I had a new battery in 3 days.

  • How to configure V240 auto-boot after power failure?

    Hi!
How to configure automatic boot of V240 machine after power failure? After power gets resored, V240 remains in standby mode and one has to press button on front to power it up. It is not convinient because power failure can occur, for example, at night and the machine is not booted until the first user awakens :)

Uhh... I've found publicly accessible document http://docs.sun.com/source/817-5481-11/variables.html :
Looks like this variable controls auto-power-up behaviour:
    sc_powerstatememory
The sc_powerstatememory variable enables you to specify the state of the host server as false (keep the host server off) or true (return the server to the state it was in when the power was removed). This is useful in the event of a power failure, or if you physically move the server to a different location.
For example, if the host server is running when power is lost and the sc_powerstatememory variable is set to false, the host server remains off when power is restored. If the sc_powerstatememory variable is set to true, the host server restarts when the power is restored.
The values for this variable are as follows.
true - "Remembers" the state of the host server when power was removed and returns the server to that state when power is reapplied.
false - Keeps the server off when power is applied.
